It makes me laugh when people dont understand the power level of a card......

I would ignore Berry here. Mantis Rider is easily better than Prog Sphinx in a deck like this.

I think you should be running 2 Narset instead of Keranos and Chandra, though.

you still have to guess what theyre going to cast, and set it up accordingly. COunterbalance only gives your opponent information in modern, without Top or even brainstorm to help it along. Telling Time is cute with it, but that seems like it requires too much setup....I agree with NASA. just run more draw. See Beyond is absurd.

Vendillion Clique does that, but youre right, needs more draw.

Conspiracy is not standard legal, so if keeping it in standard is something you care about, that does not work.

I know how force of will works, friend. lets pretend you are trying to flip Erayo the turn you cast her, as outlined above. Turn 2. Island (card 1 of 7), Cloud of Fae (card 2 of 7), snap (card 3 of 7), Erayo (card 4 of 7) Git Probe (card 5 of 7)

Now we will assume that you are drawing the land you play on turn 3, so that leaves Arcane Lab in your hand with one unknown card. IF that unknown card is FoW, then you have to pitch your lock to it to keep your game going if they try to kill Erayo when shes flipping, and that leaves you in a pretty rough spot.

Im not saying it cant work, im saying you should have a backup plan, and Chronatog doesnt seem to be a very good one....

what do you do when they counter your relevant spells? or when they kill Erayo when you try to flip it?

there is no card called "assemble the townsfolk" Perhaps you meant "assemble the legion" or "Gather the townsfolk?"

Ill cover both bases: Assemble the Legion requires red, but would be a decent fit in this type of deck as a top end.
Gather the Townsfolk is a horrible replacement for Raise the Alarm. they cost the same, produce the same amount of tokens, and you lose instant speed with Gather, to gain a bad mechanic.....

but that wouldnt work, because they wouldnt be "forest cards," Right, ZeBeast? x-D

but seriously, its a decent idea, but pretty fragile on a 0/1. probably worth a shot, though

and some kid on the internet is going to change that? When Riki is posting about cards, then redacting statements about those same cards, there are obviously some confusing elements in play. Just because some judges gloss over something in a podcast doesnt make it right. the way the cards are currently worded, YOU are wrong. Until there is a change in the wording, or the rules, you will remain wrong. I am not saying that the intention of R&D was not to make Kurkesh work great with TCV. If that is the case, Erratas will happen.

Regardless, save your time. Im not interested in your opinion. this conversation has been over for weeks.

Cabal Coffers runs on your lands, which are much more difficult to interact with than your devotion. I think Coffers is strictly better, for black decks.

since youre a casual build, you could run Urborg/cabal coffers to play some more expensive stuff, like Army.

just a thought

I like these additions. Ill toy with it a bit. thanks for the ideas. I may end up losing Countersquall for the versatility and card draw of remand, but who knows.

Lotleth Troll is not very good in a format that runs Path to Exile in nearly every deck. also, terminate and Dismember both show up regularly. the best part of Troll is the regen for (b), and all of those cards just shut it off. Ledgewalker does not die to any of these spells, and requires an Anger or Pyreclasm before you get a varolz online.
Golgari Charm is too good to be replaced by discard spells. I could see maybe finding room for thoughtseize, but Wrench Mind lets your opponent choose what they discard, and duress can miss. all of the cards mentioned are decent in the sideboard, including Charm itself, but I think Wrench Mind is just bad most of the time.

I think the card choices in the deck currently are fine. Ledgewalker has better evasion than troll, and charm does more than discard spells, though the charm slot is clearly a spot where some adaptation could happen.

Golgari Charm is real. Illness in the Ranks also shuts off Splinter Twin combo.

I really like the look of this deck, how does it do against the faster decks in the format? (Burn, Storm, Boggles, ect?)

its possible. Cryptic Command or Remand could be better than CounterSquall
