He most likely has Temple of Silence for the Scry and when he needs to put Toil // Trouble in from the sideboard.

Maybe you could sneak in some Revoke Existence in the side. That'll take care of gods and/or any annoying artifacts/enchantments.

Probably just 2 of each would be enough.

Seismic Stomp in the side is something I like against other aggro decks and/or Master of Waves. Burning Earth in the side for 3 colored decks like Esper control is always nice, too. :)

Legion's Initiative? Works with literally every creature, another way to survive a board wipe, and can keep Spark Trooper alive for an extra turn if you do exile.

I'd recommend Bramblecrush over the Into The Wilds. It's another kill (almost) anything (including planeswalkers) card and it costs the same. I personally think you don't really need more ramp... you already have quite a bit. Other than that, it looks good and fun! :)

Totally forgot about the temples haha

3 Angers and 2 Slaughters sounds good.

Why do you think Witchstalker is bad?

Ooooo, Burning Earth... love it. :)

The other thing I worry about is Detention Sphere. If I build something like this, I might splash a little while in the sideboard for Wear // Tear.

You could probably drop one Purphorus and one Chandra and throw two Fanatics in. Same CMC and everything! :D

I'm working on something very similar to this, but instead of Five Alarm Fire, I want to use Volcanic Geyser. I'm worried about life gain, though, like Whip and Sphinx's. How does this fare against control types of decks?

Thanks for the comment.

Yeah, I've changed quite a few things from playtesting this a bunch.

I recently took out one Desecration Demon, Deathrite Shaman, and Hero's Downfall for the three Thoughtseizes. I like ripping out board wipes, Sphinx's, and it's basically the only way I can deal with Blood Baron. I used to have two Plummets in the sideboard but replaced them with Skylashers.

Pack Rat has been pretty consistent. Works well with Mutavault. I can ditch Dreg Mangler and use its Scavenge ability or toss any other non-useful card to make more Rats. They can get out of hand pretty quickly.

Thanks again. :)

But the land would have to be a mountain. If it's not, it's a dead card. Definitely fit for sidebaord, though.

For your sideboard I would highly recommend at least 2 Skullcrack's. It's so underrated and underutilized, in my opinion. Not only does it cut Sphinx's Revelation's power in half, it let's you kill anything with protection. Need to kill another Blood Baron with your Doom Blade? No problem.

Haha I bet. Do you have the Jund deck you use posted here? How about your Esper one?

I wish this deck wasn't so expensive haha

Do you have enough removal? Is Fade and Decay your only answers for enchantments? What about a board wipe?

What do you side out for control decks?

Yeah... I agree with a lot you said. I was coming from my Golgari deck, that's why I suggested Ultimate Price and Plummet. You don't need those with how much removal you have haha

With all of your creatures being huge, you wouldn't have trouble with Jace, but Elspeth can exile any of your creatures (except Sylvan) and the Ooze (initially). Pithing Needle also shuts down Monstrosity, Underworld Connections, Pack Rats, Thassa, etc. I really think it's something to consider, but you also do have tons of removal, so it may not be an issue.

If Mizzium Mortars isn't useful, why have it? :P

And Skullcrack is great against Sphinx's Rev., Master of Waves, and Blood Baron.

For your sideboard, I'd recommend 1 Doom Blade, 1 Ultimate Price, maybe another Hero's, two Golgari Charms, Pithing Needle, maybe two Plummets, two Skullcracks... move Anger to your side and up the number of Mizzium's in your main.

Well, because with the Elspeth I have in there now, it costs one less mana. ;)

Yeah, I was planning to work out the amount of each card later. I just wanted people to throw in ideas.

Thanks for the suggestions! :)
