I think it will do pretty well against control, because I have way more threats than they do. I would just side in the other 2 spellbombs, olivia (flying, creature stealing vampy with protection from doomblade) and the inferno titan. I would definitely side out the slagstorms then, and count on my titans to take over after their counter spells ran out. Mimic vat is fun against control as well....

Like I said above - if I put in elesh and day, then I might as well just build a Wx deck. The white requirements increase pretty dramatically when you start talking about those 2 cards. I wanted a r/b deck that dominates in a creature heavy meta and I think I've done that with this one. O-ring is the best catch-all card in standard... I'm not arguing that it's not better than beast within, but I haven't needed beast within in order to win games yet. It's just an extra back-up plan in case I play someone with a lot of pw's or enchantments.

And there's always sweet sweet Karn. I don't know if you've ever seen what happens after he comes out, but he does his job VERY well.

Doj and elesh would both mean multiple w requirements. It would have to be more than a splash to make it consistent. I don't want a white deck though. I made the deck to wreck the small creature decks that are so prevalent right now, and black and red are the 2 most creature wrecking colors there are. The green splash was solely to flashback ancient grudges, but then I threw in a garruk and a few beast within's for added removal. Garruk works well because he only costs 1 green mana and puts out deathtouch tokens that come in handy vs. pretty much everything but flyers. He can also screw up somones birds of paradise.

And ancient grudges are plenty of artifact removal, imo.

Yes sir! It IS some tricky wording, but since it says each and not all, he's protected. Which makes the synergy between he and the storms so great. He's still alive and kicking even after I sweep their army off the board. And all my other creatures are too big to be killed by a slagstorm (bringing Olivia out only when I can make her bite someone, so she starts off at 4/4).

Yep. Those counters are definitely permanent, but the way I play it is to sweep before she ever comes out. Once she or one of the titans is out, I'll hold any extra sweepers/kill spells in my hand as backup plans. But honestly, once shes out, I usually don't need another sweeper. At that point I'm taking over the game with karn or just biting everyone to death with olivia, or fireballing everyone with inferno etc. etc. And I've also usually got some life-gain going on at the same time with batterskull/wurmcoil/pristine talisman. And sweepers arent counterproductive for me against aggro because my creatures will ALWAYS be bigger than theirs. Once I start dropping titans, I take over the game pretty quickly.

And undying evil is an awesome trick, but I couldn't find room for it. I tried running mikeus the unhallowed in here for the same purpose, but it was too gimmicky, and a lot of "win more".

Another card I love in this deck vs. aggro/tokens is massacre wurm. That card is the ultimate finisher against small creatures. Try it out. Especially when I got it in the mimic vat.

I had tragic slip in there and I have been rotating cards in and out of the deck for the past week, trying to figure out what works best. I love that card, so it may end up back in there.... But I honestly think that slagstorm and black sun's zenith are better cards to have in the mb with my meta. People who rely on creature ramp get their feelings hurt when I drop a sweeper on turn 3 and/or 4.

Garruk is in my maybeboard actually. I've been trying to figure out where to fit him in. I would need to increase my green splash a little bit though...

Glissa is awesome. But she dies to red too easily. My meta has no less than 5 people running different variations on rdw right now. It's annoying to have all your shit burned by the most brainless deck in standard. That's just my opinion though.
Good suggestion.

4 slagstorms+2 black suns zeniths in the mb = sweep city. 2 more black sun's zeniths in the sb and 3 ratchet bombs do equal shitloads of sweeping power. The beauty of black sun's zenith is that it's the best sweeper in standard right now. It goes back in the deck for multiple uses. Olivia is awesome in this deck. I wait to bring her out until I can bite something with her, then the next turn, if I don't steal that creature, then I will just bite everyone, making olivia a super-strong flyer. Olivia is a weenie destroyer. She eats token decks up and doesn't have to attack to wipe out a weenie army. I've taken over many games just because the opponent only had doom blades as removal, or she got too big for burn spells to take out. She's great in this deck. This deck was built for her.

The ramp works. It works well. It doesn't matter if 2 of the ramp cards (pristine talisman) are colorless mana, because they give me some much needed life gain AND give me ramp. And 4 of the ramp cards are any color mana..... so there's that. I have never had trouble drawing double black or red by the time I need it. And Im consistently able to cast karn by turn 6 or 7.

If I have a crusader then it really works almost as well as a slagstorm at keeping early attackers off of me. The faster decks are generally red or white so he's protected. But his first strike infect ability lets him dominate green and black aggro as well, because he actually makes the creatures weaker before they can strike back (if they live through his strike).

I beat 2 fast poison decks, a frites deck (the guy actually got elesh norn out on turn 4), and a b/w tokens deck with this last week. It's so consistent that I don't want to mess with anything. It has some shaky starts sometimes, but almost always manages to recover and take over.

Throw it together and try it out against the top creature decks right now. It won't disappoint.

I need them pretty often, actually. There are several top decks using swords right now and I want to have an answer for them when they come. It's such an awesome 2 for 1 card that the green splash is well worth it. Also, I just added beast within's to the line-up (thx mr. miller) to handle enchantments and planeswalkers. So that's another good reason for the green splash.

I like this deck, man. I would just replace the horrifying revelations with more distresses. I would add a couple more lands as well. You've got some big creatures in there that are going to take several black sources to get out. Reduce the number of sheoldreds to 3. You don't want to have a handful of her at any point in the game since she's legendary (one at a time, ya know? ;)).

Liliana helps too, but who can afford the bitch?

Keep up the good work.

It's my idea of a dirty trick. I get to blow up the gy of the half of my meta that uses gy based strategies and draw a card for bonus. Then I guess it just turned into a black draw card. In the second game I would probably side them out for the undying evil, which is another fun trick to play, because nobody expects it. That's a lot of my strategy in deck building.... confusing the shit out of the opponent. I never bring the same deck to fnm twice. It's boring. :)

It doesn't work that way, majician. Try it out for yourself. How many times can you like a deck? If it's more than once, I'll give you a shiny gold watch (not really) and a brand new carton of eggs.

No man. I was joking here ^^. I didn't boost my decks to the front page. Read the postings. Mine aren't the only one's being jacked up. I've had a few that legitimately made it to the front page...

I didn't care then. I don't care now.

Once again. I don't know wtf happened, but its not something i did. Shameless self promotion is fun and everyone does it, but I did not magically boost my shitty, (and more importantly) incomplete decks to the front page. I want feedback on maybe 1 out of every 15 decks I make. That's why I don't publish them (finished deck status).
