I'm collecting oldschool players...http://www.mtgvault.com/wickeddarkman/decks/9394-format-forum/
So far, we've been 5 posters but only 4 likers! who's the missing link?If it's you PUSCHKIN, you will now be informed that you CAN upvote your own posts ;D
The benefit is a smaller chunk of data and less scrollingtime for those with older computers :D
How about restarting it from scratch ?It might be better to involve new recruits than trying to get the lost oldboys back in the fold :DPost it as "deckhelp alliance 2" and see WHO turns up...
I'm running a project where evolution builds oldschool decks for me.You might be interrested in following it once it really starts up.http://www.mtgvault.com/wickeddarkman/decks/9394-format-evolution/
How devoted are you to the format ???http://www.mtgvault.com/wickeddarkman/decks/9394-format-forum/
He does state that it's for beginners :D
At a time I did some heavy testing with chronic flooding, and it was simply to easy to play around.
I don't know a thing about standard, but I know this. You need to test against the fastest and most aggressive builds in the format.Proxy one of each type, aggro, combo, control, then play a lot of games. If you can include white:http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=426912
Never saw it, but now I have :DA bit late on the replies, aren't we.tardy tardy
Just dropping by to tell you that because of the increased interrest in the 93/94 oldschool format, I am reviving my oldest evolution project but will be using all the updated Technologies I have collected over the years.Originally I never even managed to play that format with stuf like mutation rates and frequencies, and now I can add modern concepts like only mutating offspring after a selected number of children born (which Means that most versions of a deck will be direct clones of the original) Stuff like recessive and dominant genes and much much more.I'll run the project with 4 of each allowed of ANYTHING, even moxen.I expect to see lots of weird decks, and hopefully something legal will evolve for me to wreck the 93/94 metagame :Dhttp://www.mtgvault.com/wickeddarkman/decks/9394-format-evolution/
Ahem! Reread what dedwards wrote, kazzonq. He has commented on both :DSleep is a necessity :P
Most UB with focus on manic scribe tends to look like that.(Sometimes they really want to activate the scribe, and by playing more different types this improves the scribe) I think manic scribe is overrated, but it is one of the best answers to leyline of sanctity. My own overall strategy is to not meet someone playing it, and if they do, I revive chancellor of the spires with breaking//entering or simply fold. Most of the time I can surgically extract the threats to the chancellor away and then simply walk over. (surgical is unaffected by leyline).
547 players in roanoke:1st place ponza.http://tcdecks.net/deck.php?id=23902&iddeck=186786
Here's a milldeck that currently won. Number of players unknown (minimum 10) 3rd place.http://tcdecks.net/deck.php?id=23884&iddeck=186552
I've believed mill has been competitive enough to win for years, but those winning top Places never seem to deviate from the "classical" way of doing it.First off all, emrakul is gone.Several decks almost automatically fold to mesmeric orb (those that tap and untap lot's of times),a couple of shadowdesigns mill themselves a bit with flayer.Fraying sanity will activate a lot when facing death's shadow (mishra's bauble, street wraith, traverse the ulvenwald, grim flayer), it will devastate dredge, have every burnspell mill a Card (and burn plays soo many fetches) It makes mill very competitive.I suspect that "hour of devastation" was build with the added concept of turning modern upside Down once more, since a lot of Cards seem to devastate very specific decks, and most of these Cards have a wide array of decks they annoy. I'm afraid wotc finally got the resourcess to make new editions into buying freenzies to win the weaponrun...
I've cut dream twist in my own version because ghoulcaller's bell proved to be too inefficient. Before that I cut them Down to having 2 in the deck. These milled an average of 5 Cards when the bells were given priority one in my castingorder. Since you play mesmeric orb you will still be able to get that average if you have mana left.try cutting a single dreamtwist and add a single land. That would have you at 21 lands, a number I've been playing with in lots of milldesigns. The major question is if 21 lands can support all fraying and mind funerals. (I'm working on that myself)
