Don't try to "win more" ... if you manage to produce enough tokens and then Assault/Tempest, then that should already be game. You should concenrate on getting this chain working instead of adding another chain link.

* Forget Dragonmaster Outcast. You need 6 lands on play to make him work - something you'll rarely archieve, especially when you acceleration is Seeting Song.* Voracious Dragon should be in this (as long as you keep the Goblin token generators)!* This deck should be red/green! I mean ... you'd get mana acceleration in the form of CREATUREs that can be targetted with Assault of the Dragons later.* yes, 25 damage is correct if you put 5 dragons into play. But since they also get haste, you can actually go with less.* There won't be much room for disruption, anything beyond some Lighting Bolts would dillute the deck. And even they are questionable ... Voracious Dragon and maybe Thundermaw Hellkite.
Maybe Ashcloud Phoenix or Firewing Phoenix (or a mix thereof) to enable FLamewake Phoenix? Vexing Sphinx would be a flavourful addition - its not Phoenix, however, it works wonderfully together with Flamewake Phoenix. And maybe have an eye on Spellbound Dragon. Also no phoenix but would fit well.
Well, you would need something like Shard Phoenix so you can defend yourself against weenies. However, Shard Phoenix would clip your Riddlesmith, too.Artifacts? Since all Pheonixes (including your Kuldotha one with metalcraft) need mana to come back, simply use mainly mana artefacts to get metalcraft going. But Darksteel Myr wouldn't be a bad choice either since he stays around longer and can help blocking. If you stay mono-red, you could also run Darksteel Citadel which is indesctructible as well and counts as an artifact. Other than that you can use cantrip-artifacts like Ichor Wellspring or Tsabo's Web. Or equipments that add abilities that your phoenixes don't have yet.BTW, running Great Furnace and Seat of the Synod is a risky move. And they do NOT trigger Riddlesmith since they aren't spells that are cast!
There are easier and less clunky ways to fill your graveyard, for example Hermit Druid in a deck that has only very few basic lands or Morality Shift. The latter even allows a mono-colour deck! Sure, it costs 7 mana, but if you are down to black, you can devote many of your slots to mana acceleration. In this case you could use guys like Basal Thrull, Blood Pet and Blood Vassal in addition to the usual Dark Rituals and artifact mana. And dredge decks can fill their entire graveyard in turn 2-3, so you could use a standard dredge engine. Boring? Well, combo ...
Yeahno. You don't need Prosperity and One with Nothing if you could simply Wheel of Fortune/Windfall/Dark Deal instead. And on the risk of sounding snobish, Howling Mine/Prosperity/Draw-7s/Underworld Dreams/Megrim decks have been around for an eternity and are boring and multiplayer-destroying for an equally long time. Somehow this particular deck is like a phase every teenager has to go through ... don't want to go that way. This deck is more of a fun project. The goal is have Hive Mind and Witchbane Orb in play and then watch the opponents killing themselves/each other with targetted spells that they are forced to cast but can't target ME with. I don't want to win, I just want to have some fun and mess around with my buddies. I should update the description.
That's picking easy targets - unblockables dodge creatures, so if you don't have creatures but more burn than usual, then you are in perfect shape to beat this. I could do the same to you and bust out my Blast from the Past deckhttp://www.mtgvault.com/puschkin/decks/blast-from-the-past-30/And then go on stomping your deck because it runs 16 Blasts and you'll never resolve anything important, even without the Lens in play.
Yes, but why downvoting me for that? I just noticed myself after I wrote that post and edited accordingly.
N-O-T L-E-G-A-L I-N M-O-D-E-R-N-!I know it's not in the description but he seems to be aiming for Modern.EDIT:Actuall he constantly changes the description, so ...
It would be an entirely different deck then.
Rescue from the Underworld is just one of many ways to reanimate and the deck would look a lot like ordinary reanimator decks. The only little difference is that the sacced creature returns as well, so you can abuse both come into play and leave play effects, so the creature selection would be slightly different with picks like Ashen Rider. But both reanimation and abusing CIP/leave effects bore me.EDIT:To give it a twist you could play with expensive morphers. Play them morphed for 3 colourless, sacrifice them to Rescue fom the Underworld and return them unmorphed, Akroma, Imperial Hellkite, these sort of things.
That's why they are called SUGGESTIONs, you have the options to not use them :)And if you know me, I usually don't make drastical suggestions, it's just that I don't understand why a deck like this is mono-coloured to begin with (for the reasons I stated).:)
Why? I don't do budget decks. Moreover, I don't build decks on Vault for other people or for fame, I build decks that I will use IRL - and this kind of deck wouldn't get anywhere in my group nor is it interesting enough for me to build around. The reason I comment on other decks is to help them out and to make them better withing the limitations given. And this deck could be a lot better, budget or not. My suggestions may seem drastical but you have to admit that I adressed serious flaws. Just because the deck is made by Northy doesn't mean it's perfect. In fact, I made the observation that the less criticism he gets, the more sloppy his decks become. Despite, the second and fourth point of my list can be applied without altering the deck much.
