personal preference is 1/3 lands. I would sub 5 ramp spells for lands.
mana ramping with this kind of deck is necessary because in theory, if you don't ramp, you'll be able to play Progenitus turn 10, if you're LUCKY. You want to get this badass out turn 6 or 7 and start wailing on your opponents.

Ive ran a deck based solely on playing Progenitus, but this is a really cool & simple style!
I, for sure, suggest Spirit of Resistance, Kight of New Alara, Shard Convergence, Asceticism, and maybe Faith's Reward, Boros Charm and a few Leylines to protect your field.

I count one landfall creature. If Ruin Ghost was a stronger creature i'd consider it, but keeping the tempo in this deck is really important. There's really not much use of him with this deck.

since you're running black, a good way to take care of aggro decks is with early game removal, like Doom Blade and Devour Flesh. Fiendslayer Paladin is also great in standard.
One or two Archangel of Thune wouldn't hurt either.

what was the biggest problem? I'm trying to run a creature destruction type deck and have yet to fully test it, but the biggest hurdle seems to be the mana.

Grasp of Darkness --> Dismember
It may be a little more costly on the life total, but I've found it can be extremely useful removal in a pinch

If a land is a basic land it, without saying, taps for it's own color. There doesn't need to be a tap ability.

I run 2 Akroma's Memorials in my surge deck just to guarantee that win off primal surge.

What I've found to work really well with Primal Surge is haste. I'd suggest one or two Fervor, Fires of Yavimaya, Urabrask the Hidden, or if you want to go dragon, Karrthus Tyrant of Jund

Virulent Wound is more of an Infect card. Scar was considered in the making, but i'm more of a creature guy.
there's also a very bad vibe around Dark Ritual in my play group.

I like puncture blast, but don't let the red fool you. I don't want to make this a dual color, mono-black it will stay.
The sign in blood though, that draw I needed.

How do you effectively run hunted horror? There are about 6 cards that could take out the pro-black centaurs one at a time, but running all black creatures might be 6 damage a turn from those tokens.
