The original art for Nightmare and Shivan Dragon, Melissa Benson was the best back then. Not to mention the vibrant colors she used for the original Lord of Atlantis...

...really? ...really?! ...because Abyssal Persecutor and Nighthawk aren't lords... is this a trick question?

Hell yeah, i would never not use Hymn to Tourach. It's my favorite discard card in magic besides Mind Twist and Funeral Charm

Very true, but I did leave it in the sideboard... against a slower deck i'd definitely run that over Thoughtseize.

Yeah, but first turn thoughtseize and surgical extraction is amazing...

I couldn't have worded that better myself. This poor guy posted this deck for suggestions and is getting ripped apart by ignorant people.
I've been playing Magic since just before Fallen Empire's and I know how to build a decent deck and sometimes even great decks that are innovative, but ever since I found this sight my deck building skills have improved a bit, with the combined knowledge of everyone on this sight it makes it eaiser to get suggestions of cards you may not have thought of.
Granted, there have been times where I may have jumped the gun and torn a deck down, but I always tried to make suggestions to improve it rather than just say it's bad. That helps no one. Plus, others on this sight, including myself sometimes, need to remember that not everyone may not be a veteren to magic and this could be a HUGE new thing to them. We've all been, Timmy, Johnny, and the like at some point...

Well a lot of people liked the original deck, but i have updated it with newer cards and better mana ramp. This thing works so well now it's ridiculous...

Hmmm, I'm still not sold on the deck, I see White Weenie, Elves, and Affinity to be a problem if built correctly, but none-the-less it's still a good deck

I'm in no way saying this is a horrible deck, but besides Creeping Tar Pit to block with and Smokestack to for removal, how can you defeat someone if they play at least two creatures before you get Smokestack really established?
Sorry, I've been playing a long time and maybe i'm just missing a huge piece of the puzzle...

The Abyss would kill his opponents creatures for him. The lodestone golem would add to the casting costs of his opponents spells, Hymn to Yourach ad Mind Twist would dwindle his opponents hands and extirpate would help thin out his opponents deck thanks to the assistance of The Abyss, Hymn to Tourach, and ind Twist for filling up the graveyard.
Not to mention with The Abyss swallowing his opponents creatures and not his, he can safely beat their face in, and with twelve 0 cost creatures he could drop a bunch of them and beef the glaze fiend up pretty good to punch his opponent for quite a bit of damage; and if they have no protection from flying to begin with, it won't even matter if The Abyss is eating the creatures.
Granted this isn't a counter, high removal deck, but i definitely see the control aspect of it. It's not heavy control, but it's definitely control based. Not bad That1Guy, not bad at all...
Granted it is

It only cost me a few bucks back when i opened the packs.
Granted, 2 of them i purchased at $60 before they sky rocketed to $200+

BTW, check out my W/R control deck... it's a total douche to play against. Lots of removal and creatures can't attack you, you just wait and burn them to death.

Well hyrexian Obliterator is a must for replacing Juzam when it is printed, he just adds so much extra control to the deck.
I like surgical Extraction, but in Vintage and Legacy, Split Second is a must versus blue, force of will is too much of a pain in the ass and it's nice to have uncounterable spells, hence the reason there are four Sudden Death's in my sideboard.

I'm surprised you're not running four scour as it is the main face smasher of the deck...
Also, I recommend running Vesuvan Doppelganger instead of clone, I've found that her being able to change into Iona herself and killing her can be great against other control decks. Sideboard option at least...
Ever thought of Greater Auramancy for added annoyence for your opponent?
Last piece of advice would be to drop the Seachrome Coast for Tundra, or any other land that wouldn't chance entering tapped.

It has play tested quite well, although one game i ran out of steam and never drew him and that mad me sad...
I used 4 proxy versions of the New Phyrexia card; Phyrexian Obliterator, and swapped out the maze of ith's. It's much more aggressive and added more creatures to gain the early upper hand. I can't wait to get me a playset of that card.

I actually considered droppping chrome mox and a mox diamond for whatever card drawing machine people came up with.
Bob sounds like a good way to go, plus he can also be fodder for removal, counterspells, and a blocker. And the highest casting cost i have is 4... not too painful.
