I'm really surprised that you don't have Primeval Titan in here. I think it would be a better addition rather than Bloodghast, even though Bloodghast is a good Landfall card. i'd also suggest getting Asuza, Lost by Seeking. I tried to create a deck based around her, Bloodghast, and Skullclamp, but figured that Skullclamp is banned in Modern. Therefore, I just say "F**K IT!" and play Fastbond. Regardless, Asuza is great if you can get many lands into your hand (Griselbrand will help). Lastly, instead of Kodama's Reach, I'd also suggest Harrow. You get two land right then, and they're untapped. I don't even know why you aren't playing Cultivate, since their ability's are the same. Otherwise, good idea. Ghostly Flicker is a great card for this kind of thing.

what DON'T I think about Griselbrand is more like it! He is the best Black general. Sure, you could use Sheoldred, Volrath, Balthor and many others, but Griselbrand is one of the few that is big, and his ability is big. I only have his oversized card, and I'm waiting for his price to plummet. It isn't going to stay at $10 forever
?! WHAT?! THAT WORKS?! That's insane! I have to try that! Mind you, I've used my Laboratory Maniac's for my Self Mill - Broken Legacy Edition! deck.
I made a deck similar to this: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=319800 It uses Shimmering Grotto instead of all of the expensive lands, as well as Deranged Assistant for mana. One thing I'd suggest is adding more self-mill in this deck. If you're going to make this deck entirely based around Flashback, you shouldn't need to worry about throwing your deck out. Cards to consider would be Increasing Confusion and Dream Twist. Also consider taking out Shattered Perception: The more expensive the Flashback cost, the more hurtful it is to your chances of success. That also goes for Forbidden Alchemy. I don't know what Fireball is doing here, so you should take it out as well. Condense all of your lands into just Blue and Red. Keep the Sulfur Falls, but besides that, the rest of the fancy lands should go. Shimmering Grotto and Altar of the Lost should deal with the mana colour problems. You don't have to take my word for it, but if you make at least a few changes to it, it may be a force to be reckoned with in no time.
I added 1x Dream Twist, 1x Increasing Vengeance, 2x Deranged Assistant, and -4x Forbidden Alchemy. I also took out 2x Increasing Ambition and Added 2x Increasing Confusion. That way, if I wanted some cards in my grave, I'd pay whatever I'd like, or if I wanted to deal quick damage, the Flashback cost is 1X
Great idea! I mean, if you took out the Imperial Seal's and the Grim Tutor's, then it'd be an affordable deck (To an extent :P) I'd suggest taking out Mystical Tutor, since it's the only Tutor in here that can't search for Battle of Wits. Besides that, great deck!
Man, this is amazing! I've never seen a deck so good in Standard! Obviously, a deck that is Standard-worthy can't be cheap, and that's my only complaint. But really, what can you do about that? You can't have a good deck without burning a hole in your pocket. This deck has an answer to everything: Turn 1 Doomed Traveler, Dismember's and Go for the Throat's, a few Oblivion Ring's... I personally would NOT want to play against this! Something I'd suggest? Really, there's only one thing: Grave Titan in your Sideboard. If this is your actual deck and you don't have any, or you don't want to take them out of a deck of yours, then don't do it for my sake. I couldn't tell you what to take out. 1 Liliana? 1 Sword of War and Peace? The Tragic Slip's? I dunno... Regardless, great deck!
Good idea. Maybe I should add a few Force of Wills while I'm at it. Without sarcasm, I'd like to keep this deck cheap. BTW, I've edited it, since staying in Modern is impossible: Taken out: 4x Reach Through Mists 4x Disrupt 4x Peek 4x Twisted Image Added: 4x Thought Scour 4x Counterspell 4x Gush 4x Spell Pierce Instead of relying on Gitaxian Probe for that turn 3 win, I can play Gush for free (essentially). Counterspell was suggested from a friend since I'm not playing any particular format, and I'm playing mono-blue. Spell Pierce was also suggested instead of Disrupt because of the more costly repercussion payment (2 instead of 1 and draw). Thought Scour was a last-minute decision, which I may change at some point.
You won me on the name XD! I love it! The land-grabbing, the Tunnel Ignus, the New Frontiers, the Collective Voyage... SHENANIGANS! I can't think of any criticism. Everything that I can think that might be a problem seems to be solved. The Landfall and Dragonmaster seemed weird to see at first, but when I saw the shenanigans unveil, it all works in this amazingly stupid way! Good job, man!
