I'd add some card draw in here, to make more use of walking atlas and jace's erasure. Divination, think twice, visions of beyond (later on). Also other good mill spells for mono blue; Tome scour, dream twist, thought scour (+ u get to draw card). Personally I would swap the Kraken Hatchlings for Fog banks. Cut down 2 Traumatizes and the redirects to make room for some convenient mill/card draw spell.

Another thing I was wonder about was that you got 20 land, which seems pretty relevant. U got 20 land, and a lot of ramp to abuse the landfall ability of the scrib nibbler...BUT..as it is the only way u mill your opponent, you will mill your opponent for the maximum of 40 cards with extremely good luck. If your opponent plays B/U control your only mill engine will be no serious threat. U need to think of alternative cards to support your milling, and I'm afraid Green doesn't contribute with much. But look into Black and artifact milling cards for support. Also the Rack would combo nice with your other creatures except for Primeval titan. Also reducing your opponents handsize, will make him have to discard, so u might wanna think of a way to punish him/her for having to discard constantly.
"For each creature token in play, its controller puts a creature token into play that's a copy of that creature." Parallel Evolution doesn't surve its purpose in here as I don't see any tokens in this deck :)
Looking at the currrent situation, one can't alone blame the player's at this site for creating shitty decks, you've got to look deeper than that. With the all growing interest towards the standard scene & limited options available in deck creations results in more and more crap getting through, but it's also a positive sign that such a downfall is recognized. Wizard's still the one who keeps the powercards in their hands, and has the possibility to make changes on the field. I understand many old player's like to keep their noses out of standard because of its limited options. It's a business afterall, and money rules over everything in society and wellfare. Wizard and the co-workers are no exception. I'm aware of the fact I'm stating the obvious here, but before judging the current status of the player's and their creativity you have to broaden the horizon, and look at things from a wider angle. Stimulus = Response. By merchandising MTG over to the world of entertainment electronics, with the launch of the Duels of the Planeswalker gamesseries for xbox,ps3 & PC back in '11, has without a doubt brought a lot of newcomers, and even old players (like me) to the scene. Their knowledge and creativity's based on less experience and having missed most of the editions before today results in attempts of failing miserably in the eyes of veterans to the sport. It's not all that black and white ofcourse, but if the majority around here for example have a similar background what else can you expect? Therefore standard provides an easy/easier way to get familiar with the game again, especially if one's in a hurry to compete.I don't see standard scene as a failed attempt, as narrowing the utility of cards pushes one to being creative as well, the only real downside I feel's the abusing of extremely powerful & ridicolously expensive cards, thus coming back to the money leeching of the big companies. If u don't have such cards, you're screwed, and also it makes decks look more or less monotone & grey, when the lack of variation, every sideboard looking the same color by color. Ehhh, enough with the gibberish, as with this site and its problem/s. The top deck section seems to get overflooded by such standard decks mentioned above, and non-relevant talk in between suggestions and arguments. Argumenting and constructive critisim feeds the learningprogress & cuts back on ignorance. I like seeing decks on the frontpage that are a result of different point of views, fresh and innovative. Decks that refuse to alter in the progress, without changing a bit, despite all the creative feedback and suggestions don't deserve the acknowledgement. It's nice to see decks that work their way to the top, adjusting in the progress and becoming a deck characterized by co-operation, encouragement and support/liking. That's what the fundamentals of the community's about. :) Even this reply failed to bring any advices and or substantial support to your deck SWN, but I felt like clearing my mind :)
You got a nice standard deck here, if u cut out the lightning bolts, and add inferior standard burn. I'm on the same line with Urza what comes to high manacosts. Charmbreaker's ability and pumped up body is sweet, but i'm afraid you'll never be able to use him before its too late. I would rather focus on Talrand's ability and more control. Dissipation field isn't a bad option but since this deck runs on sorceries & instants, you would do better off with it in my opinion. - Charmbreakers - Hatchlings - Spelltwine - Lightning bolt, incase u want a standard deck + Manaleak + Searing spear if choose to make it standard + Ponder Favorable winds might work here, as to boost your drake tokens, but still i'd prolly prefer keeping enchantments out and focusing on sorceries and instants.
If u wanna keep bouncing Geralf's back and forth, then add a couple of Hex parasites for maximun undying!
