Yeah, but for some reasons people don't do that. Otherwise Northy wouldn't be such a celebrity ;)

Come on ... there must be hundreds of dragon decks here in Vault. And Thundermaw Hellkite isn't exactly a dragon with a special ability that you need to build a deck around. Heck, with his casting cost, p/t and abilities you can play him in any mid-range aggrodeck.
Why don't you build one yourself then? You are the only one that knows your cardpool.
Endless Ranks will probably not work because it (or rather this deck) is too slow: I have no cheap zombies. Grave Betrayal on the other hand is too expensive and probably "win more". Rooftop Storm, however, might be very good for this! Especially when I am able to Ritual one out in turn 4. Added 2 at the cost of one CallThx!
Brr, mill ... no thx :) This would serve no purpose whatsoever, I might as well test against a goldfish :PYou might want to contact http://www.mtgvault.com/wickeddarkman/He has done extensive research on mill decks. Tell him I sent you and he will treat you like his son :)
Yeah, but what to take out? I don't even have enough place to put those Sleeper Agents in there.
* I would run Ordeal of Thassa over Curiosity. Why? Your creatures lack trample, so Curiosity will only grant you cards (and thus make them bigger) when it's already going well. The Ordeal makes them bigger right away with a great bonus if you manage to do so 3 times.* I think you run a bit too many card drawers and too few creatures. Also, you lack a 2-drop. Suggestions:- Kami of the Crescent Moon- Looter il-Kor (awesome with Ordeal!)- Whirlpool Rider- Tameck Guildmage (for multiplayer)The first two can easily replace a card drawer, my recommodation would be to cut Scarscale Ritual* I would run Temple of Mystery over those Thornwood Falls. Still budget but considerably better.* Your deck lacks flyer. Possibilities (more for a multiplayer approach, though):- Soromaro, First to Dream- Sturmgeist* If you plan to have a sideboard, Cold-Eyed Selkie is a must (especially with those Ordeals).* You run zero removal. In a blue/green aggressive deck I usually suggest Trygon Predator. I just don't know what to cut. Probably more Scarscale Rituals.Summary:-4 Curiosity+4 Ordeal of Thassa-4 Scarscale Ritual+2 Looter il-Kor+2 Trygon Predator-4 Thornwood Falls+4 Temple of MytseryYou said in another deck that you like abstract thinking. If you want to return the favour, you might want to start with this one:http://www.mtgvault.com/puschkin/decks/pyromania/
If you like abstract thinking, I suggest checking out some of my decks, I will critique yours in return.
There wll always be cards that are good early and bad late gmae and vice versa. However, there will always be an early game but sometimes there will be no late game! The advantage from an early Sol Ring is waaay too big to ignore. And Sol Ring isn't completely useless in lategame. It's still two mana for one card. There are more than a dozen cards that will benefit from Sol Ring even in lategame because they have an X in the casting/activation cost, use mana every turn or draw additional cards. There *may* be decks that don't need a Sol Ring, however, these would be the "weenie" decks of EDH that don't want to get into the lategame in the first place. This isn't one of those.
Don't listen to him, Sol Ring is essential for any EDH deck. You run creatures like Kamahl and Hydra Broodmaster, that Sol Ring will always be useful. However, he is right about and EDH deck having to consist of exactly 100 cards (including the commander), so you need to cut a card. Also, it is custom practice here at MTGVault to place the commander in the sideboard.
Woah, Hunter of Eyeblights seems perfect for this! Have to trade for him, until then put into the sideboard (=cards I want to add).
