Since you love discard...and the idea of chain lightning being passed back and forth...what are your thoughts of Blackmail?

That friend of mine, mentioned above, he casts blackmail on me I NEVER send it back to him. lol. I am not that dumb!

"By the way, if you don't mind me asking, how did Northern advertise?"

It isn't recommended all the time
BUT
simply post your link (or the link of any deck) to another person's deck.

Example. Northy came to me, on one of my decks.
He said, basically, "Hey, this guy built a really decent deck that I like, do you mind going over and taking a look?"
Then he posted the link to your deck:

http://www.mtgvault.com/legendaryhero7/decks/starter-nayas-monsters/

I copied the deck link and it sent me here.

*******************************************************************************************************

Note: Why i said it isn't recommended all the time.
Everyone wants comments/likes/suggestions on here.
Sorta "i pat your back if you will pat my back" is what I have seen work.
You can post a thousand people links to your decks...but if you don't first help them out...build up comments/reputation...they won't look at your decks.

Further more...if you going around posting your deck links to everyone...without helping them...you might even get downvoted.

*******************************************************************************************************

What I have found that works
1) Go find a deck that you like or thinks needs a lot of work
2) Suggest cards to the person that will make his deck better
3) In return, if he thanks you for helping his deck out...ask if he can return the favor
4) Post your deck link to his deck

I have old beta Chain Lightning. 4 of them...but alas, no Lightning Bolts that old. Ouch, they are 45 dollars a piece! Yep, there is 180 dollars of the deck's total worth :)

No wait...the Chain Lightning...they are black bordered...but they are Legends, not Beta.
My bad :(

Your reasoning makes sense.
I play casual...so never played tourneys or an affinity deck.

Was just stating that the deck I sent you...that is the only guy I play Magic against. And his discard deck is brutal. lol. I hate when he brings it out to play.

I appreciate your well thought out response. I love, it is awesome, when I disagree with a certain deck...and the person explains why the deck is as it is. All of your reasoning was very logic. Thanks :)

Not sure how it has done it. But I built a 15 dollar deck. It wasn't meant to try and beat his discard deck...but somehow it ended up being undefeated against it. In other words, the 15 dollar deck is 4-0 against his discard deck.

Deck in question:

http://www.mtgvault.com/jessie/decks/best-15-deck-on-the-vault/

As you pride yourself on discard (rightly so, looking at how solid your discard decks are) I pride myself in bounce. The above deck link, I hope, shows that.

Here is to hoping you get more views/comments/likes/suggestions on your deck(s)!

And I love Bounce. Not sure if it qualifies but I would like to see Temporal Spring come back.
Currently trying to build a deck around it and I noticed it hasn't been reprinted.

Okay. Seen you bragging (sorta) about you discard deck skills.
Umm...why are you running Ensnaring Bridge but have no self discard cards?

And Nihil Stone...you seem to like the Rack over Nihil Stone.
Is it because you play Modern?

It is not a fair match...because the deck I suggest isn't Modern...but test this deck out against one of your discard decks.
It is my friend's discard deck.
He has beaten me over 20 times with it.

Proxy it against one of yours. You will see why I ask why you have no self discard cards and why you prefer the Rack over Nihil Stone:

http://www.mtgvault.com/magiccontroller/decks/meanest-multi-discard/

True...that is a Vintage/Legacy deck and your deck is Modern.
However, his deck is under 140 bucks.
Your deck is almost 900 bucks.

So...i think it is a fair match.
Here is a challenge, I rarely brag on decks. But i am bragging on his deck, because it has utterly destroyed me (sometimes 3 or more games in a row). And notice how his Guiltfeeder gets past your (and his) Ensnaring Bridge. And how he has self mill cards like Delirium Skeins.

I do not get the name of this deck.
I read "Izzet Four or Greater? Nope"

So...i am assuming when I look at the deck, I will not see any cards that cost more than 3 mana.
But you have cards that cost 4 mana and more.
So...really confused.

If "Four or Greater" isn't returning to the cost of the mana in your cards...I am missing something.

Northy sent me :)

When looking for good Starter decks you want:
1) Easy to understand deck (you do not want to overwhelm a new player)
2) Well rounded deck (just because it is easy to understand doesn't meant it can't be well rounded)
3) Cheap costing deck (start out showing them it can be a cheap game, if they want to spend more money later, they can).

This deck meets those requirements :)

1) Easy to understand deck: Simple. Big Creatures. Get them out with mana ramp. Can't get much more beginner, basic, easy to understand than that. Introduces new players to idea of importance of mana, creatures, life/damage/points.
2) Well rounded deck: It has a defined Win Condition. It has decent lands. It has decent mana curve/occurrence. It has mana ramp. Draw power. Both direct damage and combat damage. Has spells that pump up your creatures.
3) Cheap costing deck: Under 20 bucks. That says it all. If the deck is fun and hooks them into playing Magic, then they can go and spend more money (if they want) on expensive cards. But you started them out with Mtg knowing that you don't have to spend an arm and a leg to have fun at Magic.

Now, that I patted your back and complimented your deck, as well as liked it...let me complain, a little:

Your Starter deck contains:
Monstrosity, Vigilance, haste, creatures that tap to produce mana, creatures that draws you cards on certain conditions, hexproof, indestructible, trample, creatures with protection from enchantments, creatures that destroy enchantments based on certain conditions, cards that tap creatures, cards that search your library, cards that search your graveyard, and convoke.

All of those different cards and abilities could be overwhelming to a new player.
I mean, something like Meglonoth or Naya's Charm, to a beginner...could be very difficult to understand.

Besides that...I like it.
Maybe Sideboard Naturalize, to teach a new player that green is amazing with artifact/enchantment removal.

He does not intend for Doom Engine to stay out.
He wants it to die.

When Doom Engine dies he does 6 damage to your opponent. So, he uses Shrapnel Blast to nuke his Doom Engine. Shrapnel Blast does 5 damage and Doom Engine does 6 damage to his opponent. So your opponent takes 11 damage! It combos well.

Or EVEN BETTER. Attack with Doom Engine, then as an Instant, cast Shrapnel Blast on your Doom Engine (after he was unblocked by your opponent) to do 17 damage to your opponent.

Using Life's Legacy on Doom Engine you do 6 damage to your opponent and draw 6 cards. Not too shabby.
Same deal with Shandalar and Life's Legacy. Draw cards and have option to exile Shandalar for more damage.

And of course, smartly, he is mana ramping into Doom Engines and Shandalars.
Also, running Life's Legacy with 12 mana ramping cards ensures him he will keep his hand full even though he will constantly be playing cards.

Again, will look at them when I get a chance.
Currently going back to college...tired of factory work.
Graduated 2 year degree 8 years ago...never found a job...so had to end up breaking my back doing factory work for the last 7 years.
Was killing myself. So, going back to (online) college.
Between that and raising several kids...it doesn't leave me much time for anything else.

I was trying to Blink/Flicker in Thousand Winds...and turning him face up.
I did not know that when you Blink him in it isn't considering turning him face up.
