For that thornbite staff, Vampire Nighthawk is the perfect companion. He doesn't do direct damage, but the equip cost is free.

I think it is the latter. The spells resolve in order, not simultaneously.

You don't skip the final turn from kurkesh, because the artifact doesn't need to be untapped. Therefore, you have 3 turns from the vault and one from kurkesh.

You would have to equip paradise mantle to another creature for the combo to infinite. Simply tap that creature to pay for kurkesh's ability on each new turn.

Echo mage has to be turned into an artifact with liquimetal coating or mycosynth lattice first.

Wouldn't that be .. 1 extra turn per 1 red mana.

Also, you would get 4 turns for 3 mana. (1 from time vault + 1 from kurkesh - 1 skip turn to untag time vault) + 1 tap time vault.

Finally, paradise mantle on kurkesh, and the combo is infinite.

I like it. Finally a way to make the flavor text meaningful!

Um ... I know how to do skill checks, but how do you roll intelligence? Do I just roll a d20, and add my modifier to it?

Not as powerful a final product, but annoying enough. Kurkesh is freaking awesome.

Detain is pretty awesome ... and it greatly increases the chances of your Daxos connecting with their face. It can also ruin or stall most combos that require a creature to work (for example, duskmantle guildmage and mindcrank).

I will begin by talking to the proprietor of the fine establishment to familiarize myself with the city. While not a skilled magician myself, my upbringing has granted me an appreciation of the magic arts, and I wish to find a mage as a traveling companion.
