Oh! And River of Tears is one of my favorite lands too :D It is the perfect embodiment of flavorful card mechanics.

Dimir, Circu Lobotomist? Seems like he'd be a perfect fit. This could also be the deck to take advantage of Mirror of Fate following a Bitterbomb. I've been trying to think of a way to absolutely break the shit out of that card :) Good stuff man!
I'd love Felidar Sovereign if it didn't have that ridiculous line of text, "you win the game." Just plain vigilance and lifelink would be fine by me! I dislike "you win the game" conditions simply because they completely circumvent the back-and-forth power struggle that makes Magic fun! There is a win-con, by the way. I threw this together because I wanted to emphasize a muchly disregarded card, White Sun's Zenith. It has the potential to drop a /lot/ of tokens with Overgrown Battlement.
To tell you the truth, I'm not sure how well this will work. I have to keep in mind the format meta, which I'm not too familiar with. That said, the reason your levelers are commons is because their level up costs are excessive (example: Null Champion is amazing at 7/3 with regen for only {B}, but it costs fully 14 mana to do that), therefore you're really relying on your Venerated Teachers to do anything with your creatures. That being said, you are running Unsummon with is great at taking advantage of Venerated Teacher's ETB ability (as is Turn to Mist), but otherwise you don't really have much working for you. I think if you ran 3x more Champaion's Drake you'd be able to find a bit more consistent power.
It's good for those pesky infinite life gain decks that get lazy and end their loop somewhere in the millions. Also possibly the only way to defeat Storm Crow decks. :D?
Other side of the world (or country.. PA), sorry man :P I would like to talk a few people around here into starting a small pauper league, but I'm already trying to talk people into EDH, too.. so I don't want to try too much at once until the June release of Commander and everybody has a deck.
Btw, here's my U/G Aura Gnarlid deck :) It's standard legal and all commons (so, pauper with more restrictions :P) http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=133842 I'll take a look at your Level Up deck tonight (or in the morning). I just woke up and am too tired to get a cup of coffee yet XD so reading a new deck right now wouldn't do either of us much good. Haha
Looking nice! The reason I suggested Awakening Zone is because Mycoloths became unpopular in my meta between creature destruction (Doom Blade / Go for the Throat and deathtouch via Virulent Swipe), bounce (Unsummon / Disperse), exile (Journey to Nowhere), and there's a lot more removal in Vintage and Legacy. Eating your creatures and then losing the only creature / source of creatures is a real bummer! At least between Asceticism and Awakening Zone (plus Oran-Rief, Doubling Season, and Strength of the Tajuru) you're capable of pulling out a win without relying on Mycoloth, or caring about whether or not he dies. Also, I see what you're doing there with Arbor Elf and Wild Growth. That's pretty clever :) I'd suggest replacing Llanowar with Birds then. Only because Birds is flying, and you've got a few ways to buff him. I'd still really like to see Strength of the Tajuru in here though.. dunno where you'd want to fit him. I'd suggest -1 Wild Growth, -1 Overwhelming Stampede for at least 2. It's not going to contribute to a quick & crushing defeat, but will help in the long haul.
If you have Gaea's Cradle, go for it. It doesn't just speed the deck up, it sends it /over the top/! I don't think you need to worry about white to tutor your Doubling Seasons. Between the mana ramp, GSZ, and the awesome card draw from Harmonize, I think you're pretty solid with or without Doubling Season in play. A few changes I'd make instead: Replace Fist of the Iron Wood with Awakening Zone (Slower, but a steady & consistent source of tokens even after you cast your first Mycoloth), Wild Growth with Asceticism (you have plenty of ramp, lets protect those creatures), and drop either Arbor or Llanowar Elves with Strength of the Tajuru (more +1/+1 counters for Mycoloth or even Birds? Yeah!). Here's a deck list for the suggestions (also replacing Harmony with Preferred Selection, just prefer is over Harmony :P) http://www.mtgvault.com/EditDeck.aspx?DeckID=169814&DeckCardID=3725485
IMO, Aura Gnarlid is most powerful with a mix control auras, like Pacifism. I think you should run at least five or six control auras.
