Hi agnorak262,

Happy to see that the Treasure Hunt deck type I orginated is inspiring others to new variations.

I also just want to say that this deck idea as far as I know originally was first talked about by Archiphres

See his comment on my
Stupid Deck of the Day

I also I made a very similiar deck to this and posted it a week ago and got no comments so I deleted it.

Glad to see that it is getting some recognition now.

Well you could always trying include one of my favorite card Show and Tell plus Ancient Tomb, and Lotus Petal so you can set up on Turn 1 for win on Turn 2.

Lotus Petal + Ancient Tomb play Show and Tell put into play
Gilder Bairn + Training Grounds + Paradise Mantle

Hi heinrich_himmler,

Glad you like this deck. Have any of your decks you want me to look at?

As to your question about how Maze of Ith and Argothian Maze works here are two explainations:

Borrowed this answer from http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090802220541AA3DCpL

Okay, first..
You attack with the Elder.
You untap it with Maze.
You tap the Elder to use it's effect. Remember it is still combat phase, and the Elder is still an attacker.
You can keep on untapping and tapping Elder and Maze, because Elder is still in combat and attacking.
The Elder is never removed from combat during the infinite loop, and it is still attacking, even if you use it's ability.

It's like how an attacking Vigilance creature can use its Tap ability during combat. It's still attacking, but it doesn't mean that you can't use its abilities.

Here's another explaination taken from http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=19203

Here's how it works:

1) Declare Argothian Elder as an attacking creature and tap it (because it's attacking, not to use its ability - that comes later).

2) Tap Maze of Ith to use its ability, targeting the Elder. When the Maze ability resolves, the Elder will become untapped. It is still an attacking creature, but it now won't deal or receive combat damage.

3) Tap the Elder to put its ability on the stack, targeting the Maze and one other mana-producing land (We'll call it a Forest). If the Forest is untapped, tap it in response to float mana. When that ability resolves, the Maze and the Forest will become untapped.

4) Tap the Maze, targeting the Elder again. When that resolves, the Elder will become untapped (again) and still won't deal or receive combat damage.

5) Go to Step 3, rinse, repeat, and finish with an arbitrarily large amount of mana before your opponent declares blockers. Then, hopefully you have an instant you can use to finish off your opponent before you mana burn to death when the combat phase ends.

Level 2 DCI Judge

Hope that clears things up.

Hi jabe480,

Easy way to get Emrakul out on turn 1

Lay down Ancient Tomb and Lotus Petal tap them and play Show and Tell
If you have a really great hand you can put into play

Emrakul, the Aeons Torn + Lightning Greaves + Standstill

See my Torpor Dreadnought Deck if you'd like details on how the deck might be built

Hi Thorai,

Glad you like the deck. Do you have any decks that you want me to look at?

Most of my decks are for casual group play. I generally don't give a sideboard unless I think the deck is really tournament worthy.

Yes, I agree cards like Hexmage, Despise, and Damnation are good cards to have in sideboard against Planeswalkers (I know you didn't mean plainwalkers ;-))

Hi biermann1,

I took a look at your deck and left a couple comments. Your idea about Kaho, Minamo Historian got me to thinking about an even better combo with for SOTI using Djinn Illuminatus + Pact of Titan!!!

i will be making a new Sundial/Show and Tell/Djinn Illuminatus Deck soon.

Show and Tell might help you get some of your stuff out faster.

Timewalk + Isochron Scepter is infinite turns on a stick if you don't mind being not legacy legal.

Final Fortune + Sundial of the Infinite + Isochron Scepter also infinite turns.

If you really like Isochron + Silence/Orm's Chant you might want to look at this deck

bman5604,

The hurt is not as bad as on my opponent. If the Smokestack is not destroyed by the opponent in two or three turns my opponent will more than likely have to sacrifice all their permanents as the counters build up Smokestack. Once all the opponent's permanents are gone I just let Smokestack sacrifice itself and I typically will have an unsummitable lead due to lands in play and cards in hand.

Hi ESPRcon,

Why no Brainstorms. Good quesiton.

Originally had 4 Standstill in deck for card draw, but I pulled them because they really weren't helping deck enough and put in 4 Eater of Days instead. While the Eater of Days addition was an improvement I forgot that deck still needs card draw for help find stuff; especially Stasis. So addition of Brainstorm would be a very good thing.

Orginally deck had 4 Enlightened Tutors (instead of Mental Misstep) but counterspells were then not in sufficient number to help protect combo and more importantly there weren't really enough blue cards to adequately support Force of Will.

So I took out Enlightened Tutors and put in Mental Misstep (using Spell Pierce was another option) I like Mental Misstep more because it ups my protection against an opponent's attempt at a possible 1st turn combo kill and can be suprise disruption to an opponent's Spell Pierce, Daze or Duress.

The difficulty is what to take out so Brainstorm can be put in without weakening deck?

Can't take land out. The deck has barely enough mana sources as it is. Absolutely can't take out Show and Tell and Stasis they are the core cards of the deck. I'm very reluctant to take out any counterspells deck. The deck barely has enough counter spells to protect the combo as it is. That only leaves artifacts. I guess I could take out 1 of each. Which I'll do.

Let me know if you can think of something better and thanks again for the suggestion.

Hi thegreenestberg,

Sorry, but Stifle is better. Pithing Needle doesn't help get Phyrexian Dreadnought.

Pithing Needle only stops activated abilities of the named card from being activated.
Phyrexian Dreadnought's ability is a poster-child of a triggered ability.

To be more complete, Pithing Needle stops activated abilities. These are always written "Cost : Effect." Notice the colon. Triggered abilities start with "Whenever," "When," or "At..."

Trickbind and Torpor Orb also work instead of Stifle.

If fact I have made several decks based around breaking Phyrexian Dreadnought

Here is one that includes Trickbind along with Stifle
Stifle Trickbind Verion 2.0

Here is another that uses Torpor Orb
