<_< That's actually really funny =P

I'm really puzzled by the huge number of titans. I know they're good, but that puts so much mana burden into the deck... Sphere makes little sense to me as well seeing how Birds are available, and offer evasion and can block flyers too! Tree stops some of the current aggro decks, specifically RDW, which is why it was most likely a SB option. With 3 GSZ in you only need one, as only one is needed to do it's job -- Shorten the RDW's damage threshold. It's a blocker that can absorb a massive amount of damage (nothing short of a meteor =P). That, along with its life-swap ability, crushes those kinds of aggro decks.
Funny you'd say that, Arty's currently working on a Kyoki EDH...I saw him put Cloudstone Curio into it...I am not looking forward to that =[ I want to make a RB spirit tribal...but I'm not yet sure how I want to structure it.
Rally the Peasants is quickly becoming a new staple of Boros decks, and for damn good reason...It's practically custom made for the style of play you see from Boros. Glitterfang is more useful in the deck than I even thought it would be. With Balefire it becomes amazing. I played a big multiplayer game where I ended up having 3 of my 4 Balefires out, and 2 Glitterfangs...complete shenanigans =P
Maverick? Really? Hrm... Firestorm is a must. I rarely if ever see a Dredge without 4 in the SB. Also like WnB said, Winds of Change is a powerful, albeit chaotic, speed boost when needed...I'd say 3 maybe 4 of those. Nature's Claim is surprisingly effective, but I'll warn that in some match-ups, that 4 life will end up losing you the match...It's crazy, but I've seen it happen against Stoneblade, for example. I always seem to see a singleton Ichorid hanging around in most SB, I never see it used, but I know it's there =P
For some reason the price for Underground Sea is unusually high, probably some kind of glitch, etc. The correct price should be closer to about 1-2k =]
Well, I'm not an admin, I'm a moderator. Still, I'm able to look at people's comments (it's pretty easy) and I looked back at both yours and Ethan's, and it really seems to be a bad mix-up. On your deck, Ethan said, in so many words, that your deck was decent, but not as good as it could be, and certainly not yet good enough (in his opinion) to receive the praise it was getting. That's a fair argument really...and in the end I saw you took some of his advice and your deck is much better as a result. On this deck, he simply stated this was not a Toolbox deck. I can attest that it's a little annoying when a deck is called one thing, but in reality isn't...I don't know why, but it is. Technically speaking this is not a Toolbox, so he let kamikazi know. Kami responded saying he had no idea of the deck type of "Toolbox", and that he just liked that his deck felt like a 'toolbox' to him. Ethan then basically said no biggie, but aside from the toolbox thing, here's some suggestions for the deck. I also looked at your recent comments, and by and large, you do provide helpful comments. That's one of the reasons it was strange to see such a change in your norm towards Ethan. He did come off a little strong, it's true, but on the other hand, you were a bit too defensive. In any case, this whole thing is (hopefully) over with, so let's move on =] On a side note, I also dislike some aspects of the comment/like system, but as it stands, it's (currently) the best working way to do it.
I suppose you're right. One of the guys in the shop, Matt, who we've mentioned before, has a "Weird" tribal...as in the creatures. It uses a number of wizards, but it uses them to make it function much better than it would otherwise, and it's a blast to play against. It's things like that were a soft ban is more than ok with me =]
Wow. I'm sorry vito, but you seem to have some damn narrow minded thinking, which is clearly driven by some grudge against Ethan. I'm going to break down all of your points, because quite frankly, they're misinformed, and as I said before, driven primarily by this asinine grudge. 1) "If you don't want 'bad' decks on the front, don't post on them." -- How do you propose then, that these inexperienced players improve over time? We comment on decks, good and bad, to offer advice where we can...Something you should try, instead of posting on decks to continue this petty bickering. 2) "Maybe you should show us up and make a REAL deck for standard mister pro" -- Ethan has made a multitude of high-quality standard decks, and a good number of those HAVE made the top decks. This is a well known fact. 3) "Just because people dont have Mox opal in their deck and Wurmcoil and SoFaF doesnt mean the deck sucks." -- Obviously, and to be honest, many of Ethan's aforementioned top decks included none of those cards you listed. A deck can be very good without 'mainstream supercards' but the fact is, due to Standard's limited pool of available choices, certain cards shine far more than others. It's fooling to not at least consider incorporating these into a deck *if it makes sense to!* 4) "and now you['re] saying going 65 is pointless... not really... " -- Yes, really. 