I have been thinking about making a sliver/aether vial deck too. Looks like a nice build and Vail is great for getting around color problems.

If I get around to building one myself and I think of any cool tricks ill come back and let you know.

Good luck with the deck.

Sorry but eido1on is right you can not discard Elvish Spirit Guide or Simian Spirit Guide to put a counter on caverns AND get the mana for discarding your guide. Guides can only exile themselves for mana, they can not be exiled for mana by using any other card. If that was the case you could trigger multiple cards that let you sacrifice, by sacrificing a single creature. However you can not and must sac a different creature for each card you are trying to trigger.

Either way it still is an easy turn 0 or 1 deck since you only need 5 cards. 4 combo cards and 1 extra card to discard for Caverns.

This broken flash deck has been around for a long time. If you haven't already built it I don't suggest it. It is probably the least fun deck in magic and will be a huge waste of money because no one will play against it. It is boring as hell to play with and against because you really don't play the game at all, just sit down and say I win.

Also if you want to put useful cards in this deck that aren't from unglued then put in Woodfall Primus and a few Gitaxian Probe. The only card I know of that is actually capable of shutting this deck down it Leyline of the Void so if that come out at the beginning of the game, just flash for a Woodfall instead and then hope you can get you hulk combo off or win with Woodfall.

Nice build! I really like the use of Ruin Ghost and many people over look Oboro.

I personally have always enjoyed eradicate over memoricide just for its ability to removed a threat that has hit the table but the double black casting cost can be a little frustrating in a 3 color deck. I understand why you picked Deprive but I worry a bit that the double blue casting cost and the number of lands that come into play tapped may hurt you in a lot of situations. Maybe replace it with something like Mana leak or Path to exile.

Good luck with the deck.

Hi there. I am a big fan of mill decks, however its very hard to put together a fast and competitive mill deck. Having said that I quite like this deck its and its a nice build. I do have a few suggestions that you can consider that may make it faster.

1st you need to get this to 60 I know it can be hard to cut and that you will be drawing a lot of cards but your deck will be better if you keep it to 60.
I would cut Traumatize. It is one of those cards that can be powerful but it is inconsistent. It by itself can not win you the game, it has a high casting cost and it becomes weaker the longer the game continues and the more times you cast it.
Brainstorm is a better option than Psychic Drain. It goes well with Jace's erasure and it can be imprinted onto Isochron Scepter.
Szadek is too slow IMO. Maybe something like Jace's Archivist would be a better choice. It can be devastating with Erasures and Howling Mine in play.
When I think of milling fast I always liked Hedron Crab. Throw in a few Polluted Delta to help your mana base and you can trigger 6 mill in one turn without casting a spell. You will likely be drawing enough lands to play one most turns and keep the mill going.
The last thing you may want to consider is that Isochron counts as casting so it doesn't get around the 1 spell limit of Arcane Laboratory. That isn't that big of a deal if if you have cards that you can trigger mill without casting like a Archivist and Hedron Crab.

Either way nice deck, good luck with it

Oh yeah, you are porbally already aware of this but Elvish Vanguard has had an eratta and is now also a Warrior so its works well with Bramblewood Paragon too. If you take out anything for Tezzerets gambit it should probably be Simic Guildmage.

Looks like a fun deck to play. I have a few suggestions for you to consider. Look into the land Oran-Rief, the Vastwood it can be really good for this type of deck. To a lesser degree Llanowar Reborn also works. Lastly I think that you may find room for maybe 2 Tezzeret's Gambit to give you card draw and proliferate.

Good luck with the deck!

Oh yeah I forgot about Nocturnus. Ego Erasure makes more sense now that I understand how you are using it.

Either way I still worry that this deck will take too long to get set up.

You may actually consider dropping black completely and put in some more mana efficient creatures to keep you going the first few turns. Soon I am going to play around with this deck ideal and see what I can come up with. I will give you an update if I figure anything else out.

