Hi masafumsa,

You've got an interesting deck concept, but unfortunately, you're not using the best cards to abuse the concept.

Personally I try to building around cards like Underworld Dreams and Lilianna's Caress. Make opponent take damage for drawing cards or discarding cards then use cards like Wheel of Fortune, Windfall, etc...

Here's quick throw together

4 Underworld Dreams
4 Lilianna's Caress
4 Howling Mines
4 Windfall
4 Arcane Denial
4 Rune Flare Trap
4 Snap Caster Mage
2 Perplex
3 Minds Aglow
3 Burning Inquiry
4 Underground Seas
4 Underground River
4 City of Brass
4 Volcanic Island
4 Mox Diamond
2 Chrome Mox

Hi demonking28,

Congradulations on your 150 deck.

World Fire is a hell of a card and this deck abuses it well.

Look forward to you 200th deck celebration.

May you always make your own good luck.

Hi silentecho4,

Really nice theme deck. Looks like it would even a give a good Merfolk deck a hard time.

gojsbelly,

Nice combo. First time I've ever seen it. When I get a chance I'm going to have to trying building it with some counter spell protection.

DoTheWumpus,

There may be better stompy decks out there somewhere. But this is the best one I ever saw.

Had a hard time choosing which deck. Legal or Casual? Standard or Legacy?

Choose on one of my Legacy legal decks. It has two combos that either get out Phyrexian Dreadnaught or Emrakul, the Aeons Torn fast and good counterspell defense.

I give you Torpor Dreadnaught

Hi Chewrida,

Take a look at this link to get more ideas about what to do with manabarbs.
http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Discussion.aspx?multiverseid=193748

I've never been a big fan of meekstone though I did once have a fun deck that ran Meekstone and Thran Weaponary (gives all creatures +2/+2) and Rancor. I find Ensnaring Bridge is a much better Moat like card.

Checking the Internet I found a fun combo of Blessing + Beloved Chaplain with Meekstone in play.

Here's a casual group game black prison/burn deck I made a long time ago.

Later I improved it by adding Death Pit's of Rath and indestructible creatures.

4 Ensnaring Bridge
4 Dark Ritual
4 Vampiric Tutor (Diabolic Intent now)
3 Pestilence
4 Crypt Rat (Later replaced with Syphon Soul which is evil in group game)
4 Culling the Weak
3 Drain Life
1 Bond of Agony
4 Slithering Shade (Almost seems to be built for Ensnaring Bridge)
2 Dark Suspicions (Later Replaced with Death Pit's of Rath)
4 Sadistic Glee (Later Replaced with Darksteel Myr)
19 Swamp
4 Mishra's Factory

Hi Chewrida,

You asked me to take a look at this deck. Interesting prison burn deck. Fun casual, but it would never make it in tournament. It has serval sub-optimal cards.

Drop Cerebral Eruption and Personal Sanctuary there are lots of better cards for the mana.

Traditionally prison is done with tanglewire / static orb. Might want to try it. Manabarbs is typically run
in decks that are heavy in artifact mana instead of land. May be you should considered dropping Manabards and adding Enlightened Tutor or changing your mana base.

If you really want to make this deck tourney worthy I'd research current Legacy Stax and MUD decks.

Hope that helps.

May you always make your own good luck.

Hey CommCzech,

As you see I went with "semi-big" creature route. Thanks for the suggestions.

Now I need to work on a sideboard.

Hi CommCzech,

Well the deck as it is currently is heavy hand destruct and creature control. The question is what do you think is more effective an addition. Let me spell it out

The deck could use the blood ghast or nether traiter to to help pay for buy back of cabal therapy.
Dark Confidant helps with card draw but "Bob" is risky card to use with 4 Obliterators in the deck.

Hypnotic Spector gives it the best discard creature in the Magic and reinforces the discard theme. The problem is there is an awful amount of ways neutralize it as a threat in legacy format.

