Mmkay, after testing Tormented Soul a bit I am pretty pleased by the card. It's not quite my buddy Fume Spitter, but it's pretty dang great. And yes, I have actually used Fume Spitter in Legacy. Everything went better than expected.

Had to check out your work because somebody said the name from Dr. Horrible was taken, and I'm moderately surprised at the quality of this deck. I run CounterTop for fun mostly nowadays, what with how the format has changed, but I still have at least one design kicking about for tourney play. From all of my experience the CounterTop package really shines as a three/three thing. Otherwise redundancy transits into overkill. Arcane Denial is an easier card in splash than Counterspell, but not quite as easy as Daze. In a format where combo and aggro may do so well due to early game plays it's very handy, and it's decently cheap to pick up. I'm perhaps a bit biased towards it due to the nature of decks I usually run, and run against. On the topic of Extraction, I'm not as comfortable in my résumé when Pox isn't easily reachable, so I advise seeking the help of Surewhynot. My thoughts would be incomplete in comparison, so I'll not bother you there. Sorry if you find my rather few thoughts to be poorly written, English while my first language, is one I feel rather uncomfortable writing in.
Nah, it's stable enough that it SHOULDN'T off itself... Hopefully lol I have a Dethklok playlist on grooveshark, and put it on whenever testing my MBC decks, so your choice of Nathan Explosion is bizarrely fitting.
I'm more inclined to agree with Wumpus on this one, I accidentally drank a coke zero once... Never again... It tasted like nothing resembling a coke. Also, congratulations on front page again!
Dang it... You have a point.
In aggro it's insane, and it's a nice chiseling effect for control, but I always feel slightly dissatisfied with it in control.
I've won games against it because I'd just hold onto a copy of Surgical Extraction for when they try to combo off, whilst chipping at them piece by piece with the pox aspect. Maddeningly easy game for Extraction, and maddeningly boring to play. It's obnoxious for some decks though, so sadly it will probably stick around.
Really? I wouldn't think Tormented Souls to be that big of a deal, being an estranged cousin to Nether Traitor. But then again I'm usually more focused on establishing a lock nowadays, and then usually winning through a manland, or that most beloved recursive beater known as Bloodghast.
Dude, you and Joe took the cake for aggro long ago. Joe has affinity, which is obnoxious as shit since I keep seeing netdecks of it, and you have Stompy. Both very valid threats, but featuring very different methods of approach. I haven't really found myself in a better position of one than the other, the closest being Reanimator not having to worry about Tezz kills from Stompy.
I dunno about Sure, but with my poxtraction I'd take out Show and Tell first. The deck slows down considerably without that, so then all I have to do is take out dream halls and it can't properly combo off.
That was one of the two main ways I was thinking of going forwards from this design. The other is a black splash for Bob, Thoughtseize, ect. The countertop plan is so far the one I want to run more, since it's been a while since I've done one. I've thought about making ThopterTop just because of that, but then I remember that it's more boring than white stax...
Thanks man, and so far this is my favourite use of the mage. Not sure about it overall though, something just seems off... Will hopefully get whatever it is down soon, cause this seems like it could be more fun than this.
MmmmMmmm, Braids-y goodness with Nether Void.
0_o; Bumfuck is only three hundred US?! I can only pray our resident green player never learns of this... This is a really great deck Wumpus, and shockingly competitive for a budget deck. Not going to lie, this is one of the best stompy decks I've seen even. It's better than some I've seen people make running a playset of tarmogoyf!
Hey, at least it's better than Oath of Druids on the cheating scale... @#$%ing Platinum Angels appear from heaven, or Inkwell Leviathan, ect... I have had bad experiences with that deck beating the vintage storm list I have up somewhere.
You have mixed the two combo decks I use into one, the awesomeness reading just says 'SPINALTAP'. However, as a competitive play the deck would probably do better trying to see the normal methods through, but that's the info for the bit of spike in all of us. This. Is. Epic.
The new banned list has led me to give up on the format. The criteria for a ban includes the desire to eliminate turn three combos, which is in and of itself reason for me not to play, but then they upped the ante and hated on blue by getting rid of Mental Misstep... Banning counters is never acceptable to me, excepting Mana Drain from Legacy. That thing would be format warping to the point of silliness. I renounce this format, and name it a perverse eternal format!
The funny part is that's EXACTLY how almost every game against aggro goes.
:D I love MBC with this old school vibe to it, Nether Void has long since been one of those cards I find myself doodling lists for, especially in line of this. I really like some of the ideas in here, it's pretty brilliant. Only suggestions I can come up with is perhaps a few Undiscovered Paradises for assured Bloodghast recursion, and perhaps(personal play style ahead!) dropping Evil Presence for Cabal Therapy. Again, really like the deck buddy. It's to rare to see MBC nowadays...
That sums it up pretty much perfectly, and oddly enough the line of play that people hate on the most for some reason. Anytime I play out through Conflux I get applauded for playing colour coded combo lol.