If you put your modern build on here let me know, I would love to see it. I have a few cards in mind but haven't really looked at it much yet.

One thing I worry about with this deck (or most combo decks) are things like surgical extraction. If they extract melira out of my deck I will have a hard time doing much. That is why I have Juniper Order Ranger and Tormod's Crypt in my SB. Juniper is the original engine for this deck before they printed Melira, so if they extract melira I can still pull off my combos with Ranger. I can get him into play with green sun zenith still or use a bird for the 1 white.
Tormod's crypt can also protect against extraction but it is also great in-case you try to mill your opponent with Altar and then they hit something like Emrakul, the Aeons Torn that shuffles their graveyard back into their deck. Or you can use its modern version Relic of Progenitus.

Thanks for the comments.

Thanks for the comment!
I tried working in Cauldron of Souls at one point but I had some confusion on if Melira was able to protect herself with persist or not. I think she can prevent herself from returning with -1/-1 counters but its still a little unclear to me. Either way I usually don't play melira until all my other pieces are in play that way if she isn't countered even if if she is destroyed instantly I can respond by doing my combo. Sometimes I actually need to protect some of my other creatures for a few turns until melira is in play and that requires a permanent like canopy cover .

However I like the idea of being able to save my creatures that don't have persist by giving them persist.
Cauldron haze is a card that I have overlooked and seems fast enough to try it out. I already have the Cauldrons so Ill grab some Hazes too and try subing them in place of Asceticism and Canopy cover as suggested!
It is hard to know which is best, Shroud like abilities have the benefit of protecting against remove from the game type abilities like path to exile. Giving all my creatures persist has the benefit of surviving damnation and similar effects. Maybe 2 canopy covers and 2 Cauldron of souls or 2 Cauldron haze and 2 Asceticism will be the perfect mix.

Thanks again!

Hi there cho_kai! Looks like this deck is evolving well. I have a similar deck that I have put a lot of effort into and am very happy with how it turned out. Check it out if you like.
http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=189723

I splashed black for a cheap sacrifice engine but blue and card draw are very fun so I like this version also. Natural Order is a really neat card that I hadn't considered before with persist. NICE!
I choice to use Worldly Tutor since I have black creatures too.
I also think you could use something to help protect Melira such as Lightning Greaves or Canopy Cover.

Either way good luck with the deck!

This is a neat concept and seems like a really fun deck to play. My main concern is that you are not focusing as much as you could and that your mana curve is kinda high. I am worried that by the time you are able to start pulling off some of these tricks that your opponent will be to far ahead. A lot of your creatures are simply too expensive and you don' have an early mana acceleration other than Dark Ritual.

I also think that Xenograft and Coat of arms are way to much effort for the pay off and are there mostly just to trigger Kinship.

Ego erasure also seems pretty weak considering you are running black.

I will think on this concept and if I come up with anything I will come back and let you know.

I have a suggestion for you to look into. This deck makes me think of a Counter Balance and Sensei's Divining Top deck. It uses Divining top to rearrange the top of your library to whatever you need it to be. This same mechanic could prove useful for this deck.

Either way good luck with the deck and I may come back with some suggestions later.

Yeah I understand completely. Its a really tough call. Do you ignore your opponent and go all or nothing with your combo pieces or do you put a additional card in that can disrupt your opponent? I know that silence is great on a scepter and will keep your opponent frustrated and unable to play anything but if you already have a scepter with silence and you draw into another I would rather imprint a Mana leak instead of a Negate.

IMO Mana Leak has a very slight edge in Modern. Its draw back is that it will be a lot better early in the game but in the late game it looses its usefulness. However it is still decent because it will make your opponent play around it and they won't be able to play as many spells as they planned.
This is a combo deck and because of that you are more concerned with getting your combo pieces than what your opponent is playing. Negate is great at keeping them from disrupting your combo and it is just as useful on turn 2 as it is later in the game.
At the very least both cards are pretty cheap and Its worth having a play set of both to test out.

