It might be worth adding a Thrumming Stone or two, because if you cannot get the combo to go off you still have a Rats deck, plus it does nothing to help your opponent once you cast Shared Fate. If this were my deck I'd run a single Boomerang or something in U/B to give your opponent something to get rid of Shared Fate. I like pulling shenanigans like that ;) In that way, there's still a shred of hope to cling onto that they might not just scoop when the combo is resolved :P

Old deck, new ideas. Shaman's Trance is a very bottom tier way to abuse Snapcaster Mage :D
Oh snap. How many cards is legal? I don't want an illegal deck, I've been enough trouble lately as is :(
Yup, I almost got you. Oh well, good try!
Are you trolling, or just misinformed? Black is common, silver is uncommon, gold is rare, and red is mythic rare. Trust me, I've been playing since before they started color coding rarity ;)
No... it's not. Necropede is an uncommon.
Woops. Wrong account :P Yeah, SavageTheCabbage is me.
SavageTheCabbage is really me. Just posting so people know it's not an impostor :P
It's really becoming quite depressing, whenever I see one of your decks with Tabernacle in it.. Now that Rishadan Port is easily attainable, I must work on getting a Tabernacle!! Also, what Mortdale said.. I never considered how powerful Bitter Ordeal could be with Psychic Surgery! Just a little bit of dissonance between how we'd play and the actual rules, since you'd typically resolve every copy of Bitter Ordeal simultaneously to speed up the game, rather than actually exile a card, shuffle, exile a card, shuffle . . . I think that alone would be enough to make an opponent scoop ;D
Here's what I've come up with. I'm not quite sure if it's what I intended -- I keep getting interrupted! But I think it'll work better. +1 Icy Manipulator +2 Static Orb +1 Unwinding Clock +2 Skullclamp +1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth -2 Winter Orb -1 Zuran Orb -1 Sword of Feast and Famine -1 Phyrexian Arena -1 Rishadan Port Static Orb gives me control over whether or not permanents untap, which lessens the constraints placed on me before I get it into play. It will require more out of my Icy Manipulators, but even with it on the battlefield, I can operate this deck off of two lands. Also added Unwinding Clock.. I'm not sure if it will allow me to untap Static Orb before my opponent untaps, but if not it'll still work for multiplayer. Reducing Rishadan Port by 1 for another Urborg, tomb of Yawgmoth will hopefully reduce the amount of colorless mana generators in my opening hand, and grant me more colored mana, as that seemed like it'd be a problem. Dropped 1x Phyrexian Arena for 2x Skullclamps. For card draw, nothing compares to Skullclamp combo'd with Bloodghast / Nether Traitor! :)
Glad you like :) This design, I suppose, represents the evolution of my deck building over the past several months. I've built many others with the same "core" set of cards, each one I've wanted to invest in as well. I'm just fickle like that, I guess, but that's also a good thing considering the cost of the cards. I think I've finally settled on this one, though ^-^ $40 per Mox Diamond and Rishadan Port, but those cards and every other one in this deck can be worked into just about any one of the other deck concepts I've designed. Something still seems to be just a little bit off with this, though. I'm not sure exactly what it is, and won't know until I get to play test (which unfortunately, my local group /hates/ proxies).. but I think it lies either in my mana base trying to do too many things (Lake of the Dead + Crucible + Winter Orb = 5 mana per turn + any Mox Diamonds, it hardly sets me back at all!) but without enough black mana to get started.. or it may be in Winter Orb itself. I'm thinking Static Orb might be a better fit, but it isn't quite as effective of a lock down as Winter Orb. Still perfectly manageable though, I think. I'll work out some changes and document them in my next comment. Please let me know what you think :)
Also, bail out options.. I was thinking if I absolutely needed to, I could use Enlightened Tutor / Expedition Map to fetch a Glacial Chasm, even though it's really there to fetch Strip Mine. There's also Tutor / Ghostly Prison. I expect to almost be dead against some decks, before the lockdown is in place.
Hi, and thank you for the reply! This deck is still in conceptual design. It's been in the rough for some time, and only I've only just refined it to be playable yesterday.. though it's far from finished yet. I also do not own many of the older cards (Rishadan Port & Mox Diamond being the most significant), but I am looking to break away from the isolated local meta I've played in for so many years, and begin investing in a quality legacy deck. I've explored enough to find the two archetypes that appeal to me most -- Winder Orb / Landlock, and Extraction. So, in a way, I'm mostly just looking for feedback before I begin buying and trading for some of those more expensive cards. Having said that, though, as soon as I published this deck yesterday, I had an epiphany.. and built this within minutes after. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=208954 It too is still in the rough, but if I build anything, it will likely be that.
I have 3x Dark Depths, and they can be yours for just about anything to help me get my extractor started :)
Shameless plug: My latest obsession has been lockdown decks, and I've considered a few serious builds in between the silly decks I make out of boredom. If you would, please, take a look at my latest prison deck, featuring the always infuriating Winter Orb.. but with a twist! http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=208929 Goal was to be unique, and the execution certainly works, but I'm not sure if I'm really using my options to my best advantage. Cheers ;)
To raggedjoe (off topic): You're from Baltimore? Born in St Josephs, and have lived my entire life just a few miles north into PA. I'll have to show you a thing or two about Magic one of these days :P (fight'n words!)
Ah! I am a happy man! It seems the sell value of the gold bordered World Champion Decks print is $5. ^-^ I'm going to have to get a set of those sometime.
Also, it seems there's a copy being sold on cardsharks.com for $4.99?
There definitely was some inspiration going on to conceive Krosan Beast.. 7) What could you possibly need 32 copies of Bloodghast for? Sort of answering my own question, I once collected nearly 200 copies of Dirty Wererat as part of a competition. Every time I saw a new one I'd quote "You dirty wererat, you killed my brother!" Also, Rishadan Port goes for $42 on average, according to MagicCards.info. Being free-range organic meat animals, the sheep and ducks can sell for quite a bit more than that.
Right now, my favorite card is Bloodghast, but he's already on the list... beyond that, I play a little bit of everything, and can't really claim a favorite card.. so I'll just pick one I've loved for a long time. Krosan Beast! Questions.. 1) You have quite an extensive collection of cards. If you had to estimate, how much would you say your collection is worth? 2) Do you have a will? 3) Would you declare me as inheritor to your collection? 4) If not, would you at least send me a Rishidan Port for Christmas? 5) If not, would you trade one for a sheep or a pair of ducks? The ducks are big. 6) Can I ask a sixth question?
