I agree with cutting the soldier but disagree with the Matyr. Many do feel that's the way to go for the huge early game potential it offers. IMO however it's just a really bad draw mid to late game. I would suggest running Brave the Elements. any time it's drawn is great and it's great in pretty much every match up other then affinity/tron.

Is it safe to say Knight of the White Orchid will become a 4 of when Origins becomes legal?
Thank you. I've just finished rebuilding it this week. Been doing a bit of test playing against a few of my other modern decks and it's holding up surprisingly well.
LOL funny thing is wickeddarkman is the one who has commented on it. I've made a lot of changes since then so I've asked again. Thanks any who.
Made a bunch of changes and rebuilt the deck. Would like to know your opinions as of now.
I would have to say Aphotic Wisps would be the first to get cut. I will add that it's hard for me to make cuts on a deck that is already very well built without test playing it in a few different ways a few dozen times. If you happen to have time, I'm trying to make my mill deck Modern competitive. I know I know... MILL. LOL http://www.mtgvault.com/maniacalmaniac/decks/mlgnnt-mllng/
I'm surprised I never mentioned it earlier but Ball lightning is amazing when it goes off but paying 3 mana in a meta over run by bolts your in a position for opp to pay 1 mana to deal with something you paid 3 for. Hellspark Elemental in place of ball lightning may prove to do more, on average that is.
Nice deck. I'm thinking Honorable Scout or Starlight may have a spot in here. As well when it becomes released in Origins I would switch the diabolic tutors for Dark Petition. As well Regrowth could be a 4 of. (no longer banned or restricted.)
There is virtually no way to ever cast that in this deck. This needs NEEDS mana producers to ever work. Even then what would Recall be used for other then saving everything if an opp board wipes artifacts?
Go for the Throat in place of Terror its just better. The door is a lot of fun and works in casual but in a modern meta it's just expensive and to slow since it offers nothing at the time. Making your Baron and Lord 4 of's would be more useful. As well I don't think Gutless Ghoul is worth the slot so I would replace with 2 Inquisition of Kozilak. Swap Bridge to Thoughtsieze. Early hand disruption is key in the format when playing mono black since there is virtually no other way in dealing with enchantments or artifacts. The S/B needs a lot of work to for a competitive meta as well. You need answers for the top decks which your going up against. All that said I still like the deck but just feel in it's current build it's more of a casual thing. Just my opinions take it for that don't mean to rip it apart or anything.
I think Hellspark Elemental would fit the thyme of the deck much better then Vexing Devil.
I think you need to use half the amount of shock lands for fetch lands if it's an option. As well I believe Sword of Fire and Ice is gonna prove a better fit then Body and Mind. Other then that it looks solid to me. (with out testing it, that is). If you have a minute I would really appreciate some feed back on my new modern deck. http://www.mtgvault.com/maniacalmaniac/decks/dont-slow-down-or-your-dead-2/
I agree!
Well it certainly isn't gonna be the go to play 8 or 9 out of 10 times. If there happens to be a situation where you block a creature, then path your creature so you can guaranty that needed 5th land to cast Archangel the following turn, which is already in hand. Obviously very situatuional but with triggers happening when lands enter and a high curve in such a fast meta it may come up.
I really like this combo! I think you could speed up your combo by - 3 Dissolve -3 Glimpse the Sun God -3 Pacifism then +4 Path to Exile +4 Explore +1 Courser of Kruphix. As well I disagree with the Vitu-Ghazi suggestion. I don't ever see you wanting to spend that kind of mana on a 1/1 saproling which has nothing to do with the deck at all. Gavony Township however fit's much nicer. Explore adds card draw and will let you play the lands which are revealed by Courser making it even better then it already is. Path is pricey but for good reason, it's 1 of the best removals in the format and it happens to let you path one of your own creatures ramping your self. Which you probably wouldn't mind doing to one of your scry creatures after you declare it as a blocker.
4x Commune with the Gods needs to be in this build to get some creatures into the grave faster to take advantage of the general thyme here. I would cut 2 of each of the auras since your just gonna get 2 for 1'd any way.
Well the Fyndhorn Elves could easily be switched to Mystic Elves and the Gaea's Cradle for Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx making this a modern legal build. My only other suggestion would be putting Doubling Season to a 2 of and adding 2x Craterhoof Behemoth. Adding another great win con which has been proven in similar builds.
I will also add that the main deck pick should be of Liliana of the Veil. She's clearly the winner. Tho part of me thinks Serra Angel should get it since she's the original MTG beauty.
First off, I really like what you've created here! My suggestions would be Maelstrom Archangel, Miss Demeanor and Verduran Emissary in place of the Sphinx Ambassador, Darting Merfolk and Ponder. All of them need to go in my opinion. I mean I could "get behind" an Angel, Vampire or even an Elf without too many "road blocks" we'll call them. But a sphinx feels like it's crossing into bestiality territory and the Merfolk B/C well, Fish! Really? Who wants a Fish?
Safe Travels Northy! Hurry back so I can turn a budget deck idea into a non budget deck. :)
