Deck discussion for EDH Dredge 5.0

hoi hoi my friend,
I also play Sidisi a heck of allot, but i found that you need around 50 percent of your deck to have the type creature to get hits 85% of the time or above, do you find your build lets you combo and also survive board wipes as easily if you don't get to chain those triggers?

(I don't use oracle as i find having it in the deck makes me get too much targeted hate)

With how often the deck throws cards into the graveyard, I've found that Sidisi triggers pretty reliably. I've been testing various builds of this deck for a few years to try and get a deck that feels like modern dredge, and this is the closest I've found. Board wipes haven't seemed to be much of a problem and the combos have been pretty consistent. The oracle is basically only there to get around things like glacial chasm/infinite life because those were problems which came up semi-consistently.

makes sense, looking at the deck it seems more value focused than mine (that is mostly combo focused) and you are right about oracle, it is better to have the effect that wins right at that moment if there is more targeted removal in your group.

thanks for the reply :D

I would either put in Jace, wielder of mysteries, or laboratory maniac, as their abilities are static, and don’t have to be played immediately (maybe oracle works fine, if so please correct me), but other then that it’s a nice deck

It's much harder to pull Jace from the graveyard, since the deck tends to dredge rather than draw. I find that the deck has some trouble just drawing a random card to go with maniac, which is why the immediate trigger of oracle has been better. I might just not be finding options to reliably take Jace out of the yard, because he would be pretty good if that could be done.

I mean you play the deck it was only a suggestion, but I do see oracle in decks that might use maniac best, because it’s a new card, and I wasn’t sure is this is one of them

I didn't mean to come off dismissive, sorry. I was just trying to explain my reasoning. Thanks for the suggestion though. :)

To me you didn’t sound dismissive; just explaining your reason, so no reason to apologize

Also would Gyruda be good, or is it to slow

I hadn't really thought about it since I couldn't use it as a companion. Looking at it now, I think it'd be a little slow for something that can't be cast from the graveyard.