Surgical extraction take advantage of all the discard in the deck but it typically won't win a game outright
by itself with it being the only extraction in the deck.

Demon Lord of Asmouth is great creature but the deck would need add more creatures to support it.

Diety of Scars is a great creature almost as good as Obliterator. Still 5 mana is bit a much for what is effectively a 5/5 trampler that may regenerate if you have enough mana. The problem is there isn't a whole alot of mana in this deck.

Demigod of Revenge is the card I like most for this deck. I could use some of my hand discard cards (especially smallpox) to put a Demigod of Revenge into the graveyard that way if I manage to cast another Demigod of Revenge I could be an attack for 10 hasted flying damage. Problem is most good Legacy decks now sport some graveyard remove sideboard and even in mainboard. The best part about
Demigod of Revenge is if it is countered *before* its triggered ability resolves, the ability will still resolve. In fact, it will return that Demigod of Revenge from your graveyard to the battlefield, as well as any others!!!!

Vengeful Pharaoh is an interesting card again like Demigod Revenge it often is most useful when it is in the graveyard and like Demigod of Revengemost good Legacy decks now sport some graveyard remove sideboard and even in mainboard.

Grave Titan this is an awesome card but like Diety of Scars mana could be a problem. But I like it just a little more than Diety of Scars because it has death touch and it make tokens that could fuel a cabal therapy buy back.

Bloodgift Demon is very good card. In some ways even better than Dark Confident as card draw will only cost 1 life if you target yourself. Its 4 toughness is its only weakness. There are a suprisingly large number of ways to kill 4 toughness creatures in Legacy. Dismember being the current most popular.

Head Games and Mind Sludge are great screw you cards if only they didn't cost so much mana. Also if the deck is working properly the low cost hand destruct should of already done most of what these cards may do if they get successfully cast. The real problem with these cards is they don't win the game by themselves.

Finally, Tombstalker this is the traditional go to creature for Legacy Black. Often can get out for 2 mana using delve ability. I was hoping someone might suggest something better than this.

So there you have my arguements. I think I'll add 4 Demigod of Revenge. What do you think, am I missing something?

Hey JerodMacDonald,

Thanks for input. Ghastlord is definate possibility.

Sort of suprised you removed your "To hell with your spells" deck it was a decent deck build around the same combo this deck is base on Erayo's Essence + Arcane Laboratory.

The more I look at this deck the more I'm tempted to remove Mornsong and Funeral Charm and up the Noxious Revival, Arcane Laboratory to 4 each and maybe turn the deck into a monoblue deck.

I fact, I think I'll post a mono-blue version of this deck and add the traditional combo card for arcane laboratory Ertai, Wizard Adept.

Oh Jerod, keep posting I know your decks haven't gotten a lot of recognition, but I think you've got the makings of a great deck builder.

May you always make your own good luck,

Planestalker

Hi JerodMacDonald,

Like your deck. Looks pretty solid. Don't quite get why you have all the reduced mana cost cards I would of put in counter spells, cheap discard, etc....

I thought up something very similiar and then later found you'd also investigated the same theme in this deck. Main difference between our decks is I incorporated Maralen of the Mornsong and I put lots of counterspell in mainboard. You can check it out at

I was thinking more like Blightsteel Colossus or Emrakul, the Aeons torn, Grave Titan, Wormcoil Engine,
Morphling, Jace, the Mind Sculptor, Lilianna Vess, and so forth...

Glad you like the deck. Leveler and Lab Maniac are very nice twosome. But I'm looking for a 1 card finisher.

Hi surewhynot,

The following card might make an interesting addition to this deck.

Worms of the Earth
Enchantment, 2BBB (5)
Players can't play lands.
Lands can't enter the battlefield.

At the beginning of each upkeep, any player may sacrifice two lands or have Worms of the Earth deal 5 damage to him or her. If a player does either, destroy Worms of the Earth.
