I had a Rabid Wombat...probably out of a Fifth Edition booster pack. Can't remember if I played it or not, but I had Venom, too...so possibly. :)

I had the same response to Godsire. :D Since you haven't asked for suggestions, I don't know if you want any...if not, just ignore me. ;) You can fix your mana, have some early blockers, & ramp your hydras out faster using Axebane Guardian &/or Overgrown Battlement; add Assault Formation, & you can attack w/ them, as well. Also, Deadly Recluse is nice. These cards are all in good budget, by the way! Good luck w/ your deck, hope you enjoy it...& welcome to being addicted! (See flavor text on "R&D's Secret Lair".)
Your land count seems too low...2 more?
When I played a Scion deck, I ran about a dozen or so dragons (& a mana-base that let me hard-cast them efficiently if I drew them), ran control & reanimation, & abused the fact that I could play in all 5C. :D (Given that an opponent may either steal your Commander or make you shuffle it into your library, I tried to build a deck that could function well w/o it, needs be.) Would like to see Mana-Charged Dragon in here; the Moltensteel + Skithiryx combo is a classic. Good to see dragons, good to see 5C EDH, good luck w/ your deck!
*or (The latter is obviously riskier...some decks drop 1 SSG for 1 Desperate Ritual, run only 1 Lightning Storm, & don't run Mystical Teachings at all, replacing the latter 2 w/ more draw...Telling Time is a popular choice.) - Sorry, this + ^ was all supposed to be 1 post...technical difficulties. -.- Left you a like last night.
Pact of Negation

Came across a similarly themed deck a few months ago (ie, Zubera & shifters). The tribes that were unique to it was certainly one of the hallmarks of the Kamigawa block. Re your problem of potentially decking yourself, if you prefer to use an instant, maybe put in Turn to Frog or Ovinize in place of Ego Erasure. If needed, you could target 1 of your Rushing-Tide Zubera, making it lose all abilities.
Triggering Mayael's Aria only requires having 1 creature on the BF w/ power 5 or greater, at which point you put a +1/+1 counter on each of your creatures at the beginning of each of your upkeeps, & there are a number of ways to accomplish that in this deck, such as monstrosity w/ Fleecemane Lion & lifegain (via Sovereign, Caracel, & Hero's Reunion) w/ Ajani's Pridemate. 4 out of 5 of the Ajani's can provide +1/+1 counters, & 2 can provide lifegain. Flavor does seem to be a considerable factor here, but discounting someone's choices w/o bothering to look closely at them doesn't really serve a constructive purpose. Also, you made no recommendation as to how you think the deck might be improved, which s/b par for the course when offering critique...otherwise, again, it's not constructive.
In that case, I'd agree that Carrier Thrall is a good suggestion; it hits for 2, can give you some ramp, and/or something to sac to Smothering Abomination. If you want to be able to maximize delve w/ Murderous Cut, you probably need to run fewer permanents & fill in w/ spells that buff, burn, or draw, such as Titan's Strength, Sure Strike, Wild Slash, Exquisite Firecraft, etc. (either that, or go w/ lower CMC kill spells). BR is actually one of the more challenging ways to go w/ BFZ Eldrazi, but I think you're on track to having a fun, playable deck.
Guildgates? (Hold the Gates) :O !!
Some of these cards would make me want to flip the table. ;) +1.
Don't know if you saw it, but there was a full eclipse of a blood moon just a few weeks ago. This deck appears to be it's evil spawn. O.O
Love the theme; lands would be nice. (Sorry, I couldn't resist.) ;) +1.
Nothing in Standard, because my group doesn't play it...which tasks me a little at this point. I used to write-off Standard as too confining, but I've come to appreciate the challenges inherit in building solid decks in a more limited environment. The deck I'd most like to try playing at this point is 5C converge (Temur, splashing WB)...there's actually quite a bit in the format to support it, if you utilize cards like Hardened Scales that put add'l +1/+1 counters on. Unfortunately, most of the converge cards themselves are pretty clunky, but a couple could be pretty sweet, in the right deck. I'll be watching to see if the mechanic is better supported by OGW. Be nice if Wizards decided to run w/ it, like they have w/ prowess.
Yeah, I've done the same thing. :(
Not legal in your deck, as it has a W mana symbol in it's rules text. If you're good w/ colorless mana, though, there's always Boreal Druid. Also, Orochi Leafcaller lets you pay G to produce any color, & since it's not a tap ability, you can use it to filter as much G mana as you need to. Both are budget-friendly.
There's plenty of good mana dorks, but for 1cc, w/ a body, w/ evasion, & any color mana, this is it. Not saying everybody needs or wants that...just saying that's why it's more expensive.
This definitely has some value that the UB/WB options lack. There's an Abzan Rally deck on the front page that points out how ridiculous Rally can be w/ Nantuko Husk, & Whirler Rogue's ability makes it even moreso.
Re your question about dorks, there's no other budget 1cc options I'm aware of in-color. You might want to put another 2cc dork in to replace Honored Hierarch, though, since w/o renown, it won't help you.