65 is a larger number than 60. I hope you are capable of figuring that out. Obviously a 65 card deck won't fall apart on the table, and it could certainly hold its own against a 60 card deck, but mathematically, statistically, it is slower. 5) "doesnt need to worry if he is over 65..because he has 0 cmc with his probe... " -- This is completely incorrect, and on top of that, was discussed on both sides of the argument above. Seeing as you seem to have ignored that, it's again obvious that you only care to essentially yell at Ethan for, let's be honest here, being helpful. 6) "sucks he has to lose life.. but hey... i would take it if its going to be my winning card..." -- Again, this is incorrect. By adding in a card to draw a card, you actually decrease the overall chance of drawing the card you need at any given time. If you care to do the arithmetic, it's pretty simple. 7) "oh looked at your recent decks... only 1 had wurmcoil.. thought that was a bamf card.. shouldnt it be 4 of in all your decks??? cause your a pro and all..." -- Doubtful. If anything you glanced at a few. If you did look through every one, then that's pretty pathetic to know your obsession with arguing with him is that drastic. Wurmcoil is a great card, but if you had any knowledge of the mechanics of making a halfway decent deck, you would know that it is typically ill-advised to have 4 copies of a 6 mana card. You would also know that not every deck benefits from a Wurmcoil, or any card like it. To think so is foolish. Only one card could truly be argued as being so good that having 4 copies in every deck would be advised. That's the Black Lotus, and as such, it can only be included as a single copy in every deck, and only in a highly volatile eternal format. Finally, never once did Ethan say he was a pro, he simply said he has played in a number of very competitive tourneys, and has built (meticulously, much like this deck) multiple decks that have seen success. So a word of advice. Don't go after someone unless you know what the hell you're talking about. Otherwise, you look like an ass.
Hrm, yeah actually I suppose you're right, it would be one to debate for sure...It's on the edge of things (and we've considered soft bans for wizards too, since you can have REALLY powerful wizard tribes, but you can also have just 'decent' ones too) =/
Hehehe, thanks =]
<_< It never ceases to amaze me what just one simple card can do for a deck...
There are so many reasons why we banned wizards, but things like this certainly add to the bazillion others =P Also, teeeeeeechnically this wouldn't qualify anyway, since it's by and large StifleNought and not a wizard tribe...but either way, I like this =]
Yeah Arty sold one of his old Vintage decks to buy his nephew his first car...http://www.myfacewhen.com/257/ I do in fact dislike cats, dogs are just...better =P Glue vs Extraction is such a bizarrely horrible MU. When you just think about it, Extraction should, in theory, tear it apart, but it DOESN'T and it CAN'T...and that makes me sad ='{ That said, I'd probably buy you a fatpack just for having the sheer brass balls to play Glue in our shop =P
It is crazy. And actually because of this deck Elementals have been on-and-off in our Tribal stuff. Our shop owner gave it a "soft ban", which basically means if someone doesn't want to face it, I have to respect it, but otherwise I'm free to play it =]
Oh don't get me wrong, Glue drives me f**king crazy...but there's just something about Cat Stax that rubs me the wrong way... Glue is probably the main reason I don't play Vintage Extraction...If you actually think you have a chance against that MU you're just delusional...it's a nightmare =[ Of course, the other reason I don't play Vintage Extraction is I realllllly don't feel like spending $10,000+ on a single deck...
Hahaha, pretty much. Obsidian Fireheart is turning out to be a much more powerful card than I even originally thought. It's pretty mind-boggling how good its land burning ability (btw, epic reminder text "The land continues to burn") truly is...it wrecks people. I love the interaction between Soulstoker, Harbinger and Nova Chaser. Grab a Nova from your deck, chuck him at the opponent, then when he dies and Harbinger comes back in (from champion) you can find another one! The "best" card in this deck though, is probably Braid of Fire. You'd almost think it was an Elemental tribal enchantment the way it helps them.
Yeah Stax seems to murder Gush and similar decks, which is why I was wondering if it was Glue...since that is notoriously bad for Gush... Cat Stax is one of a very select group of decks that has actually made me visibly rage =/
Resurgence of STAX? In Vintage? That's interesting...Are we talking MUD, classic, or Glue?
I like the quote man =] I like that Laboratory Maniac has found a home in a place just as suitably maniacal as he is...Though I've heard of it being called "Doomsday Device" by some =/ Not much I can suggest man, only thing might be Flusterstorm in place of some of the Spell Pierces...but eh, not 100% sure on that. Wish I could add more, but it looks really good as is =P
