Because I don't like the idea of pumping up the other player's creatures. Creatures that I may not be able to block. Creatures like elves, goblins, and such that specialize in hordes. If I'm up against a deck that will let me play it, great. If not, I won't be drawing 40 of them.
Nope. Doran's ability isn't targeted. Creatures with protection can be affected by spells and abilities, but not targeted.
oops. Sensei's Divining Top*
Tiiiiiight. +1 for the summary, +1 for the idea. One suggestion... Why not add in Gilder Bairn and Senaei's Divining Top?
Sweet. Trimmed it down even more and now it's at 70 cards. Maybe now my hands won't get tired when I shuffle. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=37762
lol. Hells to the yeah!
Yeah... Uh, the was an entirely different deck than it was last night. Have you ever had a deck where you felt that you could play whatever was in your library whenever you wanted to? That's what it was like. What I'm going to officially change: -3 Heartwood Storyteller -3 Indomitable Ancients -3 Fog -3 Root Grapple -1 Doran -1 Unstoppable Ash +3 Wickerbough Elder +3 Cream of the Crop +3 Ghostly Prison +1 Dauntless Dourbark Making a new deck for it.
Play test versus my Fungus deck (the only deck I own that can make this one look foolish) with the following changes commencing shortly: -3 Heartwood Storyteller -3 Indomitable Ancients -1 Sanguine Bond -1 Yawgmoth's Bargain -3 Fog -3 Root Grapple +3 Wickerbough Elder +3 Cream of the Crop +3 Diabolic Tutor +3 Ghostly Prison +2 Enlightened Tutor
Fog is out. Ghostly Prison is in. Heartwood Storyteller was fun in the one or two test games I played, and found myself missing him when he wasn't out. But that was before I had Yawgmoth's Bargain. He'll probably go. Actually, I tried running two and never saw them. What I will do, however, is play test with 2 again and replace them with Cream of the Crop. The thought of dropping a 12/12 Dourbark while it's out makes me happy. Rootgrapple is also iffy for me. It's not that is costs too much, it's just that I'll sit with one in my hand for eternity waiting for a decent target. The cost isn't an issue: I can keep it in the top three cards of my library for days with the Top, then, when the time is right, reveal it for Leaf-Crowned, destroy an artifact, land, enchantment, or (my favorite) Planeswalker AND draw a card. For free. Wickerbough, though, you only get one use, draw no card, and have a 4/4 with a useless ability (I have also decided to get rid of Indomitable Ancients for this very reason). I will at least try a proxy with him in place of Grapple.
And it's always handy to have a kill spell.
Thanks for the love everyone!
Oh, and paying life isn't that big of a deal. I usually gain enough life that I could draw my deck out with Yawgmoth's Bargain. I pretty much just draw cards until I have 7 cards in hand or like what I see for my upkeep via the Divining Top and still have close to triple digits.
I thought the same thing about the Fogs, but horde decks absolutely DESTROY me until I can get the Memorial out. I can honestly say the Fog has won me the game at least half the time. Temple Garden is in there because they are forests, so I can search for them with Treefolk Harbinger, they're indestructible with Timber Protector, and they pump up Dauntless Dourbark. Plus, I already have 4 of them. I might take out one copy each of Doran and Unstoppable Ash and put in 2 Diabolic Tutors, though. I'll play test it tomorrow for I am also tired.
-8 Relentless Rats, +4 Thrumming Stone, +4 Brainspoil
Touche. Might toss in some Vivid Groves or something.
oops. If you're*
If your adding in Dark Depths, Squandered Resources would help with mana accell.
Painter's Servant is so rediculous.
Not bad. +1.