Good luck with the deck and I hope this becomes one of the decks to beat in the Modern Format.

Hi there. I just saw this deck and figured I would comment on it. I put a lot of work into a deck similar to this and though I would share it with you. It runs black and green like you had originally thought of and It is very fast. It is capable of wining on turn 3 because of a very slim mana curve. It also has a lot of protection to help keep my opponent from throwing off my combo. I am using Viscera Seer and Carrion Feeder as a cheap way to sac creatures. Viscera Seer is particularly fun because I can scry as many times as I need to find what I am looking for.

Here is a deck link if you would like to check it out.

Either way this is a really nice build and I really like that you fit card draw in there without running blue.
Good luck with the deck!

This is really a great deck and is well put together. After looking it over well and trying to look more into the Modern format I don't have any big pieces of advice but a few suggestions for tweaks.

Personally I see Zoo and other creature heavy decks like boros being a big contender in the format. Because of this I think that Mana Leak will be slightly more useful in this format because it has the ability to stop creatures like Tarmogoyf.
I may even consider redoing your distribution between silence and mana leak at 3 and 3 or just 2 silence but I am less sure of that.

Also on your sideboard I personally like Echoing truth better than Boomerang particularly in a multicolor deck. It can't target land but it can cause more trouble to zoo.

Good luck with the deck!

You don't want to be picking up ninjas to play ninjas so you need a few more cards to help sneak them out. I suggest Ornithopter and Signal Pest because they are cheap and are hard to block or will go unblocked often and then you can put out a ninja and replay your Ornithopter or Signal pest again at the end of the turn and repeat it again next time.

I don't like Blinding Powder or Neko-Te and would cut them.
If you run any equipment It would be Ronin Warclub to attach to Ninjas when they come out.

good luck with the deck!

Hi there. I am not a very budget minded player but I have some suggestions for the deck either way.

I personally am not a fan of running white in Mill. The only 3 U/W mill decks i see that are successful are B/W Merfolks mill combo, B/W Ally Mill and a deck somewhat similar to yours but they rely a lot on running Archive Trap and Path to Exile combo.

The 3rd option is the easiest way for you to fix this deck. Replace Condemn with Path to exile and run 4 Archive traps. That way you can take out one of there creatures and if they aren't expecting it, if they search for a land, hit them with a free archive trap. After that even if you don't have a trap in hand if you path one of their creatures they probably wont risk searching for a land so you just removed a creature for 1 mana with no draw backs either way. Also if they run any cards that let them search, they will have to think twice before they do.

Traumatize really isn't as good as it seems and you should cut them out for the Archive traps. Traumatize becomes less useful as the game goes on and it isn't capable of winning the game for you. I would also probably take out the journey to nowhere to make room for the other 2 archive traps.
If you are going to run basically 4 walls you probably won't miss having those 2 extra removal spells in there.

Also you are missing Hedron Crab which is just too good not to include in just about any mill deck. He will be much better than Tome Scour in the long run. He mills 3 every turn or two and can mill 6 if you put in some fetch lands like Flooded Strand. If you can't afford Flooded Strand then Terramorphic Expanse is your next best option.

Celestial colonnade is also a good w/u land for defense or attack and can cause a lot of mayhem after a day of judgment.

Also personally I would rather run something like Propaganda or Ghostly Prison instead of 8 wall like creatures, just because it slows down how many creatures they can attack with each turn and it gets to stick around after a Day of Judgment.

Good luck with the deck!

I agree with most of what has been said above. However if you are keeping this deck standard some of these suggestions won't work.

Either way I think you need more creatures. knight exemplar really needs to be in here for as long as he is legal. Automation isn't a bad plan either.

Either way I would rather run Oblivion Ring instead of Arrest any day.
Also I think that Angelic Destiny is much better than Armored Ascension in most cases.

Good luck with the deck!