I don't understand this strategy, I'm sorry. Is this supposed to be a burn deck? if so, you might want to throw Volcanic Geyser, Starstorm and Fanning the Flames out for a few Devil's Play's or Blaze's. I'd also definitely suggest restructuring your creatures. Besides Fire Servant, Prodigal Pyromancer, and Fiery Hellhound, the others are lackluster and too costly for their effect. I also don't understand why Volcanic Strength is there as well. To better organize my suggestions, here's a list of things to take out: Creatures 4x Lightning Elemental 3x Sparkmage Apprentice 4x Goblin Tunneler Enchantments 2x Volcanic Strength Spells 1x Volcanic Geyser 1x Starstorm 1x Fanning the Flames Here's what you should consider replacing them with: Creatures 4x Furnace Scamp Spells 4x Shock 3x Devil's Play 4x Reverberate None of the suggested cards are too expensive, and it will turn your deck from mediocre to a huge threat! 1x (1 more) Fireball
I don't know what to tell you. I personally don't like the deck too much, but it's for fun: My opinion shouldn't matter. I may suggest taking out the Tooth of Chiss-Goria's and Phyrexian Walker's, but the point is to have Affinity. Every time I consider a suggestion, I just think, "Well... whatever, it's what he's going for." The only thing that I'd suggest, as obvious as it may be, are the rest of the Mirrodin Artifact lands. I know you don't want anymore mana... but... it's a land... shenanigans can occur...
I've always wondered how one can win with Near-Death Experience. This is certainly an interesting way. The way the life is paid is a good way to get to 1 at the end of your last opponents turn. The only thing that you're missing is something to defend Near Death Experience. I can't think of anything except Privileged Position (which is around $10/copy) right now, so that's my only suggestion. In short, if you can find a way to protect Near-Death Experience, please add it.
I was suspicious of that, but Hungrymaster is right: it is an activated ability. It is also why Shuko doesn't combo with Livewire Lash: it only works if it was the target of a spell. Cephalid Illusionist is altered by both spells and abilties. I also can say that Lightning Greaves could work as well. It also costs 0 to equip (it just doesn't fit the 3-turn win condition).
I read your comment, and, to start, appreciate your suggestion! I like your deck idea, but I'd suggest taking out some allies and replacing them with more spells. At least get 2-4 Genesis Wave's, and take out the Oran-Rief Survivalist's. Out of all of the allies, they are the least necessary. Regardless, I like this idea. It's versatile, and it can counter mill-decks. Personally, if you want to mill yourself, you might want a few more than 1 Laboratory Maniac.
Huh... that's an interesting way to go through that strategy. I might consider Genesis Wave. I never thought that might be a great way to stuff all those Allies on the field. I'll also add Harabax Druid. I, again, did see her. Thanks for the suggestion!
I also took out Rooftop Storm and replaced it with Forbidden Alchemy, now that I can slightly splash.
Oooh! Good idea, just in case I throw an Alchemist out to the grave! Shimming Grotto has been added for Splash, and so has Unburial Rites.
I am very curious about this deck. Why is this 3 colours? Why do you need blue in a land destruction deck? I don't see nor know any Blue cards that destroy lands. In fact, I'd just cut this deck down to just red. All of your necessary land destruction is Red, and nearly all good land destruction in MTG is Red (not including Sinkhole for obvious reasons). Sure, you'd lose Wrecking Ball and Rain of Tears, but then you could add more Stone Rain's (which is already better than Rain of Tears, considering Mana occurance) and/or Roiling Terrain's. In fact, I'd highly suggest getting a playset of Roiling Terrain. Some other cards I'd suggest would be Dingus Egg, Orcish Settlers, Decree of Annihilation, Wildfire, and/or Destructive Force, to deal with Creatures. I'd take out all Blue and Black cards, replace all lands with just Mountains, and take out Goblin Ruinblaster. You already have 4 Molten Rain's, why overkill the Non-basic Lands? If you really wanted to do that, use Detritevore.
Oh dear god... the Blackness of this deck is too much... I'd never want to touch this... monstrosity! Man, Shimian Specter? Oh dear, god help us! I must now find a playset of'em! I like this. It is awfully expensive, but since you're not playing standard, who should care? I might want to suggest Cranial Extraction, since you have Surgical Extraction as well. I am assuming you know what it does, and I am also assuming that if you wanted that effect, then you would double up a Surgical Extraction or something else, considering the amount of discard. Well done, though!
Well, there goes my Modern Career! Ugh... Should've read the list...
