So atlas, I decided to go through and build the deck today at my local card shop and it was around 120... pretty steep, but this is my deck till next block rotation so I might as well spend to take to tourneys in my area. Thats being besides the point..... I did follow your advice, talked to a couple buddies, and decided to change up the deck a bit to get into a little bit of a better focus like you mentioned. I'll leave another comment below with the changes, but thanks for the advice!

I appreciate the feedback, but I don't get how they don't have much synergy together, could you explain a little better?
The main points of this deck are:
-Blue creatures get beefed up with either grand architect or merfolk sovereign.
-Artifacts make most of the merfolk unblockable, if artifacts don't come out, spreading seas are there for draw power and to give opponent an island because most of my cards have island walk built in and are getting beefed up from eachother.
-Titans, I admit frost titan is random, but probably taking him out to thin my deck to 61, and then dropping a planeswalker to get it to 60 flat.
-The jaces are staying for sure, because of the sheer draw power he gives me, ajani is good to create an army, or if they board swipe, gain me life, and venser makes things easy by exiling either a sun titan/ frost titan/ another planeswalker to get more loyalty tokens, or even an invisimancer to get something else unblockable like scroll theif to do damage and get the card draw.

I would love any more feedback you have though.

I have a soft spot in my heart for U/B decks, and just cards in general.....You have outdone yourself this time "sure." Thank you for this, I would just add in a leyline of anticipation for when I play, just to abuse the flash ability even more :] Great synergy!

Well definitely look into the vengevines if you have the money, (or the luck of pulling it lol) they do stray away from the basis of what you are trying to accomplish, but if you tech it in, you have continuous sac fodder and you can combo it with predatory urge to kill something and bring it back same turn to attack. Another great one that fits with the theme of the "beatdown" you have with the protection is vines of vastwood, since you can pay green early game for protection, or get the +4/+4 on a creature and protect it to swing for something big which is always a good play :] and no one I've ever played against runs leyline of vitality, but hell, if it gets the job done the best, and you can bring it out opening hand for free? sounds good, just no more than three copies, because an opener with two is just a gamble. well atleast your creatures defense is buffed, but I'd say if you tried the leylines out, definitely add in oracle of mul-daya yo help get your speed back up and play more cards from your library faster, it should even out the drawback and get you land when and if your creatures die.

So...it took me a while to have time to hop back on this site : / I live over by LA and most of the tournaments here or people I play, I run into a LOT of blue/white control, it's a california favorite you might even say, and most still run baneslayer :[ which is ok late game, but I love when they need one more land, or have to tap to many to counter something and then be stuck eating my 2 drop 3/2's or anything to the face :] and day of judgements are fine, I run re-assembling skeletons in my black sac deck just for that :]

It seems like you have more than enough mana producers to get mana you need. You could try dropping two forests or tectonic edges to main either the plummets or the ascetisms. or hell you can throw in two vengvines just for the hell of it to be more in your face.

You can totally lose, when you copy shaharzard, you play a sub game with your hand and library, thats when the opponent attacks...... great deck other than everything around that. and If the opponent chooses his moves carefully they can win.

You can throw in some condems since their the new path to exile some say, or even some emerge unscathed so you can protect your combo, rebound it on your turn and swing for free unblocked. That is if it's not an artifact creature thats attacking you. You can also try to side in some fulgent distractions to stop two creatures and make them pay more mana to re equip next turn. Should give you a +1 turn early on especially if they are running weenie equip or infect rush with livewire lash. But yes, overall great deck and nice use of scars cards only.

I see. Oh, but I do know that the ruling on meddling mage is that once it leaves play (whether it's destroyed or bounced back) the named card can be played. -magiccards.info

ol it's the blindside factor. that, and if you wanna build another valakut deck. to each their own. I have another deck set up for just valakut and the other big decks out there. this is for fnm local play. and im sure with a couple of sides no one will have an "easy time" against this. but regardless and all else aside, thanks for taking a look and the feedback! :]

twisted image's target the precursor golem, say you have a semblance anvil out, artifacts and creatures now cost 2 less to cast, cast a precursor golem for 3, use one blue mana to cast twisted image on one, you now copy it two other times, making three in all, and you switch power and toughness, doesn't really matter since their all 3/3 anyways, and draw three cards for one blue, remember that power nine card ancestral recall? oh it's back alright. now lets say you had five mana and you hit another twisted image in those three cards. you just drew six cards for two blue mana, and have creatures and artifacts cost two less, big play next turn? cast for free a couple myrs for either chump blockers to sac and scry, or just for extra mana for rite of replication on a golem or anything else big on the field, if they kill eldrazi monument, then you have golems still, if they kill golems, sac each of them to scry in response, beefing up the blade of bloodchief equipment on any of your vamps. trust me, it works lol just have to know what your doing, and i believe if you go after one, they won't see the other coming.

yes... fetch lands would make it faster you are correct. But i never liked the loss of life unless I knew I was gonna win. I'll keep the fetch lands sideboard just in-case I play another infect deck to get my things out faster. Thanks!
