WHY DOES ANYONE USE MIND CONTROL IT'S SO FUCKING BAD AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Look up Treachery. :D

Control is the main reason that blue is far and away the best color!

Shit, I forgot Life from the Loam had Dredge. Silly me! The rest of my comment still stands!

You have 4 Spore Frog, Darkness, AND Fog? Switch out either 4 Darkness or 4 Fog for 4 Dark Ritual. The Dark Ritual's sole purpose is to get Phage out much earlier than you naturally could!

To protect Phage, you can use Spellskites or Lightning Greaves/Swiftfoot Boots. (Or the more expensive aforementioned Whispersilk Cloak.)

I hope this helps! Phage is an amazing card.

I completely understand the deck and your win-con, but by making it budgeted, it's become extremely weak. You seriously need Crucible of Worlds in here. Come on, at least one. Why the hell wouldn't you like it? I know they're expensive, but adding one or two would still keep it budget and would make it MUCH better.

I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, but in my experience Valakut decks often suck pretty hard unless you dump a bunch of money into them. I would try and have one other win-con in here in case Valakut doesn't pan out.

I have to ask, how many times have you randomly discarded the card that you Gambled for? Unless you're cheating, I'm sure it has happened quite a bit. It just doesn't seem consistent enough.

I don't mean to be negative - this deck isn't really bad by any means - it's just that the "budget" aspect shows, ya know?

Yep, this is an extremely old and annoying type of combo deck, simply called Flash.

The walls you're thinking of Ethan are Shifting Walls. No need for Carrion Feeder here!

Exactly. I actually already made a 'fun' combo deck involving the Gilder group to win with Darksteel Reactor instead of Grindclock.

http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=220569

It's just for kicks and will pretty much hardly ever go off.

Infinite combos like that are cool, but 4 pieces is way too many, and it wouldn't fit in with this deck, as the Cabbage has said. It would have to be it's own deck that focuses on and protects the combo.

All of that being said, Grindclock is a pretty cool card and I even considered it for this deck, but decided to go with much quicker milling via spells.

Honestly, no. It certainly is a nice card for defensive purposes (are you suuuure you're gonna attack and mill yourself?), but it's expensive and in truth not that effective at milling. Nemesis of Reason is way superior for milling, and Guiltfeeder is more superior for killing. I already have 7 cards in my 5 CMC slot, so I have to be very careful about adjusting the mana curve.

Thanks for the suggestion though!

Might as well have one in. It can tap for black itself, and it can make any Island I have able to tap for black as well. It's not a piece to any grand combo or anything, it's just that more options for mana are always welcome! It's usually a good idea to have one in any multi-color deck that uses black.

2 Hoard-Smelter for your win-con (you need one!!!!), Shattering Spree instead of Shatter (direct upgrade), 2 Mycosynth Lattice, and 2 Splinter.

Now you will be in business.

Oh my god. So much to think about...thank you guys for all of the comments and ideas! I haven't logged on in a couple of days (Minecraft 1.8.1 just came out) and I was just like whoaaa +60?!

Spoils of Evil sounds AWESOME. Especially coupled with Psychic Drain, Sad. Sacrament, Profane Command...so many options.

Ghost Quarter with Archive Trap/Mind Funeral works extremely well too. I never even thought about using Ghost Quarter in that way.

I think my head is going to explode. I might have to just make a new mill deck altogether.

I agree with everyone's points on Traumatize (except the dude who said it is the worst mill card ever.) For me personally, not only do I like it as a concept and flavor-wise, but it has also usually worked out pretty well. I understand it is expensive to cast, but getting it out early (turn 3) usually decimates my opponent. Following it with Haunting Echoes is usually game.

Shimian Specter is amazing too. I don't like it's dependency on the oponent's hand though...that's my only misgiving about it.

I have quite a bit to think about; again thanks for all of the comments! I really appreciate your opinions and suggestions.

They are certainly not redundant! Leyline of the Void/Tormod's Crypt are for Eldrazi graveyard-shuffling hijinks....that's why they're in the sideboard. Haunting Echoes is great in a mill deck in general, but it's sorcery speed won't stop a single Emrakul.

About Panoptic Mirror, that is a great idea! It would take a little heavy investment at first, but the upside of casting it for free forever after is pretty awesome. Any suggestions as to what I should switch out for a couple? I would probably use 2 Panoptics.

This deck is very cool. I would definitely have another win condition take up 2 slots in addition to Rolling Terrain, though. Phyrexian Metamorph copying their creature before you it up, and beat them in the face with it maybe? That might not be the best recommendation for a win-con, but I feel like you gotta have a back up plan! Throw 2 Wormcoil Engines in or something.

Aside from that, this looks very cruel against a lot of decks. It might be worth splashing white just for 4 Enlightened Tutors to ensure you get your Liquimetal Coating!

Thanks! Mind Funeral has always been one of my favorite cards since I started playing. It's just so damn cool!

Chalices would certainly help me kick SS, but I don't know what I would replace. I'm already at 62 cards right now, which stresses me out lol I can't figure out what to cut!

Summoner's Pact won't get you either of the cards you want it to, because they're not green. You could use Painter's Servant to make everything green, but that's kind of taking the long way around.

Demonic Consultation is banned in Legacy anyway. This deck is for casual. The one I made has 4 Demonic Tutors in it lol :p

Path to Exile + Archive Trap would be a really sick combo, I just don't think I want to splash white... And Drowner and Tome Scour are great 1 drops but I don't know... I don't really see anything I could take out.

Control and mill are a pretty interesting match-up. It really all comes down to the draw! I think Lim-Dul's Vault (isn't that card crazy?) would give this deck a slight edge, since I could just look for a bunch of mill cards in a row (hopefully) and pray that you don't counter all of them lol. I'll check out your control deck! Thanks for the comments!
