I see now that Elephant's Grass gives the deck a control type aspect when played so you can get your board settled. You can try the Vanquisher's and see how they do. They basically scream attention on turn two and trade for anything. Might buy you some time while wreaking havoc on the board.Heedless One also comes to mind when playing elves. It would thrive better on elf tokens to become huge (which elves has no problem doing).

Nice,I'd replace one guild gate for a swamp just to save you from losing rhythm; this deck is primarily more black than green anyway so it shouldn't hurt. Having Sylvan Caryatid helps mana fix and smooth things out even more.
Crucible of Worlds are crazy in dredge. And Amulet of Vigor is pretty cool when combined with Root Maze.
Wren's Run Vanquisher is a nice card to consider. Not much of a drawback for just showing an elf card in your hand, then you get a huge body with deathtouch.
Cool deck, brings back memories when I ran something awfully similar.I would replace the guilgates for twilight mire. Helps keep your rhythm without having to waste a turn because the gate comes into play tapped.
If cash isn't an issue and since this can be utilized in modern, Twilight Mire could replace the guildgates. I did and I never looked back. I've lost games as a result of losing rhythm.
Thanks for the comment. Geths grimoire was something I was considering too. I used it before. It was always fun to see my opponents face when used right.
Thanks for your tip about pyromancer ascension
