contaminated ground and dying wish are definitely not good enough for standard constructed, and i would be surprised if viper's kiss, festering newt, and drainpipe vermin are. Even though those are black permanents and instants and sorceries aren't, i would put more spot removal in. Otherwise you'll probably get run over long before you get to the black devotion goodies

this deck is really really cool, congratulations. lotleth troll + ordeal is like really beautiful to me.

Not sure if you want to make it competitive in standard, the following suggestions are for that:

I think this deck could be fleshed out a bit. Some of these cards are just not fast or impactful enough in standard to be worth it. For example, obviously jarad's orders can set up nutty situations in this kind of a deck, but it's just like a missed turn of pressure for your opponent. I would take those out and add in the full complement of demons and whips. The reason i'm pushing the whip is that i'd like to take out two of the rescue from the underworlds. I don't feel that they would be used to their full extent in a deck that has so many +1/+1 counters. Instead you're just going to wind up saccing something you've invested counters onto. I don't think i like erebos's emissary at all, even though you have some stuff to discard i feel like that card is just way too slow. Even though i love that you're actually using ordeal, i'd like to decrease the number to three or more likely two for some grisly salvages to increase consistency

i dunno. Just like people do it so often, it feels like piggybacking on other people's success

I like the deck, it seems really solid.

Could you take a look at this deck? I realize I'm asking for attention on someone else's deck, which is annoying, but it's kind of a similar deck and you seem to have a very solid grasp on this.

im now thinking about maybe adding collective blessing to it because of this deck.

well i mean these cards are pretty expensive and very good. if you have these you should try and build a standard deck

gotta have a discard outlet if you don't want some of these cards to sit in your hand; i would recommend lotleth troll.

chrono is right. my suggestion is to take out thassa and ral for steam augury. It seems like you will need to select your draws for specific answers but instead of thassa, i don't think will ever get to be a creature, i think steam augury fits better. Pumps your chimera and gets you an elemental token too, at instant speed. I don't know about ral, i feel like with the amount of burn you have you don't need him. Also i feel like you could benefit from more draw, but with the lack of instant draw in standard it would be hard to say what (besides steam augury). Maybe more bidents or something?

x4 IZZET CHARM

also i suspect anger of the gods will hit you more than your opponent.

really cool deck dude

actually i think that ashiok works. Obviously none of his individual qualities are great, but against control he can provide a serious threat and against aggro he provides a fog/free blockers. He's best against control, and even better against control that isn't running black, but still okay against everything, especially if you're clutching a supreme verdict

sucks that you have to run guildgates, but i don't know anything else you can do

i would try and make room for at least one swan song. In play test it has surprised me with how good it is... one of the best things about it is that your opponent will never feel safe when you have at least one blue mana open again.

i like the idea of the deck. However, i don't know that dying wish will pull it's weight when you're actively trying to keep your power low so you can fully use driver of the dead. I also have my deeply ingrained suspicions about sylvok lifestaff... it may gain you a lot of life but suspect you could be doing better things with your mana. I don't know why black cat is in the sideboard, i would greatly encourage you to take out 4x dying wish for 4x black cat. i thought about blood artist; he's a good fit but copying his ability is totally not worth it. then i thought about the new card in theros. Reaper of the wild will be an excellent fit, although probably not as budget as the rest of the deck. solemn simulacron and golgari thug might also be good fits.

Hey cool budget deck though! like the way it plays.

that's all you need bro. i can put 2 more of her in the side, but just in case i can force them to discard things and then surgically extract a couple pieces. maybe i'll work on that though.

might be fun to include two vengeful firebrands, scorchwalkers, or nova chasers for the top of the curve. they would also work well with incandescent soulstoke. Personally, i would go for nova chaser. Then you can also champion a heartlash cinder and when the nova chaser dies it triggers the chroma boost again

im also surprised at flamekin harbinger, i would replace it with sunflare shaman or better yet hellspark elemental

why war's toll? Also it would be fairly easy to make this into a standard deck, might be worth doing. probably needs more cantrips.

i like into the wilds, and i like that people really try to make this deck work. I would go for 4 copies of gatecreeper vine and urban evolution. urban evolution is really powerful in this deck since it brings you a whole turn closer to winning. you know if you liked the ratchet bombs enough you could throw in a bunch of rapid hybridizations

discard to the troll for one counter, scavenge for one. when i play grisly salvage or mulch i like slitherheads because they just end up being free value. i didn't say replace gravecrawler, obviously it's better. i understand if you don't want to put it in, i just was pointing the card out. if you don't like it, don't put it in.

also, if you're trying to use these with varolz, don't you want 4 copies of him?
