The deck has three win-conditions:1) Discard Emrakul/Griselbrand with Izzet Charm/Faithless Looting, and reanimate them with Goryo's Vengeance. Goryo can even Reanimate Emrakul, as it can target Emrakul before it's ability in graveyard resolves2) Use Trough the Breach to get an Emrakul/Griselbrand with haste on the table.3) Hardcast Emrakul/Griselbrand with Fist of Suns.

The card is Fist of Sun, but the deck concept is called "Tin Fist" as an arch typical Modern deck. By combining Fist of Sun with Pentad Prism you can achieve the required mana base more easily. The version I posted for Tin Fist was featured by Cardkingdom in their New Year edition.
Right now your only win condition is Goryo, which makes the deck very vulnerable for graveyard hate. As the deck is now you will need to find two Goryo's to win the game, or be extremely lucky with Fury of the Horde. Chances of that seems a bit slim, unless you get to play completely fish-bowl. But you will struggle with that when sideboard comes into play in round 2/3.A couple of extra win conditions would vastly improve the chances of the deck. Either with Through the Breach or as a Tin Fist.http://www.mtgvault.com/roar/decks/tin-fist/
I love the idea, even if it is probably not the most fun deck to play :)
Any reason why you're not running fetch lands? They stack really well with Hedron Crab and Watery Grave.I would main deck Crypt Incursion. It works well against Eldrazi and ensures that you get up your life total, since most Mill-decks are a race against the clock.
Thanks :) Haven't quite tested it in any casual games yet. But will be fun to try it.
Yes, but afraid I'll be dead before that card hits the table....Playing these types of decks, you're really on the clock....
Nope, made it 2 sec ago :)
I'm working on it :) So far going with Words of War, until I can find something better...
His initial deck build is very similar to a regular Modern Infect Deck, which you can find a varieties off all across the internet. I'm assuming that he wants ideas to the deck, since he's posting the deck publicly here. Not all the cards are expensive. Might of Old Krosa, Simica Charm, Pendelhaven and Rancor are affordable cards. But even if you're not interested in spending a dollar for a card, it's always beneficial to know what to put on a wishing list :)
Based on how this deck is normally played in most Modern Tournaments, it's a bit too slow. If you've not won by round 3/4 you will most likely loose.Add Main Deck:4* Might of Old Krosa4* Rancor2*Simic Charm4* Noble Hierarch4* Plague Stinger4* Inkmoth Nexus2* PendelhavenRemove Main Deck4* Blight Mamba (too slow)4* Ichor Claw (too slow)4*Aqueous Form (too slow)4* Titanic Growth (too slow)4* Wild Defiance (too slow)Build your manabase to support this set up4* Misty Rainforest4* Verdant Catacomb3* Overgrown Tomb3* Breeding Pool
Based on the metagame stats you have there, I would say that this deck is doing far better then I would have expected in the match-ups. You should consider Ghost Quarters: - Helps against TRON. You will have a hard time to counter its mana ramp to a hardcast Emrakul.- Helps against Merfolk,. You don't interact with your opponent and islandwalking Merfolks have a higher aggro then treefolks.
I agree with d3NecromasterIf you're building a competitive deck you can't worry about whether the cards are treefolk or not. And if you are to spend USD 800 on a deck, you may want to ensure that it is competitive. Most Doran competitive decks utilizes both Tarmogoyf, Dark Confidant, Liliana, Path's to Exile and Inquisition of Kozilek. It is probably beyond your price-range, but Doran, Rock, Junk and Jund are the most expensive Modern decks to build. If you're building a casual tribal deck I would skip the costly fetch lands and add some removals and disrupts to slow down your opponents tempo :) Keeping it on an affordable budget level :)
How does this deck stack against other Modern Decks? Done any testing? From my perspective it seems like it is a bit low on tempo, and doesn't interact much with opponent.
If you want to move into modern you can start with a burn deck (Red Deck Wins). It's the cheapest competitive modern deck around and will only set you back around 100 USD in total.http://www.mtgvault.com/roar/decks/red-deck-wins/
You're not going to need much mana, so Nykhtos will probably slow down early game tempo. That can be devastating for an aggro deck. By the time Nykhtos is useful it will be almost useless.
I love how the new Theros adds to the Merfolk conceptI would consider for maindeck:- Spreading Seas to help with your landwalk ability - Merrow Reejerey to increase aggro- Replace Mana Leak with Spell Pierce- I consider Kira as a sideboard card in case you meet UWR MidrangeI would consider for sideboard:- Tidebinder MageHere is my version of a Merfolk deck:http://www.mtgvault.com/roar/decks/merfolk/
Ah.... I'm just thinking from a Modern Tournament perspective :) I guess Tarmogoyf, Fetch and Shock lands are out of the question as well....
Ok, Mine stacks fairly well in most metagames, but it is slightly more aggressive build.
