Yea, I agree the Coliseums are not the best choice. I never play TES, so I'll move my Gemstone Mines to this deck.

Dread... Well, I just don't know. I found it was dead a sad amount of the time, especially as the meta has shifted away from creature heavy decks where I am.

I figured. I'm looking forward to seeing how it fairs too, but right now I'm too busy with college apps and grinding for tourniments to devote much time to fun decks like this.

good deal of what you have said warms my heart.

I think your countrrsuie is fine, or even preferable in Doomsday (re: Flusterstorm), but I think that weakening yourself vs Stax and the mirror is not a good call g1. Maybe Storm combo is more previoent in your area, but I couldn't play Mindbreak Trap ms around here.

Sorry for the slow replies, it's 1:30 am I'm on my iPhone

I think i'll have to agree with SWN here. Sometimes I'll want ome, sometimes the other, so lots play both. WnB, you make a fine point, but I fear you are forgetting where these features are going: the wishboard.

MD: -1 Ghost Quarter, +1 Wasteland, -1 Windswept Heath, +1 Plains, -2 Sylvan Library, -1 Jitte, +3 Qasali Pridemage, -1 GftT, +1 Swords to Plowshares.
SB: +1 Gadfock Teeg, + 1 Ethersworn Canonist, -1 Krosan Grip, +1 Jitte, +3 Hymn to Torach.

I know what you mean man. There are decks that are just unfun for everyone involved. Oath is not one of them.

Moving on to this deck, there are a few innovations I would like to extole. Firstly is the structure, and my 36 1-ofs. Seeing many 1-it's is common in Vintage, but 36 is a lot. The rationale for this is linked to what may be my all-time favorite card, Gifts Ungiven. I love that card, precicely because it rewards clever and innovative deckbuilding. Gifts really does everything for you in this deck, it's a card that reads: "Demonic Tutor. Then do it again." --side note, the new Planeschase card has the most epic reminder text in HISTORY -- because of how I built the deck. Secondly we have another brilliant card in Oath, Dragon's Breath. I don't care what you think, anyone who does not play Dragon's Breath in Oath is doing it wrong. Thirdly is my counter suite. People invariably either leave out counterspells or go for 12+. My counter suite has never failed me: take the three best counterspells in the format and play the most foppies of each that you can. Vintage is a wonderful format and I'm sad it's reputation is far worse than it deserves. I love Vintage and will continue to build decks for it so long as people like you are there to appreciate them.

I'm glad you appreciate it :) I spent a fair amount of time making it perfect. Just trying out GftT for fun, I'll prolly switch it for a 4th StP.

Thoughts on the wishboard?

I'd like to use Hymn, but I'm worried about its mana cost. Maybe a few...

meh, rather dissappointed with you man. Kinda just a boring GW deck :P

You could do a GSZ package to spice things up, or run NO. No PtE or StP???

PS: tenterively finished my Rock Depths deck. I'm currently testing it but it's posted

Thanks! I'm still working on my an but right now it's looking like:
3 REB
2 Jitte
3 Lavamancer
3 Spell Pierce
3 ancient grudge
2 Mountain

I really feel I need the mountains be some decks and can't afford to have them v others. I'll admit my love for Fire/Ice exceeds it's utility, but just barely. I like 3 Snares personally.

I've been really working on tempo decks recently, I'll try to get more posted! Thanks for the feed back

Yep! Luckily, you can cast it via alternate methods, including Cascade (and suspend).

The reason I decided against Dread was that you can't cast it unless the opp has a creature, which isn't always the case turns 1-3 (when you want to go off).

You actually run a lot more creatures than I do (5 more), which is where I put in the extra SSG/ESG. I think this reflects the fact that our decks have slightly different aims. I am perfectly happy to put only one or two creatures down, where I get the impression that you want to put down many more. All of my creatures single-handedly will win the game in a maximum of 4 turns, and most in 2 or 3. In general, I don't see your deck wining quite as fast as mine, which I suppose explains wanting more creatures. Drawing multiple Progen or Emmy doesn't upset me, as they just win. I also feel relying on Iona to protect your guys is kinda silly... odds are you don't see her in a given game. I don't like Angel or Sundering either, though Jin's ability is very close to protection, as they need to have a castible removal spell in hand to stop him. ETB effects are cute, but why bother being cute, when it can cost you games?

What's the point of Firespout? What decks would you actually cast it vs?

Yixlid Jailer could be used vs dredge, or any normal dredge-hate. How do you not fold to Tempo or Fish? I really rely on my counterspells in those MUs.

Piper is interesting, but not a good card in this deck. It just dilutes the main engine, is slow, and has no protection. Instant speed white protection is a really bad MD option because its so narrow, but even better cards still cause an even greater dilution of the purpose of the deck. I think I'll pass.

Against extraction play counterspells :P But that doesn't matter as you won't see extraction if you actually use this deck competitively.

Vexing Shusher is horrible in this deck. bring him in and you now have only a 50% chance of your deck working. Even if we assume you magically get off two cascades, you still have a 25% chance of failing. Really bad call.

Ravenous Trap... why?

It That Betrays is also a bad card here. If you don;t win the turn after you go off you are doing the wrong thing. Same with Iona
