Thirded on Underworld

timberwatch is only a temporary boost, and it doesnt prevent him from being blocked or give trample. its a glorified buff and nothing else
so i playtested this last night and holy shit is it powerful! i got to cast genesis wave twice, the first time for 12 and again for 34 the very next turn. after finally getting my field all organized, i only had 3 cards left in my library. my graveyard consisted of my 4 waves and the second rofellos. i had such a massive field presence that nothing couldve stopped me from going crazy at that point.
you could drop a few islands and make it 24 land. most of your stuff is cheap so it wouldnt hurt
Aeon Chronicler and Aladdin's Lamp are great examples of that
but i am paying for it. you pay however much mana you choose, and in this case it is zero. until the spell resolves, the toughness value wont be 0, it will be 0+X. once the spell resolves and the creature enters the battlefield, the toughness is then resolved as 0 and thus the creature dies. if paying nothing didnt work, then certain cards with X in them wouldnt have things like "X cant be 0" printed on them.
cuz he's a stud lol
pretty sure those are "studs", not "babes"... >.>
its probably filler. there arent many merfolk in standard right now
why on earth do you have 3 valakut in here when you arent running mountains??? prismatic omens only works once a land has already entered so it wont trigger valakut
token rush. unless someone has out a mass blocker like thoughtweft trio, it will often win through sheer numbers
im guessing from the general outlook that the point is to use either taunting elf or one of the two infect creatures and buff them with all your other spells. taunting elf is likely to ensure that when he can attack with infect that noting blocks him and he can swing for lethal. its a novel idea, one that you dont see often
i think he was trying to go with a deathtouch/infect style. its not bad, just not what people are used to seeing when they think elves
because this is a standard deck, not vintage
that was my first thought when i saw the decklist
see ive read the rules over on this and im not seeing that anywhere. the only thing i found on X was just the common knowledge fact that X is whatever amount you pay into it. it doesnt say on the card that i CANT pay X, and the rules also dont say that anything with 0 toughness doesnt enter play. it will enter play despite having 0 toughness, die immedieately, and thus trigger disciple's ability. 704.5f If a creature has toughness 0 or less, it's put into its owner's graveyard. Regeneration can't replace this event. this is straight from the comprehensive rules, word for word. now correct me if im wrong, but a creature has to be in play for the 0 toughness rule to kick in. since it IS in play when the ruling deems it "dead", it does leave play and get put into the graveyard, thus triggering Disciple.
Your creatures be like "I have breasts! GTFO FOOL!!!"
fair enough
im looking at this from a more casual viewpoint as opposed to a very competetive based outlook of standard. i dont often use sideboards mostly because i dont do competetive matches. if i did then i might consider them more
im not saying dont run one, im just saying dont run too many until you know what you are up against, if at all. not everyone will have flyers that are a huge threat
