^ that right there sums up what i do to people i know who need knocked down a few notches. i dont have a deck like this one, but my infect, rakdos aggro, vampires, and wurm rush (ESPECIALLY my wurm rush) decks are usually pretty good at killing their win streak. really it depends on what they are running that determines just what kind of beating they need. if they insist on doing lots of spells on everyone's turn like control or burn, then its wurms. if they like to try aggro, then i use rakdos aggro. if they value protection, then infect. and if i just cant decide, then its vampires.

Wasn't trying to hate on it. I like that you have the cycle lands in it. Most people just Milligan until they get a treasure hunt and call it a day

Sometimes they end up there because if how the deck is built or a combo in it. I know my gilder bairn deck dominated the hot page for two months just because of the combo the deck was based around. The hot page is more of a shout out to decks that are "trending" for lack of a better description. They are usually there until something new takes its place. Now I'm not saying advice won't get a deck up there, just that it's fickle popularity really. But it still rocks when you see your name up there for everyone else to see :)

A tip for you: as great as phytoburst is, swap it for invigorate. It's a free buff for infect since it doesn't care about life totals.

That is actually one of the biggest misunderstandings in all magic. While lifegain is important, unless it's a focal part of the decks strategy, you should never try and squeeze in lifegain and you should never value your life total over the amount of damage you could do. That's why cards like dark confidant are so expensive, because they give such a huge advantage despite what it says

I like this build a lot! I would suggest swapping out a few of the battle priests for an ivorytusk fortress or two, and maybe an extra utter end

Yeah it's a good combo, but the tokens are better as chumps really. Save the space and just stick with damage based cards over Purphoros

Even though it does less damage, you should toss in shock. Burn tends to be all about instants over sorceries. Also, as great as he looks and is, vexing devil is only good if your opponents are getting into single digit life totals. Consider having young Pyromancer, since he works so well with burn and gives aggro decks a rough time

Wasn't trying to get into the nitty gritty of it, but I do agree. I just say the modern era because it's the one in which we all live

Nightblade and bond-kin together make all your creatures into a knockoff master of cruelties. That is not something opponents want to see. I've done it with my own abzan deck and my friends absolutely HATE that combo
