I never ventured into EDH, but frank karsten is one who did, and I was in contact with him for a brief amount of time, so I trust his work (it matched my own at the time)The one thing I've learned is that some decks can rely on few lands if they start out very disruptive. And decks that are hard to disrupt somehow end up with a high number of lands. In the past I would have built the deck based on a pre selected mana base. These days I sort of let it coevolve. The early mana is a springboard to do stuff that keeps the deck alive, so my new rule of thumb is that you want enough mana to always be able to play the cheapest cards, and those cards must be able to hold the fort until you reach the next stage of mana. This view raises an absurd amount of questions, and I can't answer those. It's awfully complex and I'm afraid that I've underestimated evolution again. All manabases rely on the decks they are in as well as the meta they are in and EDH is so out of my territory

A rare sight :)
How about you necrumsicle ?Wanna join the list ?https://www.mtgvault.com/wickeddarkman/decks/contact-list/You may have a small problem with spelling, but you have had many interesting decks. No strings attached except maybe a little more descriptions :)
The "list" is reserved for an exceptional elite.I personally have no skills in EDH, so I won't be the one to evaluate you, but I can say that you should wait till you have 20+ decks. (I personally use more than 40 decks to evaluate the work of someone on the list)You might want to go through the EDH work of the people on the list as I will have a few of them evaluating you.I take it as a good sign that you reach out to others by commenting on their decks, that is one of the traits I look for when choosing someone. You might want to take a real close look at karasbeta's work as something there made me want to recruit her/him.Keep at it, and don't forget that in these years there are really far between the likes even among the very best. And thanx for the heads up :)
If I've suggested a mill card in a non-mill deck then it's probably 4 copies of stream of thought...And I'll suggest exactly that card for your groupplay mill deck.A long time ago I wrote quite the manual on that card.Search for a deckname but write the cardname into the search to get the entire manual.During 2021 I've been exceptionally busy like "everyone else" so I might not have seen it.I was probably involved in my rw prison project, decktag: wdm prison or some odd eldrazi ramp decks. Most of all I've been busy figuring out how to tie the community together wether or not any trolls exist.
No hidden meanings. It was a comment and an upvote at a time I used decksearch to find some reap lace designs.I do that when I randomly stumble on the work of people I know.Nothing more than that.
Also makes sense, sometimes things seem logical, but you miss the clarity of playtests :)
Reap lace the deck type :)Seems my phone "corrected" the word back then.
When you do, pay attention to details. There are lots of hidden details and lore.
Thanx :)You might notice that some of the oldies are on the list. They've all said yes in person which means they are currently active.Theswarmer mentioned he was leaving though, but we can hope he'll be back.I'm also watching cgb a lot on arena. He's not so much in historic, but he has inspired me to do some arena stuff. Search for the decktag: wdm arena
I was just asking stickngojuggalo if he'd seen the 2020 series lovecraft county, which I can recommend. He's just upvoted one of my merfolk decks, and I'm here to tell that I have an older version of ithttps://www.mtgvault.com/wickeddarkman/decks/modern-drexiya-merfolk/The "how to play" section of that holds some clues to a growing modern myth about "drexiya".A musical band has long been hinting at some mythology based on two different myths about a black atlantis. With the interest in lovecraft it is one of the most interesting modern myths I've seen in a long time.
Great to see you are still around :)Can I add you to the list of good people ?(Take a look at the link) No strings attached :)And go ahead with the decks :)
Lantern is very much about planning ahead, being able to fetch exactly the right lock against some decks on turn 3 can be very usefull in a few games. At other times it will be best to hold it back for a while going for a block.
In any case people can be inspired by some of your older stuff :)
Yo, tylo, notify me when you get back in here.I'm running a new anti troll measure that seems to be better than usually.I put the following text at the top of all my decks...A FEW LINKS BEFORE THIS POST STARTS...GOOD DECK BUILDERS: (These people will inspire you)https://www.mtgvault.com/wickeddarkman/decks/contact-list/MTGVAULT TIPS & TRICKS: (visit to learn about mtgvault)https://www.mtgvault.com/wickeddarkman/decks/mtgvault-tips-tricks/MY FRONTPAGE: (links to all my many projects)https://www.mtgvault.com/wickeddarkman/decks/frontpage/MY LATEST POSTS: (visit it to see my most recent work)https://www.mtgvault.com/wickeddarkman/decks/my-latest-posts/MAIN ARTICLE:blah blah, blah de blah, ha ha. Blah blah blah...————————What you are looking at is a "template"It's a term for a piece of text in wikipedias that can be copypasted by anyone to perform a function on any page. The 4 link template is my first version of an mtgvault template. The purpose is to copy it and put it at the front or bottom of all your decks.By setting up the 4 links to connect to specific decks you can sort of connect all your past posts to those deckpages. The first link leads to a page containing a list of users I support. If you like that list you can just leave my link in that place. The second link leads to a page containing links to manuals on how to use mtgvaultYou can create your own stuff or just link to my page which will cover it all eventually. The third link leads to my front page where I can both reveal my hidden talents and link to basically all of my decks I've ever made. You might want to create your own frontpage directing people to your best decks and articles. The 4th link leads to my update page, where I can put up links to my most recent creations. This template system can be designed in many ways and I'll slowly work on it to improve it.
Hey there dknight27, would you like to be on the list ?https://www.mtgvault.com/wickeddarkman/decks/contact-list/It's generally a list of people who use tags, descriptions or support the community or other cool stuff. You do have some lose ends but considering how many decks you have, I shouldn't be to picky. Each time I post a deck, there is a link to the list at the top of my deck, so you will sort of be promoted each time.No strings attached, just say yes and continue your good work.
[[Misthollow griffin]] might fit into the deck if you or the opponent have ways of exiling it.I believe it might be a nice move against tasha's hideous laughter. Triggers the owl from exile.
Your work is above average in here by having tags, a description and decent deckbuilding.Would you like to be on "the list" ?https://www.mtgvault.com/wickeddarkman/decks/contact-list/The list will be referred to every time I make a new deck, so your work is credited everytime that happens.
Excellent work.I'm amazed that pauper storm is still using geothermal crevice. You mention someone named T, in some of the other posts. Is he a youtuber or a friend ?Also, adding descriptions would increase the quality of your posts.
When a combo deck becomes successfull it's usually because the combo is put in a deck shell that supports the combo in a number of ways or can abuse half of the combo to do other stuff. The most successfull combo decks also have a backup plan to fall back on if the combo somehow can't be used. So, in this case you need to find cards that support midnight guard as well as presence of gond.Ideas:Midnight guard could be exploited a lot more if you put in s few spells and creatures with convoke as you can then use the guard as a tempo engine. Adding cards like [[memnite]] and [goblin bushwhacker]] could add to the convoke theme and would also be able to abuse impact tremors. I can also see [[flamewhip]] on midnight guard with memnites as being another way of cleaning out the opponents side of the board while gaining a fast attack.[[Sprout swarm]] with several midnight guard in play is pretty close to having presence of gond and goes well with the overall theme.[[Conclave phalanx]] will be able to gain you life enough to get the combo fully assembled.Presence of gond needs to be put on something if midnight guard isn't available and you have at least two presence in hand. It needs to be something that forewards your gameplan and is big enough to survive bolts. Perhaps something like [[crashing drawbridge]]Another possible card is [[paradise mantle]] which would be neat on midnight guard if it isn't outside budget. So far I've kept myself to commoncards.Hope this helps.
