yeah, venser could go. but the maps were for a few things.
agaisnt rdw I NEED to get those locus' into play. the life gain is actually quite substantial, and i can't afford to lose that race, lol.
again, with the locus' it helps my ramp a LOT
and if i have a mindslaver, but no academy ruins, it completes the combo.

it does a lot more than just grab a land.

That's very true.. thanks!
But I still want a singleton Ulamog.. he's a utility. lol

But over-all, how do you like the deck?

Once I get employed and have a steady cash flow, maybe :P
But at the moment I'm saving up for FOWs and Underground Seas (:

GSZ i am considering, but I feel like dryad arbor is weak, honestly. He's reallllly good in NO rug, because he's a "free" creature for n.o., but in this.. meh. I don't cast him, so he doesn't trigger the vine :/

and I SHOULD use the goyf, sure, but I'm refusing. I'm being realistic lol.

and gaddock teeg is an excellent suggestion, thanks guys! (:

It kinda looks like it's still standard, lol. But it's REALLY strong in standard. And in a format with no valakut? 8-D

NOBODY tell me "ohman you should use the goyf!" Because I refuse to pay 100$ a pop for them. I don't plan on ever playing green in legacy, and should I ever, I'd buy them then. Definitely not for modern lol.

I decided to keep the land count fairly low, 24 as apposed to 25 because my highest casting cost is 4. I didn't know whether lotus cobras where really worth it in this format.. I consider it to be legacy without fow.

Kept squad hawks for shaman pitch, deck thinning, and vengevine recursion. all around great card!

elspeth, 'nuff said.

with a few doran decks going around, and other legendary creatures, metamorph proves really well. also she essentially adds 2 more copies of any creature in the deck.

considering adding swords, opinions?

spellskite is obvious.

KotR is really good here. I like him a lot.

Qasali, same deal.

I'm really considering GSZ. But don't know where to fit it.

And this was my rambling about this deck at 5 19 in the morning. (:
Advice is always welcomed.

Hmm.. I feel as if it's really... I don't know the word for it...
it looks weird to me. What's weird? I don't know. But I mean, it looks solid none the less.

I think a few more creatures could do you good, though.
Some to look at? Fatespinner. She's so good. In a control shell, she's amazing.
Venser, shaper servant. He serves as counter and an into the roil. I really like this guy.

Those are the top 2 I can think of at the moment. Both of which I feel could have a spot in here.
I don't really think you need 4 punishing fire. and maybe it's just me, but I have a deep hatred for cryptic command. lol triple blue in a tri colored deck? :/
Might slow you down, regardless of the fact that you only run 2.

Hm... I don't really know what to suggest here. My mind's really cloudy at the moment, and I'm just out of advice. Lol.

I'm commenting this to essentially tell you I didn't forget about this deck. :P
I WILL comment again with some actual advice.

But what are your main concerns with this deck? Maybe if you highlight those I can think on ways to improve them.

Meh, the more I play the more I enjoy modern. But if it weren't for the sudden spark of interest in my local card shop, I'd never play it.

And thank you! I'm glad you like the deck. and llanowar augur is really good with doran. I can assure this deck will get doran out 99% of the time by turn 3. We have 3 gsz to get him, 4 treefolk harbringer and 4 doran himself.. thats 11 chances to draw one, lol.

And murmuring bosk is a GREAT suggestion, thank you!! That's what my landbase was looking for! (:

Also, I thought about running a playset of thoughseize, and then some IoK, but that would make this deck more midrange. I don't want to play midrange, I want to bash face. lol.
I figured the best way to go about this was to just lay my guys, and turn 'em sideways. I just like sending guys into the red-zone.

And I'll check it out, now! No problem and thanks for the advice/comment! (:

Yeah, 4 dorans may be too much, but once he hits the field he is a HUGE target. So I like having as much backup as possible.
And yeah, after playing a few games, dryad arbor is questionable... still don't know how I feel about him. But i also feel the landbase is shaky :S
any suggestions?

hahaha not standard, well that's a whole different ball game :P

if I weren't playing standard I wouldn't even look at the idol.. lol

qasali is actually a great choice, thank you (:

I honestly thought about making this mid-range. with 4 thoughtseize and what not. But i feel the best way to go about this is to smash face... and it's also the cheaper way. (:

if it's anything like legacy, it'll be very suicidal. even more so, with the ravnica duals being the only non basic lands fetchable with fetch-lands. so, turn them brothas sideways!!

also i chose qasali over the skuller because it can be tutored via green sun.

p.s. i'm a red player trapped in a green-white hybrid's body. o.o

Yeah, the shields are half weak here. with doran they're pretty great, though. Open for suggestions.

And I agree 100%. Before, I was like "YESS, I get to use my stoneforges/jaces/bitter blossoms/batterskuls/swords ^.^!!!!"
Now I'm like... -.-' really?

This deck is cheap as hell to build, so why not? I have the fetches, and everything else is under 10$.

Just meant to be able to compete with my local meta.

1. this deck is legal post-rotation
2. whats hob?
3. champions = protection = bashing through blockers *with boost from temp. steel
4. i think porcelain legionnaire is a huge threat. im really not sold on the whole glint hawk idea. but i do love the hero.. maybe I could find some room, thanks (:

Well i like how the idol gets a boost from tempered steel, and survives day of judgment.

a lot of essentially creature-less caw decks run doj main, so it's nice to not get totally blown out over one

there's arguments for both sides, but i just felt this one was a safer call for my meta (:

Well, when I first built this deck, i was concerned about being able to pull off double blue mana, when the deck is so focused on double black. so counterspell was out of the question.
mana drain is banned.
and the lack of blue cards in the deck mana fow really not the best choice.

mana leak is actually a very powerful counterspell. and where legacy is so fast, usually people won't hold 3 mana up. if someone has a counterspell, usually that's it.

well, vindicate costs 3 mana as opposed to 1, and also it read "destroy". If I ever play the mirror I want to be able to exile rather than destroy. gets around a lot of indestructible effects.

Also, the sideboard isn't really tweaked the best yet, but it gives me access to leyline of sanctity. which is actually pretty relevant.

The landbase is actually very stable. 2 fetches means I've got access to all 3 colors. I've never had any mana problems whatsoever with the deck.

People have already stated that white may slow it down, and I understand completely. But it hasn't yet, and in my opinion path to exile is the best spot removal in the game.

hmm... didn't notice the only black card I had was bitterblossom.. LOL in the original build there were damnations alongside thoughtseizes, but I ended up taking them out.

I don't feel adding black hurts the landbase at all. Esper is so solid. Also black gives me access to leyline of the void post-board. But the more i think about it, the more I think I don't need leyline. Dredge will never get around double ghostly pirson, and reanimator will have a hard time, too.

I don't feel I have room for any thoughtseize... unless you see some, lol.
But going just w/u wouldn't be all too bad. (: then maybe I could add mishra's.

And 2nd crucible is a good call, but I feel going below 4 jace is... too slow. And I know that's weird in a prison deck, but I want to make sure I see them asap, lol. I'll cut a meekstone. I can tutor them :)

thanks :'D
