I have been blessed with the cards that I plucked of these past couple of sets so I am only $150 away from making this deck. Right now money is no object for this deck unless we start talking something like bonfires of the damned. Help me make this deck compete.
Nice deck, I have seen a few other blue/green creature stealing decks and this is what I have to suggest. One of the creature stealing decks used enchantments such as rancor, and rootwater matriarch to steal peoples creatures. Also it used the green enchantress to keep a full hand. It was pretty nasty. The other one that I saw was puka's mischief where they used that to trade useless cards that hurt the other player with good cards they had. Just some ideas.

Try adding some evolving wilds to the deck. It will serve two purposes: 1st: Thinning out the land in your deck 2nd: If a land is showing and not a black card with vampire nocturnious then you would be able to reshuffle your library for another shot at a black card being revealed
I have this deck has well. I remember when the rats first came out I immediately used my 4 thrumming stones for it. The only suggestion that I have is patriarch's bidding
I play tested it tonight, it worked really well so far. I was thinking of maybe splitting the hymn to tourach and inquisition of kozilek because they both are really good, the thing I like about inquisition is that it allows me to pluck out the annoying things like unsummon, path to exile, and swords to plowshares. Then again I loved seeing the look on my friend's face tonight every time I hit him with a hymn to tourach. I did run into some instances where I already made him discard all the stuff that cost 3 or less. I didn't get the dark confidant's though, he ultimately decided that he wants to keep them. I did get one thing though that I wanted tonight from my local game store... 4 lotus petals (for $3 a piece.. they were slightly used but still in good condition). I am weighing the option if I should add them or not, getting them in the beginning would be great but later on it would not be what I want to draw. I really like the dark tutelage but if I had to take out a card it would be them to make room for 2 lotus petals. It is just that I hate that beseech the queen states that it's converted mana cost is 6 and I would hate to take that damage. I do like diabolic intent but that would mean that I have to add creatures to sacrifice (maybe a priest of gix), I am considering it to swap out the beseech the queens but I am not quite sure yet. I like a lot of what you suggested so far but I am getting to a point where I am having a hard time parting with certain stuff or making room for other stuff. What is your opinion on this. I thought about how apostle's blessing could not only protect the marit lage (or hexmage) but also possibly make it unblockable so I thought it would be a worthy card to add. I also came across another interesting card the other day searching through my cards (that I didn't remember at all) which was Darkness ( a black holy day ), I thought it might come in use due to the games I played today. My buddy has a legacy exalted deck that runs on sovereigns of lost alara and eldrazi conscription which is a deadly combination when you include things such as finest hour, fetch lands, lotus cobras, noble hierarchy, and rafiq the many. I was just pondering if I should slide in protect for decks that cause a tremendous amount of damage fast (kind of like mine).
Drumhead, what do you think of me adding four verdent catacombs to the deck. I figured since nothing costs over 3 mana that if I can thin out some of my lands that would give me a greater chance of either drawing a useful card (or one of the lands I might need). Also my friend is considering selling me two of his dark confident for a good price so I might be replacing the two dark tutelage with them. Overall what do you think so far.
I ultimately decided to add the one Phyrexian Obliterator I own to the side board, I figured if anything it would be something nice to keep them distracted until the combo goes off.
A very nice looking deck. I think I mostly have my deck figured out (although I am kind of considering getting some lotus petals... a first turn 20/20 would be insane). I wanted to know what you think about adding ragged veins to the side board, I think it would go really nice with the deck because if someone gets something like a ornithopter (or any other cheap flyer) out, then I can flash in ragged veins after he blocks it and still beat them.
A splash of blue I have been considering but I have been trying to avoid it, it would provide greater protection but I am trying to work my way around it and keep it mono black. Blood Pet and Diabolic Intent are two really great cards with each other. Another one that I am considering it throwing in some rite of consumptions, they would give me the chance to kill an opponent without swinging on the second turn, possibly saving me from waiting for them to draw a path to exile.
One last thing is that I need is I always do a horrible job of choosing the amounts of each card that I need. I know I need 4 dark depths, 4 urborg, tomb of yawgmoth, and 4 hexmages to help the chances of the combo going off but everything else I just kind of want. Maybe I can lessen the amount of expedition maps and beseech the queen to make room for some spellskites and death's shadow.
Alright, I do like that nighthaze let's you draw a card but I replaced it with funeral charm. That will at least give me some other things to do with them if I can't give my creature swampwalk. I am still not too worried about taking two damage for the mental missstep because I need it to keep marit lage or hexmage alive, if I can't accomplish that then I would lose anyways.