I like the fact everything's playable with 3 mana, except Day of Judgement. I honestly don't see any major gaps in this, it looks like its effective as it is. I'll surely give it a like. U could consider though adding Geist-Honored Monk, because it fits the theme quite good & or Thraben Doomsayer the slow token engine. If u feel like it, wanna take a look at my Standard U/G/B splinterfright deck, feedback's always appreciated :) http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=364213
I see a dilemma between Blood artist and Diregraf captain, you would get the most out of diregraf having more zombies. Now u got shapeshifters that u can turn into zombies..but I would still try to stick to either making the most out of Blood artist and his skill or Diregraf captain. A few suggestions if you're not worried about the budget; + Geralfs messenger inexchange of either Cackling counterpart or Clone. + Gravecrawlers + Tokens (Vile Rebirth, Moan of the unhallowed) + Then you'd need a sack engine to trigger all the abilites and make them combo. I suggest either Bloodflow connoisseur or Mortarpod. Example; T1; Swamp + Gravecrawler T2; Swamp + Bloodartist T3; Swamp/island + Bloodflow connoisseur/ T4; Swamp/island + Geralf's messenger + Bonesplinters/Tragicslip if needed or play Gravecrawler back and sack him again. Geralf enters the field opponent loses 2 life, Sac Geralf's messenger/undying triggers - oppnent loses 2 life again.Sac Gravecrawler twice as u play it back with 1 remaining swamp, Blood Artist triggers during this, u gain 3 life, opponent loses additional 3. So That's possible 3 or 4 life for you depending on if u play instant or Gravecrawler back0, Bloodflow C 3/3 or 4/4 if u sacked Gravegrawler twice, opponent loses 7 life. This happens before combat phase. These would drastic changes to your deck and the original clone idea, but if u took out a few clones and mutilate (which I honestly think u dont need), u could easily make room for the cards. If u are not in a hurry, check out my standard deck also, and looking for more constructive feedback. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=364213 Cheers!
A young man asked Socrates, "What's the Secret of Success?" Socrates told the young man to meet him near the river the next morning. They met. Socrates asked the young man to walk with him into the river. When the water got up to their necks, Socrates grabbed the young man and then pushed his head under the water. The young man struggled to get out, but Socrates was strong and kept him there until he started turning blue. The young man struggled hard and finally managed to break the surface and the first thing he did was to gasp and take deep breath. Socrates asked "What was it you wanted the most when you were there?" The man replied "Air!" Socrates said "That's the secret to success". "When you want Success as badly as you wanted air, you will get it". EDH is still no-mans land for me! I'm like the young man in the quote , I only see a chaotic mess with my blind eyes, but I'm eager to discover the golden path :) Don't mind the over-drama quote. +1!
Because I like zombies I can't help to not like it, also for the idea of making it B/G! Parallel lives + Endless ranks of the dead sounds pure evil. What bothers me slightly is the speed... U got some ramp there, which is nice, but can u really get Army of the damned out in time? I've never been too successfull with Army of the damned, therefore I doubt its purpose in this deck also. My suggestion would be to remove Army of the damned and add a plains & Intangible virtue to buff your tokens and give them vigilance for 1W. U got Abundant growth in there, by splashing white, you could make this deck even more devastating and faster. :) If you're not in a hurry, would u mind taking a look at my standard U/G/B splinterfright deck? The community's been to great assistance, helping me to make it a complete deck. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=364213
My first concern was decks that attack my graveyard, now we seemed to find a solution for that. Ground Seal and Withbane Orb both really good options in here. Second of all, well Black and Blue control in general. Delvers, morbid effects like Tragic slips, bone splinters, heavy sacking would make it hard for my big creatures to stay alive. Come to think of it, my friend runs a standard B/W deck with some nasty destructive combos; Thraben doomsayer + Skirsdag flayer + Ravenous Demon + Reaper from the abyss + Tragic slip/Bone splinters + more tokens, that's a combo I remember at it was that fun :D
Mana Leak and Beast within both soon to be rotated out, so dissipate is gonna be a good replacement, but how about Beast within? I hope RTR brings some sorta green spot removal.
True that, it's a waste having both wreath of geists & Bonehoards, and if i wanna be really strict both would have to go since getting bulk on the battlefield isn't a problem with this deck. Wreath of Geists could speed things up though, so I'm keeping it a while longer and removing Bonehoards. Manaleak has gone through my mind, dissipate being slightly slower a counter, I would prolly go for the 1st option in this case. The thing's I'm still kinda new to the game, been collecting, building & playing casually for about a year now. I used to play MTG back in mid-nineties, then as kids usually do, forgot about it once founding something new and cool. :) In my group of friends, we play casually and never really focus on the sideboard, as we aint that competitive. So that's an area where my knowledge's still lacking. I would wanna take this deck into the big sea though and see how far it would sail :) Thanks for your input Alkalord, appreciate it! I'll make room for spot removal in side.
I would prolly go with 4 Metamorphs & 2 Mortar pods! The more Obliterators on the table the funnier it gets!
This deck seems awfull... ...y brutal & sick.. I say this everytime I see a Phyrexian obliterator..that dude is just too crazy.. U had any problems getting him on the table in time because of him being 4B? Have u thought of Liliana of the dark realms? well scrap that i had another look on your lands! Its fine! Have u had the opportunity to try this deck out yet IRL?
Thanks bud! Appreciate it! I see you made some changes already!
The idea here seems to be to gather a small army of tokens, do damage, gain life, i like rancor but tokens would certainly benefit from a global boost. I was thinking about that Intangible virtue right now :) or maybe even parallel lives.
Actually I should replace Garruk with his M11version,making this non-standard, gotta give him a red card too :D I'll strangleroots for some early aggro.
