You really need to make the deck fast fast fast.
Make all you creatures one toughness, like Hellspark, Ball Lightning etc., and attach Skullclamp to draw lots of burn. Then you'll never run out of cards that way..........

Nice deck,
But I'd consider dropping the Silverblade Paladin. There better 3-drops out there, and soubond is a pretty weak mechanic with so much cheap removal around.

I love tribal decks in tribes that aren't normally done. Kudos man.
Looks like a pretty solid build for a casual deck too.

Any chance you could offer me some advice?

Sleep would be nice in a deck like this - although I dunno if it's standard or not.
Do you find you get enough draw with this list?
What turn is your likely win?

What turn are you aiming to win?
What alternative win-con have you got if someone sideboards in Leyline of Sanctity?

I've seen mill decks run Painter & Grinstone and mill someone's entire deck on turn 3, but still have a Laboratory Maniac and some Dread Return in case Sanctity appears.
What's your plan B?

Here's my selfmill deck on a budget;

Thinking out loud;
Ritual, Pawn, Ashnod's could all help me get this out earlier.
5-CMC might not be that much of a stretch!

LOL
Yeah it would be. I didn't even know of that card.
I can just imagine everyone's faces when they see that come out after a Clamp.
I have to get one of those for this deck - i just have to!
No dount this card is gonna make a turn 6 kill-all inevitable. he he he he he

Thanks!

Cheers.
Yeah that's a fair call.
This deck is vulnerable early - so anything that sucks life from me like Lacerator would be pretty risky.
Dismember is an awesome card, but once again, 4 life is a big deal in a massive multiplayer game.
I wanna nuke every player in a MP game, even those playing lifegain, with a 40+ exsanguinate as early as possible.

When I first started playing with this deck, I had 4x Infest/BSZ in there, a few Innocent Blood and (funnily enough) a single Sorin Markov!
But I found that most of the time they were dead card's.
With Skullclamp and the Ghast, with all the tap-lands, I'm drawing a huge amount of cards every turn.
Once one Clamps is out, it doesn't take me long to get multiple copies of my pieces.
I may try a few creatures that give me more control, like maybe Wall fo Souls.
Maybe even No Mercy for an enchantment version of the Pharaoh?

The S.D.top is good in blue/artifact decks for sure, but I'm not a huge fan of it personally, just simply because you only get to see the top three.
I'd rather use good ole Liliana Vess for her tutor ability instead of 'viel personally, especially cos her ultimate is soooooo good for this deck.......wish she wasn't 5CMC though.
Beseech the Queen at three mana is a bit slow, there's a few other tutor's that would be quicker if you don't like Vessy.
Vampiric, Imperial or Demonic are good if you have access to them.

Anyways;
Any chance you could give me a hand with my deck?

How quickly do you find you mill someone?
I'm not sure I would like to play against this deck, but against a reanimator or dredge deck you're toast!

I would think the best way to mill someone to death would be to use Painter's Servant & Grindstone.
On turn 3 you've just milled their entire library in one swoop.
The rest of your deck can be devoted to whatever tools you need to find your pieces, counter, draw etc.

If they happen to have a Leyline of Sanctity, you could always have a Laboratory Maniac in your deck as a backup plan so you could mill yourself instead.
hermit Druid is a nice guy for decks like these, especially if you include Noxious Revival/Reclaim to get what you need.

Nice deck.
I love black decks full of sac effects.

Any reason why you're only running 2 Pawn of Ulamog?
I would've thought with all the sac effects, that guy would be an auto 4-of to fuel your sac engine?

Here's my take on Grave Pact, Skullclamp & Bloodghast.
I'd really appreciate any input!

Ta.
I'm not sure you see how my decklist interacts?
Brainstrom & street wraith are very important to how it works, and both improve consistency. The wraith is a *free* draw card, useful cos cycling effects can't be countered by many cards at all.

Delver isn't a good fit at all. It does nothing to improve draw consistency.
Curse of the Bloody Tomb is tricky as it's an upkeep effect, and I want to win instantly.
Daze (or another cheap counter like Spell Pierce) & Muddle the Mixture is essential.
Having transmute for Ancestral Knowledge or Paradigm Shift is nice, having a counter attached is nice too. In testing, the maniac is ALWAYS a target for instant removal, so instant's are gonna be necessary to either counter or to draw my way to a win.

I did think about Thought Scour.
After I've cast the Shift, I wanna put down the Maniac and cast draw spells to win in that same turn.
I'd preferably want instants with cheap casting costs.
Thought Scour looks useful for this, the same way as Brainstrom. The problem is, Thought Scour also increases the size of the graveyard before I cast a shift, and it doesn't help me get the cards I need like Brainstorm. The reason I have all the cards like Opt & Augury Owl is to avoid ditching what I need into the GY.
Ideally, I want the graveyard to be fairly small before I shift, so post shift, I can cast the Manaic, and easily draw only a few cards to get the win. The larger the graveyard, pre-shift, the harder it is for me to win, especially if I draw into land or other stuff that denies me winning that turn.

I'd alsi consider something like Ancestral Knowledge to find what you need. Much cheaper than those expensive tutor's.......

Have you considered Kessig Recluse?
I'd think about putting in 4x Penumbra Spider = card advantage.

I'm sure there are better ways to make this deck work.

The games where this deck wins, it does it easily. But the ones where I can't find my combo I just get owned...badly.
So I'm thinking of including something a bit mor unfair.
Ancestral Knowledge can nuke the top 10 cards of my library, giving me good draw, and it can give me a small library after I've dropped the Shift. More useful than Tormod's Crypt, although the Crypt is better agianst reanimator of course.

Another thing I noticed, is that the deck really struggles against aggro & stompy if they're running land destruction or counter. Sundering Titan out on turn 3 recently was horrible!
So i'm thinking of putting back in some Augury Owl's just for protection and scry.

Yeah I know, but it's just not fast enough.
Drop it on turn 4 or 5, and I'll have to mana left to counter/draw etc. if I don't have a *free* one in hand.
