Nevermind I don't really like this, it would only really work well if you had blood artist out and not athreos. But maybe vampire hexmage in sideboard to deal with plansewalkers, not sure how much of a problem they are for you though.

What about a cauldron haze for double hits some turns? May come in handy, not sure what I would cycle out though and may not work with athreos out.

I can see what you are saying about the bloadsoaked champions but he is mainly in there for early aggression and recycle sac fodder.

I like him a lot because after a post combat phase I can sac him to do damage with blood artists and put counters on my guys who have blade equipped. If I attacked that turn I can do that as many times as I can recast him compared to bloodghast which is only one cycle per turn for land drops. Both have there place. The aristocrat buff is just a side note.

I do agree I need more lords going to work in some stormkirk captains because I think first strike with my aristocrat and my nighthawk works very well.

Thanks for the advice I really appreciate it!

I really like nether traitor, trying to figure out how to make it work. Trying to limit the non-vampire creatures but shadow + blade could be nice for some free high hits. In addition the return to the field works well with the other combos....

Wasn't me you downvoted! Rakish is a good choice but generally by the time I am getting through I am hitting like a truck already. The single +1 doesn't do much when I can equip a blade on falkenrath then sac bloodghast and warrior for 4 counters and indestructible also possibly doing 2 direct damage at the same time with my blood artist. Higher synergy with blade then rakish is what I have found.

Couldn't agree with you more. The cost is just a little much if I can get one through trade I would try it out. As well one of my friends runs a dragon deck and a few others have dragons in there decks as well. So the dragon choice works quite well. If I played this in a store or something I would probably switch to damnation.

These are great suggestions. I never play competitive or anything, I just have a small group of friends that get together every Thursday. Its exciting to hear at least tier 3!

And yes I play tested killing wave and didn't like it at all. Every time I wanted to remove something of course they just paid the life didn't fit well for what I wanted out of it. Going to give crux of fate a go, especially since my buddy just made a dragon deck :).

How many of duress/despise do you recommend having in the SB?

I have debated on the dread bore versus heros downfall and I keep going back to downfall for the instant, but I am starting to lean towards to two casting cost dreadbore...espicially since its RB not 1BB. As for feast of the fallen my guys actually beef extremely quickly with blade of the bloodchief so not sure how much I need it.

Thanks for the advice I always appreciate the look!

The exquisite blood/ sanguine bond combo is one of my favorites as well. I actually thought about putting exquisite into this deck but when I ran it I found it to be a dead card in my hand because I always went for casting more vampires.

Thanks for the input though I always appreciate a good discussion!

Oh derp, yah that totally makes sense about the first strike once I re-read "fighting".

I really like this deck Northern, and I swear it has nothing to do with my undying love for vampire tribal. One vampire that is in my top 10 is the nighthawk, that lifelink/flying/deathtouch, would fit quite nicely. Flying to get through for that counter bump or just deathtouch for fight removal (with stormkirk you don't even have to worry about losing him!).

As well the vampire hexmage I find so useful against planeswalkers and the first strike I am sure would fit nicely here.

just a couple ideas at any rate I really like this deck!

If you have a second i am always open to input on my new modern vampire deck I just put together.

Oh I really really really like cauldron haze. I was on a magic hiatus during that set missed some really good cards I see. I think I am going to have to order some of those and try them out.

When I was building this deck I was trying to figure out how to put the captain into this deck. I will try that switch out one of these nights and see how it holds up.

As always thanks so much for the look and the like :).

Oh I really like killing wave, I had a problem against a deck rolling invisible stalker beat down. I agree on the terminate as well, I just threw in a couple of kinds of kill cards to see what I liked but the terminates have worked the best so far.

Thanks for the advice and the look!

Grim Haruspex may be worth trying out. Not sure how necessary the card draw is for this deck but I always love card advantage.

I am currently using him in this build, http://www.mtgvault.com/potch/decks/red-black-vampire-bat/.

I like the deck though +1 from me.

I love this deck, all the recommendations I could think of are not standard unfortunately. So I will just give you a nice +1 from me.

I made a similar one (non-standard), but if I remove a few lands could make modern.

For those interested in a different variation:

I like it to keep my guys alive from anger of the gods/pyroclasm type spells.

Psychosis Crawler - this may fit in, I have ran it in a few of my draw decks and works well in my play group.

Got to recommend one of my favorites, Triton Tactics. I think it would fit well in here. +1 for the deck.

But looking at artful dodge I think I am going to swap out the teleportals for it. Will do more damage for the same mana cost, just need the two blue.

I like this deck I have something similar where I combo nivix cyclops, brute force, and teleportal for a nice 11/7 unblockable thump. Problem is most my friends know this now and tend to not let my cyclops hang around for very long....
