meier, though having as much burn as i do does not offer as much pure board presence as do creatures, It plays really well with the creatures I do have in here, and will make my time against control much easier. not to mention, the more burn I have, the less creatures they will have, which lets the creatures i do have get through easier. (and how good is Porphoros and pyromancer when your only running 8 instants in a deck?)

hey zipec, the decks looking good, but against aggro isn't it foolhardy to not race? Chandra is good, but it seems like against very aggressive decks it would matter very little if you get to use her 0 turn 5 and 6 if they are dropping your life (or burning her) super fast. having pyromancer actually in the deck (i noticed you mentioned him in another version of this) would be great to stifle them long enough to get great use out of chandra. Against everything else the deck looks really strong. the dragon is great against G/W life gain, your sideboard covers you from most control and other hinderances. I like it. And if you want to see my slightly different version of the red deck here it is: http://www.mtgvault.com/somesoggytacos/decks/do-theros-red-decks-win/

Lightning Bolt is amazing, I agree, however its not standard legal which is why I'm not using it in this deck.

With most of the things going out, I noticed that new things will be coming in. magma jet, lightning strike, and shock can replace my current burn spells while chandra's phoenix and Ash Zealot, and boros reckoner are all still legal to smash the opponent creature wise. sure I may end up switching some things (I was actually thinking of turning this into a minotaur burn deck), but I think keeping it mono for the burning earth is quite possible. Though depending on what theros has maybe it would be better to dabble into another color. only time will tell.

Well i agree with you, but what creatures ARE value creatures? and thats why I was running Skullcracks main board. . .

Ok, I changed it up. I did not put burning trees in, but rather left vexing devil in and added brimstone volley. (because thats just a great combo) would some of you please tell me if what i did was good or bad? Im liking it, but you guys seem to have a lot more experience in this field than i do.

So, trying to listening to all of you. Say I took out all my red/black stuff and thunderous wrath. If I threw in 4 burning trees, 2 lighting maulers, and 3 hell riders would that be reliable? Or would I need to throw in more burn?

yeah, that makes sense. And i am just experimenting with the fast red deck idea. Rakdos I completely agree with, thunderous wrath for the most part yeah. slaughter games I'm hesitant to see go, as thats the best way to get rid of all the things that would make this deck obsolete and dead in the water (life gain, mass whipe, etc.) but i guess I can. but what do you mean by reliable? yes vexing does not hit the battlefield most of the time, but its 1 for 4 damage, which in a deck running lots of burn (like thunderous wrath) stacks up really quickly. Cards such as Rakdos Cackler and the like are nice, but sooo vulnerable to removal that in a deck like this i feel like they will just be made fun of.

Thanks for the comment. I do have a couple of questions. when is flames of the firebrand a good card to sideboard in? (i have never used it so my experience on when its good dwindles)
and as far as skull crack, why is it bad to main board one or two when there are so many life gain decks? (G/W hexproof enchants, control, any R/G midrange etc)

Burning Tree Emissary? I thought about him, but at best i can play him into a searing spear. he does not work with ash zealot or boros reckoner at all. should i throw in lightning mauler too? then take out ash zealot. and your telling me to remove slaughter games and toil//trouble for more rakdos return, this makes some sense, but does that not go completely against burning tree? rakdos return is a late game spell while burning tree is suppose to make things quick. and what else would i throw in? (asking because you told me to remove 13 cards and throw in 6.) thank you so much for the help though! i will see what i can do.

Also other cards I do have are ash zealot (3), Vexing Devil (2), Shock (4) Past in flames, mizzium mortars (2), thunderous wrath (2), and some other random stuff. (of course I would love to throw thunder maw in, but i don't think thats an option at the moment. So should I throw some of those in there?

ahh, deathrite shaman is a pretty good idea. also do you think that searing spear should go over skull crack? maybe 2 and 2? the problem with my deck I find is when they do pull off a sphinxes rev, or a thragtusk etc. it really makes it hard on me to make up for that life. How do you think I should do that?

yeah, that is the problem with it. well all I can say then is that it looks good, and if you want to see my somewhat similar but not nearly as good version of this,

I see what your saying. Well one option would be to use mycosynth wellspring and maybe a phyrexian core or two, that would definitely let you get some land onto the field. Another much more flavorful approach which may be really weird would be to use crucible of worlds and mill yourself till you reach x lands and play those. sounds really weird, but it makes bloodhoard a beast. and sorry that thats all I have.

21 land being not enough? (just asking because one of the main ways this deck has betrayed me has been giving me too much land) and thanks for the suggestions! I will see what I can scavenge before I try the deck again. As for chaos imps its a really weird choice that I will probably remove, its just so tempting to have a 7/6 flying trample (haste/lifelink/or double strike) on the field. Thanks though and I will see what I can do!
