I'd pop in a 4th chromatic lantern too, getting 4 black for your obliterator is going to be tough otherwise. He's probably the key to your deck so getting him on the board is paramount.

I like the flavour but I think at 4 mana it's just too expensive to play in this deck ( i know that makes no sense with all my huge creatures, but I'd rather be playing other cards in my deck with a 4 cmc)

Hedron Crabs are excellent with any kind of fetch land. I run 4 in my mill deck, my favorite card.

Thanks I was originally looking at undying, but there aren't many creatures that have effects when they enter or leave the battlefield (to my knowledge) and of course this is just for casual play with my friends. so not worried about tournament legal.

Thanks man for the ideas, as soon as I get my hands on some more honor of the pure they will definately be heading into the deck,. Field marshall is also a great option.

I like Path to exile, but one of the main reasons I run a deftblade is for his ability to provoke, and then use the catapult squad do do direct damage prior to combat damage. Worse case he's still a 1 drop that ends up being a 3/4 or worse by turn 5

I like the idea of this deck, I have yet to see a soldier deck build with such high mana costs but a brute powerhouse once you get going. You can check mine out for a quick/beatdown/control style. May get some ides to boost things without the mana cost.

In my opinion Mobilization would kill in this deck as you can use it multiple times later in the game, and it only cost 3 to get out, rather than Captain of the Watch. and if you already have a few pumpers, you are esentially tossing out 2/2 or 3/3 soldiers every turn.

Thanks, your probably right about focusing more an the theme of the deck. I'm just worried that in case it doesn't work for whatever reason I have the illusions as offence/defense.

Is there anything specific you would change, taking them out would give me a good 12 cards to adjust.

Yeah I totally know where you are coming from, Black/hunted seems to be the best combo, I just wanted to see if there was another way to work the deck, it seems to be working well, but obviously not where it could go if I use black.

Thanks

Very cool, if you pull Phantasmal Images that would put this deck over the top copying a lord of the unreal but they are pricey. Not a huge fan of the Phantasmal Abomination, but I'm an aggresive player and would rather put something in that can do damge to an opponent. Doubling up the warriors would so the trick, or Jace's phantasm as an early flyer with the potential to be a later game beefcake.

Oh Ghostly prison would work really well, in fact I just added 2 Lord of the Unreal today and removed the phantom warrior and a Warclamp. Just as a way to beef up my cheap illusions in case I don;t get the Suture Hunted combo going. I've play tested it a bunch of times and have been dropping hunted on turn 4 or 5 and stacking 10 damage because I've had 2 suture priests on the board. I'll see if I can pick up some sleight of hands. Much better than whispers or obsessive search.

Thanks for the ideas

Hey, I'm new to the site and back and playing magic again for the 3rd time. I just keep getting sucked back in....lol

Just posted the latest deck that I build around Hunted Phantasm, using suture priest and different types of clones to either copy the preists and do big damage with the phantasms or copy the phantasm and then hit big.... would love yours and anyone else's thoughts.

True, for some reason I thought it was an instant. Volcanic Geyser might be an option too. Or Flaming Gambit although it's not standard.

How about Devil's play as an instant, it also has the benifit of flashback so that a pretty much guaranteed win in the turn 6-7 of the game.
