Not at all, but at the same time Gothy has very much been a my opinion is the only opinion when challenged. He puts out empirical data with his own slant to support his ideas with no consideration to what it means. Specifically in this case he used the last open and the only the top 8 to support how Eldrazi Ramp isn't a top tier deck. Then tried to further this by using Jim Davis's words 'a good meta call' to imply a non tier 1 deck beat every other tier 1 deck, with a perfect record mind you against the field, as the end all be all. When in reality any deck which wins a tourney is a good meta call either by guessing the field and SB more correctly or in Gothy's option just got lucky with the deck itself. Let's be more clear, if the field doesn't prepare for a red deck a red deck prepared for the field will have a huge advantage and we've seen this time and time again. Yet this fact is completely gleaned over because of this perception of what is and what is not considered a tier 1 deck. Certainly you can classify decks by tier just by raw power and completeness, but to completely dismiss a deck because you feel it isn't a tier 1 deck and has up until now been severely under represented in tournaments as something other than a powerful and tournament worthy deck is pure folly and quiet honestly a complete lack of understanding how the standard format flows from week to week. This is of course my opinion on the matter and is by no mean the end all be all. So yes I will troll him from time to time because it's the way of the world to call people out on shortsightedness. If you want I challenge you to provide a more complete reason why you think this type of deck is only subject to a 'good meta call' and post it here to have a real debate on the subject.

And? Gothy you always think you are right, but time and time again I've proven you wrong. Eldrazi Ramp is a tier 1 deck with the win at the PC and will continue to gain popularity in more events. Just because the field has been sucking on the tit of Abzan and Jeskai black doesn't mean it's not tier one. To be fair the deck has been under represented in almost every open with the meta not changing much from week to week. It still beat up on the same top decks at the PC that will be in every open till Oath starts.

Damn this deck is sweet. It crushes midrange and aggro while being a total sieve against Eldrazi Ramp. Haven't played against any control decks yet, but I have a sneaky suspicion it will hold it's own especially post board. I recently swapped out Narset Transcendent for Noyan Dar, Roil Shaper since it fits better with my SB as a whole. The reason being I end up taking out several enchantments for instants which would make Sigil of the Empty Throne less viable but improving Noyan Dar, Roil Shaper as a threat while also never needing to side out Planar Outburst.

Deadly Wanderings should be Languish IMO. I would even prefer Dark Petition over it. Even though you are not ramping there should be 4 Shrine of the Forsaken Gods in your mana base. With all that being said dumping Horribly Awry for some Drowner of Hope would be a huge boon since you are going with U/B. In all honesty dumping all the counterspells for removal would give you more reach. Since you have such a heavy graveyard strategy you may consider Ulamog's Reclaimer as a SB option against decks which run any delve effects. Could also toy with Sire of Stagnation. Getting him in play a turn earlier could be really good, but I've never used in any brew yet to see if milling two and drawing two would be enough to consider it playable.

Eldrazi Ramp just took down the Pro Tour. Somehow it isn't tier 1?!? Gothy you are not paying attention. Targeted exile doesn't care about Crackling Doom when everything you cast affects the battlefield. Least you forget Ugin's Sanctum giving the deck much stability and recursion. The fact is you better have Crackling Doom otherwise the game is over. Even then a resolved turn 5 Ugin is the biggest trump card in a standard card pool without Hero's Downfall. If you would of said Infinite Obliteration was the reason then your comment would have some debate worthy qualities. Until Infinite Obliteration becomes main deck material, which it never will, then Eldrazi Ramp in all it's many forms is going to continue to find success in this standard and will probably only get better with Oath of the Gatewatch. However, I do agree, in this deck, Ulamog won't be very effective since the goal isn't to cast it.

I don't know what to tell you john721. It's not the end all be all decklist. If anything it's in its infancy and most likely going turbo fog is the wrong way. Could just go U/R and lots of spot removal or U/W and have a more traditional control look. I don't know, I do know this strategy works in standard and with the right color combination it will work in Modern.

It's cool if you don't like the deck. No I have not played it, but I play something similar in standard and it works just fine without Painter's Servant. I know if you play less than 25 lands and I have a Painter's Servant I'm going to mill you for more than 4 cards on average per draw. Is modern different in deck composition than standard...yes. Is modern creature dependent...yes. Is modern more creature dependent than standard...not sure, but it seems like it.

This deck does work, it mills 2 cards until there isn't a match or there is a land. By making your opponent draw and mill at the same time you are milling at a minimum of 3 cards per turn. This is if you get no match with Sphinx's Tutelage and have no other drawing mechanisms in place. Granted there are unfavorable matchups like dedicated burn decks, Tron with Ugin, and Amulet Bloom. Reread how Sphinx's Tutelage works.

Ghost Quarters could certainly be something in the SB to combat Tron. I changed Painter's Servant to the SB in favor of main boarding Surgical Extraction so the deck would have game against Emrukal decks along with the ability to kill combo pieces from mills.

I'm aware of how tutelage and servant works. Most modern decks run less than 24 lands because of fetchlands. Plus it only takes a single repeated mill from one draw to make this effort worth it. I'm taking my results from standard which has been more than adequate as long as the field wins primarily by creatures. The amount of draw for you and your opponent is effective milling. Every card drawn by your opponent is a card milled. Thus the reason for the full boat of dictates and mines. The card draw helps me more than my opponent in most cases. Amulet bloom not being one of these cases. Painter's Servant is almost a win more card IMO. With fog time is on my side. There is no other effective way to mill in modern. Tutelage makes this possible.

I guess because getting Painter's Servant isn't the crux of the deck. If anything I would want a turn 3 Sphinx's Tutelage with a Painter's Servant as a max utility/combo card. I have very little experience in modern, but I expect this would matchup well against Splinter Twin, Collected Company, and Delver of Secrets decks. Not sure if the Tron matchup is that great since Karn can exile permanents. Definitely any creature decks will suffer against this.

Really would like some SB suggestions. This deck has a bit of an identity crisis, but this shouldn't stop it from functioning in a fun and creative way.

It has 6 dragons. How is this not enough? Even Esper Dragon Control runs no more than 6. Taigam Scheming is an experimental piece at the moment. Since this isn't quite a control deck I wanted to facilitate the earliest possible Tasigur, the Golden Fang. Thanks for the look.

Don't know if anyone suggested this, but as an alternative win con you could play some number of Anafenza, Kin Tree Spirit for infinite +1/+1 counters.

You have 67 spells to 22 lands. This is your number one issue. Got to make some cuts and get this down to at least 61 cards with 24-26 lands.

Kolaghan Forerunner/Goblin Rabblemaster + Ajani Steadfast. Also more Crackling Doom, insanely good card right now. Just a couple of thoughts.

An update. With the resurgence of GR Devotion, I'm more confident now than ever Silkwrap will shine main board.

GR Devotion Tragets (18 of 34 creatures):
All mana dorks not named Sylvan Caryatid
Courser of Kruphix
Genesis Hydra
Den Protector
Deathmist Raptor

Love this card and where the meta is headed. Can't wait to stall the board with Pacifism and Silkwrap into an Elspeth, Sun's Champion tonight.

Tier 1 rating is an arbitrary nomenclature created for people like you who need a system to net deck from. Where do you think these decks come from...WotC gives them a list, a tier 1 list? By your logic this deck will never be a tier 1 list unless a pro plays something like it...what a joke.
