Indeed, this is why mono red burn is so freaking awesome. Though I don't get why you put in salvo over rift bolt. If your worried about getting burned twice off the idolion suspending does not count as casting a spell.

Good deck idea, but your missing some kind of wrath effect... Seeing as your most likely not playing anything to the board until turn five... and you don't have anything super interattive until turn three, seeing as your going to be wanting to save scatter to counter finishers i.e. hellrider/stormbreath/thunderbreak /siege rhino.

You really don't need the charm in this deck, so I would replace it with agony warp, it can blank damage from a later drop creature and kill an early drop creature.
http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=agony+warp

Now wrath of god type effects are rare in black making the good ones hard to come by... your best options here are Drown in sorrow

OR as your going to be relying on litches tomb to keep you alive not your life total, toxic deluge. This one is a bit pricy though, so id reccmoned trading for this, and keeping it to a two of.

So for two of either of those cards I would move the amulet to the sideboard, moving it back in if your opponent is playing a more control style deck.

Now I understand that limb dhal is really easily abuseable with lich's tomb once you get him out, Its going to be hard to get to that point. So having 4 reassembling skeleton or 4 grave crawler in there would be rather disgustingly good, and give you some more flexibility in the early game. To make room I would get rid of the minotaur abomination as he is doing the same thing as terrus worm but he has less value when he dies. I would also go down to two tombshell (RIP durdle turtle, never forget T^T) as though he combos well he is a bit too mana heavy for your deck to handle before you get the rooftop storm out.

http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=226565

Seeing as you have nothing taking advantage of the gate type land in your deck I would recommend you put in dismal backwater instead. It does exactly the same thing as the gate but it gains you life as well.
http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=391820

And finally I would reccomnd that you go down to 2 xenograft and get rid of strings, to add in 3 night's whisper. You need the card draw and those two are by far your weakest spells in the deck. They are cute but they just don't do enough and will only really work when you are already winning.

good luck and good hunting good sir! :3

p.s.
seriously though look up Towershell, that guy was so cute. Then he died T^T

all scions produce 1 colourless mana . With from beyond and call the scions by turn 5 with no wrath played this deck could have 8 mana available, more likely 7, but still 8 mana with a good draw.

My main concern with that plan though is your running no wrath spells at all...

you should think about languish or rising miasma for the side at least with probably some main.

The best deck in this standard and one of the most played aggro decks is akara red, so I would suggest looking at that deck list (aswell as azban midrange) and testing your deck agasnt them.

Some decks play very few creatures. You would add it in if ypu were playing a swarm deck. Like elves or, tokens.

Ah...then I guess the gift and outfitter will have to do in that slot. The rest of my suggestions stand though.

Ah so that's your thinking. I totally agree, being fast is good but, but getting to the late game with equipment that just boosts power and doesn't blank removel means that people can often survive and stabilise. I agree cheap equipment and equipment costs are good for speed though.

boots are good, if a little slow. but they can be a great budget replacement for the swords. I also agree with dispach.

I think plating just doesn't do enough here and you cant instant speed move it and shuko and bone saw are just worse bone splitters and you only need to be running four bone splitter.

This is a good start for a modern deck.

On a cheaper note if you want mana ramp your better off using knight of the white orchid rather than the scope, it will almost always ramp you if you play it turn three and the first strike makes it a great target for your equipment. :D

--------The cards I suggest below are expensive and will take time to trade into, or save money to buy.---------

As others have mentioned you would need dispatch and stoneforge. (stoneforge replacing outfitter).

After you get stone forge I would replace the steel shaper with Pure steel Paladin.

Once you have shaper and stoneforge I would go for singles of all the "sword of" series. (eg sword of feat and famine, war and peace, body and mind..ect ect..)

this gives you the ability to tutor up a sword that gives your creature protection at instant speed when you have paladin down.

You might want to consider a single or two of inkmoth nexus after getting these cards, or alternatively getting two mox opel would be a great idea!

One more disperse one more command and two cryptic. The helm might have to come out then though as it was often on the chimera. I'll keep testing and let you know. Feels a shame to add such an expensive card as cryptic to a semi budget deck though.... But what has to be done has to be done.

Your thinking of necrotic sliver gothy. I just got back from a weekend of trying to play my curry elk (marath) deck vs a sliver overlord edh. Even with 8 mainbard wrath spells he would always just tutor an answer.... Necrotic is a beating as it hits land aswell.

I don't understand the Hove drop. The only thing it can't add coloured mana for is coco, and you only need one green for that... Was it a cost thing?

Tanks. It went 2-2 at fnm. The chimera may have to come out though. It just dies too often.

Thank you for taking on board our suggestions. Have you managed to get this deck together to play with in real life yet? ??I hope it's as much fun as it seems!

Not really. The card quality is really high, I guess I thought that gadok making your big plays less castable and the lack of blot would hurt you more than it seems to. I admit this is a deck I've never seen in my local meta.

Sigh. Apart from fetch/expanse with retreat on the field is there anyway to instant speed rally?
