Heya Zaklax13!
I have a great deal of respect for your opinion, especially considering your experience and insights regarding competitive play.
I'm interested in crafting both a standard and a modern deck for FNM. Though I have played casually for years, the only tourney I've participated was a sealed deck tournament at the release of the Visions expansion to Mirage.
Sufficed to say, I could use your help.
I saw this deck for standard and immediately liked it. I made some revisions and wonder what you think... would you be willing to help me gear up an aggressive whuppin deck for standard?

Here is the link.

As it is basically a clone of this one, I haven't released it to the public.

Thanks ahead of time,
Shinza

thank you for the inout!
I'm trying to keep mana cost low. the merchant is eating up the 5 cmc slots.
Nykthos is an interesting idea... hmm,,,

I had divinity of Pride and Ghastlord each selected at various incarnations, but both have been relegated to the sideboard as I try to get my early game and spot creature/permanent removal off the ground.

And at the same time, I'm trying to keep this budget conscious since I'd like to actually play it IRL.

At any rate, keep the ideas coming! Rep +1 to you (an up vote delivered on the right side of your post).

All good suggestions! +1 Rep to you kind sir.

I will check out Erebos, hadn't even considered it.

As for scry land as 1 drop option.... brilliant!

All valid points regarding Boros Charms. Your reasoning is solid.

As for sorcery vs. instant, in a late late game, with a boatload of mana and at the end of opponent's turn, Sphinx's Rev could be a hand filler and a game changer. Much more than a draw 3. Its alot of ifs to hang on a card. I think the diggers are intriguing mechanically and allows graveyards to become more relevant in recursionless decks. In short, I think use the scalded tarn, the diggers and keep 1 Ajani and 1 Sphinx's Rev.

I still like Treasure Cruise. That's just my personal preference. Looks good your way too.

I just noticed that you already subbed out the Sphinx's Rev. Hahaha! Um. Yep. Attention to details... that's what makes me special.

good call! vamp hexmage is a planeswalker killer. can't have that! (snark intended)

Hows it look otherwise?
felt somewhat less inventive than some decks I've seen, but is supposed to be aggressive.

Thanks for the input!
The rite would be something if i pulled it off!
It doesn't really fit the black symbol profile
I do like the Whip of Erebos though.

Two black mana definitely fits the devotion goal.
What can I sunstitute out?

What do you guys think about me putting in Utter End (or 3)?

Btw.... +1 rep for both of you. Thoughts are valuable. keep em comin!

How about Treasure Cruise instead? To gain 3 cards (and 3 life) it would cost 6 with Sphinx. With Treasure Cruise, it would cost a max of 8, 7 of which can be delved. Dig through Time also costs 8, you get 2 cards instead of 3 and it requires 2 blue.

Unless you are hunting very expensive lifegain, I think there might be more value in Treasure Cruise.

Treasure cruise is admittedly a sorcery, but at 1 blue with a graveyard full of goodies, who cares.

The only concern would be giving away snapcaster fodder.

I noticed no Boros charm. Why is that?

Deck looks good.

The fun is in the imagining, not the application to reality.
Comedy of the absurd.
I can picture the scowling TurboGeek Ron in my group being forced by magic to buy pizza and provide drinks. Not gonna happen in reality, but is funny to imagine.

AjaniBeastMode, I applaud your pinpoint accuracy. Even if it pops the balloon. Rep+1

"Gas up the chainsaw" nice turn of phrase! If nothing else, this whole line of comments has been HIGHLY entertaining! Well done, everyone.

I used that combo. The wings have an ability called Aura Swap, which allows you to cheat in Eldrazi Conscription from your hand by returning the wings. It really has nothing to do with flying, its all about the swap.

Begin rant:
For the record... Jessie you deserve no down votes. Your insights to my deck constructions have been invaluable.
For shame he (or she) who arbitrarily down-votes. In a community of growth and ideas, the scalpel should be used much more sparingly.
End rant.

Thanks Julian. Rep+1 to you.
Should I be concerned with having spot removal?

Which is better....Mask of Riddles (2 CMC adds 1 devotion, fear & 1 card draw)
or
Infiltration Lens (1 CMC, doesn't help devotion, no fear, draw 2 cards whenever creature gets blocked)

Happy Birthday Julian123!!
This is just a funny deck! I especially like the imagery of ordering your opponent to do all household chores! For some reason I am delightedly amused by that.

Ok, so here's a deck I'm trying to make better.
Its based on black devotion and indestructible stuff.
going for alot of synergy.
could use your advise.
I'm avoiding adding more non-black.

here it is...thank you ahead of time.

Nice job, Jessie!

Impulse! Its a common too! I really should have included it in one of my decks (Aristocrat: Simic to Win It). Would have been a much better digger.

Nasty business, that combination of Enchanted Evening and Primeval Light. I like it! One more reason to like Swerve.

Here's a little ditty I cooked up for your viewing delight.

That's a really good thought! All my indestructibles would survive!
The problem is the mana base would be tough.
What was the black version of Wrath of God? Now that would be a possibility.
Not at all budget though.

I was looking for some good synergy with these cards. What do you think?

Btw, thanks for your suggestion! I'm clicking the up arrow on the right side of your comment to increase your reputation +1

Looks like you got it!
I do like this deck. I'd rather have a 4th remand than a third spell snare.

Will you take a look at my latest modern deck?