What you actually need to do is a) focussing more on all the other fantastic decks here and/or b) make some decks yourself. I like what Northy is doing but let's face it - the attention and praise he gets has meanwhile outgrown the actual quality of content. People flock to him because it's him and that's it. Here is his formula: Take any theme (usually a tribe or game mechanic), then add cards that fit the theme and more or less follow the mana curve until the deck is almost filled up (but avoiding expensive cards), then he adds some cheap staple cards (which are usually the same). Which is fine. But he did that 1000 times by now. 1000 times! How many times does he have to demonstrate to you how the card search works and that Putrefy is a nice removal spell that doesn't cost much money? By now his followers should be able to follow this simple formula themselves. At least that's what one would think. Also, Northy is getting a bit lazy. Oftentimes his decks lack crucial elements or other things that could easily be fixed even within his budget limitations. Which, I cannot stess enough, is not to put Northy or his work down - anybody would get sloppy after churning out 1000 items of the same flavour. It still works (measured by likes, comments and front page appearances) so why should he change anything? But this is the thing, though, it's kind of a feedback loop that keeps everybody involved stagnant. What I am saying is: Thank you Northy but it is time for everyone involved to move on. Which doesn't mean stop making decks (Northy) or stop checking out his new decks (everybody else). But it would be healthy for everybody involved and the site as a whole if users would pay attention to the "new" or "unloved" section here and then or would use the deck search to check out older decks (tags help!). Instead of treating the "hot" page as the only page there is. (And the site owners would do well if they made the "new" or "unloved" list the front page for that matter). Start commenting on other decks, get some more people involved, exchange deck critiques to keep this site alive. Because, as it is, if Northy drops Magic tomorrow, most of you would run circles like a headless chicken :) I mean, he has a break from the internet now and STILL he has 2 decks and this article on the front page ... and yes, I am aware that this very post of mine helps keeping this particular article in the "hot" section, but that's not the point. I honestly don't begrudge Northy the attention he gets but pity all those deck builders out there that have created some amazing works but get buried here without notice. Most recent example for me would be Beowulf.
Even better yet, I take MUCH time to assemble my decks (that's why I need MTGVault, I mainly use to keep track of deck content, what to trade for etc.). So I actually wait until a seller has a certain more valuable card plus some chaff to fill the order up to the next postal limit. Because, if you buy entire decks, you'll end up paying higher prices (the sellers that have most cards in stock are typcially twice as expensive as private sellers). It's a science by itself :P
I'll go with Boros Charm, it's so flexible!
Yeaheeeuummmaybenot. See, I actually want them to block my creatures and to deal damaged to them so I can redirect. Iroas would be a bit counterproductive in here.
Which is a legit approach, too. Trading requires more time but it is also fun. Buying display boxes (just one per edition) also comes with the benefit that at least own every common 4x (which is already a third of all cards ever printed) and usually each uncommon at least once. Which is handy because, while you can get them for 2 cents apiece, the shipping costs would make them way too expensive.
But expensive cards are the ones that you can sell again after you used them, oftentimes with a gain. Unless we are speaking of Type II relevant stuff (here it's the opposite - I immedeatedly sell all expensive cards that I get from boosters as long as they are hot and then buy the ones I like 2-3 years later when they are cheap). I just sold my Liliana and Snapcaster Mage for a total of 141€ which allows me to buy a ton of other cards I need. I invested that money in Flagstones of Trokair, Gravecrawlers and other medium priced cards that I am sure will only raise in price. That way I build up my collection without investing much (about 80 € every 3 months for a display of the latest set). I wouldn't be able so if had proxied Liliana and Snapcaster Mage 4 years ago. And if I proxied those Flagstones and Gravecrawlers now, I wouldn't be able to sell them 4 years from now for the 10 or 20 euros the will be worth by then. And each time I make a deal, I skim the inventory of the seller for cheap rares and uncommons. You wouldn't believe what you can get for a few cents. I didn't have money to spare back when Avacyn Restored came out so I didn't boost that set, however, meanwhile I have about 2/3s of that set just by accumulating throw-ins I got when making the bigger deals.
Why? If I bring back Reassembling Skellis bac kto play, I am not casting them. Darkest Hour only works on creatures and therefore wouldn't gain more life than the Soul Net (assuming every creature will die sooner or later anyway).
Well, I am almost as much a collector as I am a player. That and I actually like to be limited in card pool (because it helps with creatitvity). Finally, printng proxies also costs money and meanwhile you can get the majority of the real cards for 10 or so cents apiece.
About the Caress: Maybe because I mostly discard myself. That I make others discard, too, is more of a byproduct. Caress, much like Megrim before that, is a bit cheesy and frowned upon in my playgroup. It is quite effective of course and a valid suggestion, however, it might make me more enemies than I can handle. And unrightful so, since I don't make opponents discard THAT much. If I drop a Caress, I basically signal "hey, you will all lose your hands soon and maybe die a horrible combo-death when I cast a Wheel of Fortune or any other draw-7-effect", so they will hit me precautionary even though I don't run these cards. Sangromancer, however, is another story and should be here, I agree. Have to trade for him, though.Stupor is a fine card but I am not interested in pure discard.Decree of Pain is on my wantlist :)I will comment on more of your decks and I never fluff, don't worry. But I will be busy the upcoming days, preparing a Magic-allnighter and my big birthday bash :) It will take some time until I can come back to your decks.