* Why mono-black? This screams for another colour, most likely blue. It would give you access to important abilities like hexproof and offer other ways to get creatures into your grave. Blue:- Mindshrieker: Excellent way to fill your grave and deal some damage at the same time. If he dies he provides flying for Soulflayer.- Tower Geist: Okay, costs 4 but he gets you two cards, one of which you draw and one that will hit the grave! He has flying himself.- Baleful Strix: Would be wonderful in this, but costs 3-4 dollars.Green:- Bassara Tower Archer: Hexproof and Reach for 2 mana- Thronweald Archer: Deathtouch and reach for 2 mana- Pheres-Band Warchief: Trample and Vigiliance (both are pretty important when you are planning on putting all your eggs into a single basket!)* Your current gameplan seems to be to actually play those creatures that provided the needed abilities and then sacrifice them. Which is a slow and arkward way to power Soulflayer. A wonderful alternative: STINKWEED IMP!* Soulflayer can amass tons of abilities but he will always stay a 4/4. So I suggest some pump but since we are running out of slots, we have to be clever - I think, for this deck, creatures with scavange would work best. It doesn't matter if you mill yourself like I suggested or sacrifice your creatures (or just let them die in combat), they can serve a second time and boost Soulflayer. But the best options for creatures with scavenge are black-green:- Varolz, the Scar-Stripped- Dreg Mangler- Sluiceway Scorpion* As the deck is you might want to sacrifice your own creatures, right? So maybe replace Geth's Verdict with Diabolic Edict. This change is probably not needed if you make some of the other changes I suggested.
Ah, didn't know manifested things get their built-in way to un-morph. This virus thing is stuporing me.
Maybe it's my brain or yours that's malfunctioning, but if you manifest Frost Walker, he will be 2/2, not 4/1. Go with the ferocious idea. Other creatures to enable ferocious that early inclzde Jötun Grunt, Veteran Brawlers, Wall of Razors, Okk and if you feel spunky Dandân, FLesh Reaver and Treacherous Pitdweller.
Spell copies created by Storm are put directly on the stack, they are NOT cast. Therefore they don't trigger Prowess. No idea about the other thingy, caught a strange cold/virus, my brain is mush.
1) Yes, but Living Death is also a Wrath of God! You have virtually no creature removal, so when you cast it the first time, it's already a gamewinner.2) There is single Iname and a single Seizan in the deck. You'll pull this off once in lifetime. It's not worth adding Iname if you have a single target for it, that's what I am saying.3) I absolutely disagree. You can't regenerate everything and once you fail, the creature is gone Reassembling Skellis however can come back again and again. Also, your other creatures require both sacrificing and discarding creatures, Reassembling Skeletons support both strategies, Drudge Skeletons none.4) Mind Maggots cost one mana more (which means all the difference, especially when running Dark Ritual) and you need to discard at least 2 creatures to make it bigger than Hidden Horror. Of course that's a comaprison, especially if you insist on regenerators instead of recurring creatures.
* A deck called "Gaea's Blessings" without an actual Gaea's Blessing? ;)* Yavimaya Elder should be in here, probably replacing Seek the Horizon, but I would also check other cards to cut.* This deck could make use of ordinary Llanowar Elves to maximize Scryb Rangers. And talking of Scryb Rangers, you have no way to make them bigger other than Overrun, so the flying is negliable, I would swap them for Quirion Rangers. I don't think you need four Scouts. So:-2 Sakura-Tribe Scout+2 Llanowar Elves-4 Scryb Ranger+4 Quirion Ranger* Howl of the Night Pack ... while certainly powerful, 7 mana is still a lot and I am not convinced that this deck pulls 7 mana off fast and reliably enough (if you accelerate with Gaea's Touch or Scryb Rangers, you don't get full amount of tokens). Consider:- Baru, Fist of Krosa- Wolfbriar Elemental ( more flexible )- Titania, Protector of Argoth (maybe too expensive for budget)* Maybe replace some Forests with Terrain Generators. If you do, you can replace the remaining Scouts with Llanowar Elves.* Ulvenwald Tracker is a pretty cheap rare. Consider replacing some of the Prey Upons with him.
Sure but I think that only applies to when the card is in play, not when it is cast. So, Ancient Ooze wouldn't get any bigger with morphers in play. But for Eidolon/Pillar I *think* using morph as alternate casting cost leaves it at original cmc when you cast it and changing to cmc 0 once it hits play. Much like a a Rock Hydra where you pay 4 for X would have a cmc of 6 when you play it and a cmc of just 2 when it is in play or on the top of your library etc.
