296 Decks, 4,543 Comments, 1,812 Reputation

Alright, I contacted both admins about the issue you had getting into the forums, and they changed the question to something less ambiguous. Give it another try.

Whoa. Alright, I'm not sure what all the hubbub was about in those deleted posts, so I'm not even gonna ask. As far as I'm concerned, it's already been dealt with and we've moved on.

To make things a bit more clear for you, here's how the Hot Deck system works. If any active deck (as in, turned to public) passes a specific threshold of likes, comments, and views *per minute* it will reach the Hot Decks page. I'm not sure what the exact rate per minute is, but I know that it's pretty high and the admins tweak it constantly. They wanted to do a rate instead of the old method where X comments, likes, and views total puts the deck to the top because that system has not worked so well in the past.

Now, when a user has more than 2 decks pass that threshold they will essentially have 3 "hot decks". Currently the maximum number of Hot Decks you can have active is 2, so the oldest of the three has its "hot" mark removed *FOREVER*.

This means that if a deck that was once "hot" passes the comments, likes, and views per minute threshold again it WILL NOT return to the Hot Decks page, and it will not bump away your current maximum of 2. I noticed through your comments on other decks (and this one) that you're mostly upset about people being unable to comment on the Static Ability deck. Not true. People can comment on that sucker as much as they want and nothing will happen now that its hot mark is gone. All that will happen is it will go back to being in the Active Decks tab, but any deck that gets a like or comment goes to the active tab...That's why it's called the "active" tab =P

I'm almost positive if you build a deck and keep it unlisted, it can't be given a hot mark until made public, and then the rate of comments, likes, and views will be monitored. So if you're really worried about the 2 hot deck limit, that will work.

I can see both sides of the argument honestly. On one side, other users get really upset when only a few select users get their decks on the hot list. I know this because I was one of those select users, and I saw many other users express that they thought it was unfair. And it kinda was. However, at the same time, I thought it WAS fair, because just like you I put a lot of effort and time into the decks and into commenting on other decks to get my name out there.

So that's where we are now, users who might only ever get one deck to the Hot List will have it there for a really, really long ass time. Users who get decks to the Hot List rather frequently will have their decks up there for a more limited time, due to the maximum of 2.

I would strongly suggest you try talking to the admins, Gary and Ian, on the Vault's Facebook page. It's pretty active and they look at it pretty often. Unfortunately, the forums are pretty dead, so even if you could post there, it might not get to them for a long time. They're actually looking for ways to fix the dead forums too, so hey if you have any ideas towards that too let them know =]

The admins recently did an overhaul on the anti-spam measures for the forums so it might be that the added security went on the fritz and isn't letting anyone sign up. The answer should have been colorless or blue, pretty sure either would have worked. It's mostly just testing to see that you're not a computer. I'll let the admins know about it for sure, because you should be able to get into the forums with the answers you provided...

I think that's it man. While it's true I'm not the biggest fan of rants (again I don't know what went down, so it's cool) I'm fine with answering questions. If you have any other questions just ask.

I just noticed you don't have either Urborg or River of Tears in here...how come?

Yeah it's spread from being a house rule, to a shop rule, and now a few nearby local shops have adopted it too. For ease of pitching it to your buds, here is the official rule:

*The Augmented General rule*

Any of the five Nephilim may be permitted as a general, but shall be treated as though legendary (The 'Legend Rule' will destroy them).

In addition, any permanent or group of permanents that can, at any time, become or produce a legendary creature may be permitted as a general. These permanents are to begin in the Command Zone in their original state. When these permanents are returned to the Command Zone for any reason, they are returned in their original state as well.

Permanent groups, such as the Kaldra Items, must all begin in their original state in the Command Zone and be returned to the Command Zone in their respective original states. These groups of permanents may be cast from the Command Zone individually, or as a whole. The mana tax for returning to the Command Zone will only apply to one of the permanents in the group, to be chosen at the start of the game.

If a permanent that produces a legendary creature (which serves as the general) is removed from the battlefield, but the legendary creature is not, it will not be able to return to the Command Zone until the legendary creature (i.e., general) is removed from the battlefield as well.

The permanent or group of permanents that become or produce the legendary creature (that is to be used as a general) are used to determine said general's color identity.

I think that's the whole thing. =]

The problem with using auras on Aristocrat is that most removal is in the colors black and white. If I gave her protection from those colors, the auras would "fall off" and be wasted.

All the same I appreciate the suggestions/comments =]

Cartel Aristocrat? Far from it. It's a great sac outlet and it's also an amazing evasive chisel.

Soldier of the Pantheon, to me, is more of a sideboard card than anything.

While I do love Blood Artist, and while it would be a good fit in here, I just don't have room. That's not to say you couldn't take this design and switch some things around for Blood Artist.

That's what I have Immortal Servitude in here for. Generally you want to have it hit the 2 cmc area since most of the dudes in this deck fall under that cost. I've found the explosive effect of Servitude to be better than the Whip's one-at-a-time speed.

The only time I've really seen Consecrated Sphinx be as good as people make it out to be is in Arty's Tomorrow EDH, where it lets him dig 6 cards deep any time someone draws a card. Other than that, while I can see it's good, I don't think it's as insane as people seem to think it is.

I also love it when, in order to pay a cost of something, you get to discard a card you wanted in the 'yard anyway.

I guess that makes sense. I'll see how taking out Bloodthrone works. I can't take out Mold Adder, that little dude has surprised me more times than I can count.

I honestly don't know what to take out of this for the new Garruk. Anyone who's still "subbed" to this deck have any ideas?

Note that I already cleared a space for the new convoke artifact (can't think of it's name).

For whatever reason all but one of the many Sygg decks I've seen over the years have been themed around stealing, cheating, trickery, etc. Not sure why...

It is an extremely flavorful card, but I do think it might be worth ditching for one of those other two.

I'm not sure how I feel about Oby 2.0 as a general. It's a lot like how I felt with Oby 1.0 strangely enough. They both have awesome abilities. Hitting someone for 3 life and beefing up whenever a land comes in, or saying "Yeah, no." to anyone trying to tutor are both great. The thing is you can't really build that much around them. I suppose a general 'death' layout would help with Oby 2.0's second ability.

I dunno, I think I just need to see him in action (as a general) before I can form an opinion. I already know he'll be sweet as a supportive card.