Local SCA lingo for the "Chivalry," or the "Knights"
So glad to see somebody running Explorer's Scope. That card is so underrated! Check out my all common, standard legal deck. It's U/G aura control, think we'd have a good match up :) http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=133842
How are you buffing Spikeshot besides with Teetering Peaks? Signal Pest, Goblin Wardriver, and Goblin Bushwacker will be more effective than some of your burn. You can use the battlecry to pump Spikeshot's power and activate his ability to clear blockers. It's rather nice ;) IMO, too much burn, too weak of creatures.
If you splashed White, there are three cards I am aware of to tutor for or cheat Doubling Seasons into play. Academy Rector, Lost Auramancers, and Idyllic Tutor. Auramancers is a bit slow, as it needs to vanish to tutor, but Academy Rector works well with Devour and Idyllic Tutor. There is also {W}{G} Sterling Grove, which gives your other enchantments shroud, and you can pay {1}, sacrifice it, and tutor an enchantment to the top of your library. Just a few ideas :)
Imo, you're putting too many eggs into one basket. I think you'd be better to replace the Kozilek's Predators with some control (Journey to Nowhere?) and the Broodwardens with Overrun. The Predators are, while good, competing for a slot (CMC 4) already taken by Hero of Bladehold. It's not really aggro if 30% of your deck is nonfunctional until turn 4 or 5.. You don't have the same benefit red aggro does (Lightning Bolt, et al.), which also functions as removal and control so your weaker creatures continue to be functional. Some form of control in this sense would make up for that. Broodwardens are too dependent upon Eldrazi Spawn, and you're not generating enough Spawn to justify running it over an Overrun with will also work with your Memnites, Signal Pests, Ornithopters, Birds, Next Invaders, Accorder Paladins, and Heros of Bladehold. Otherwise, this looks like a fun deck. I might run a watered down version on campus for a week or two. Kudos!
If you live in PA or MD, I totally want them! :P (I don't do online trades though) Unfortunately I had to trade or sell most of my standard collection to pay for college this semester, but still do have a decent collection. I also forgot about one suggestion that also plays along with board wipes. Darksteel Plate! With the Stoneforge Mystics, you don't want to go for the plate if you don't already have swords, obviously, but preserving a Sun Titan or even just a Hawk / Skyfisher w/ Sword(s) through a DoJ can be a pretty big deal! Not really a necessary tactic, just another one of those things I like to think about to abuse the crap out of DoJ. Also, I still think trading 1 Pilgrims Eye for 1 Expedition Map would be a justified exchange. Even if you're not going for an Emeria or Tec Edge, pulling out another March Flats will still provide good land-filtering and work that much better in conjunction with Sun Titan.
Also, I suggest replacing one Pilgrim's Eye with an Expedition Map. Sun Titan + Expedition Map = 3x Emeria by seventh turn, which allows for some amazing late game staying power.
Completely agreed. It can even be used for tricky combos such as preserving one of your creatures through a DoJ and bounce/retarget Journey next turn with a Glimmerpoint Stag, hard cast or returned via Emeria. And between Sun Titan and Marsh Flats, it's not hard at all to reliably get Emeria to trigger. Also, why no Condemns in your side-board? I find them to be one of the most effective counters to big creature threats. First turn Argentum Hawks and second turn Demons, etc. More-so than Journey which exiles and is still susceptible to removal, Condemn completely nerfs a win-con creature's presence by putting it to the bottom of the library, leaving players with either an incredibly lucky shuffle-top deck or tutor to get it back. Anywho, really like this! Glimmerpoint and Skyfisher are two of my favorite creatures for white control, they enable some really nifty tricks. Just really wish I could trade for even just a pair of Sun Titans.. they seem to be a bit rare around here and don't circulate much.
Err, lol. There's about 10 cards otherwise in this decklist that I don't have yet either. Added Austere Command and Sun Titan. Thanks for Austere Command, I didn't know about that one.
I've been looking for a Sun Titan for a while now. When I get one, I'll be running him for sure!! Until then, though...
