Nice call dude. I will SB those naturalizes if I ever enter a tournament! Elusive Krasis is probably a better choice in most situations, but I just love Shambleshark.

Man .... I like those ideas, but why waste proliferate on +1/+1 counters for vanilla creatures at that point? Why not aim for level counters or even creatures that can change those counters into extra turns (sage of hours =).

A ninja might be great as well, if it doesn't break the theme.

Here's a really iffy one - Levelers? It is an activated ability, but it is unique in that it adds abilities and is sorcery speed.

I think that Gravecrawler would love being here. If that costs too much, then maybe tenacious dead. A handy chump-blocker that doubles as an infinite source of sac fodder ... that's almost broken.

Hmm ... hidden strings might be better than ring of evos island. It's ridiculously flexible; untap creatures that attacked, lands, or artifacts that have tap abilities. In conclusion, it's a good replacement for counterspell if you're going modern.

Mana leak is a very good mainboard in place of or in conjunction with spell pierce. It can hit creature spells ... which makes it well worth the extra mana. (Possible replace for counterspell, too).

Treachery is so amazing. A possible replacement might be Siren of the Fanged Coast.
