I'd say 22 lands is the best.

I can date my work pretty far back :) Maybe you got the recipe from somewhere.I often refer to them.
Themudonja:I've made some changes to your deck on supermegapanda's page.(Try to say supermegapanda page out loud fast three times in a row)
Reminds me of a mana curve with 22 lands that my computer made for me.12 things costing 1.12 things costing 2.14 things costing 3.The closer you can get to this, the faster the deck will be played out.I think the single batterskull can be excused to steal a three cost slot. You got:13 things costing 1.17 things costing 2.10 things costing 3. (Counting batterskull)Your 2 cost cards will bar each other frequently so you end up in a situation where you lose a mana that could otherwise has been spend on a 1cost or 3 cost.So with that in mind, I'd cut the 2 voice of resurgence as the builder describes it as a specific answer, making it a sideboard card.I'd also cut assassin's Trophy and abrupt decay, because we don't want to cut the threats.Since we got 4 slots left for 3 costs, it would be an idea to ad 3 more maelstrom pulse to compensate. The last 3 cost is then batterskull. In the 1 cost department I'd cut 2 hexdrinker and add one more unearth. These changes will make the most use of the mana, and you will have very few mulligans.Search for my deck tag: manasolutionsTo read some background stories for this manasolution
It's a funny way to build a deck, but it could be more efficient. Here's how I'd do it.Take each creature, count how many others it would interact with, and write down the number.Do this for all the creatures. When you have rated all the creatures you can start hunting new creatures. Whenever you find a creature that beats the lowest score add it to the deck and remove the looser. You will soon gain a deck with immense synergy. That's fast track evolution baby ;)If you don't know it, I let evolution build my own decks by using a point system during test games to reveal the worst cards. If you are curious on what such builds may look like search for my tag:Evolutionbuilt The decks produced look weird, but they operate as a sum of a whole.
I paid the price :(My conclusion now, is that it's decent.I wouldn't build up a draw shell around the card unless it fitted in with the rest of the deck.Luckily I need to dig after ensnaring bridge and oona's prowler and removal, so the shell forwards the overall gameplay and justifies stream of thought. Now I got the recipe, I can use it in many other decks. That was actually how I originally thought out halfdecks.I had a thing with designing many interchangeable shells within decks, like how big must a counterspell shell be to support practically any deck, or how much removal is needed. One day the concept of halfdecks just popped into my mind.I have had variants of my paperstrip project where I would assign a certain number of cards to each shell and had a certain method to adjust the size of shells. In theory I could have started to collect shell libraries with the goal of being able to build decks made out of assembled shells, but I got caught up with the process of letting evolution design the deck instead. When I was nr 324 out of the 10.000 best players in Denmark I was working on shells by trial and error. It would have been interesting to see how much better my position would be with my shell designs.Maybe I'll try out that angle again. I originally went into all of this to help newbies to build competitive decks in easier ways, but my paperstrip method isn't exactly friendly towards people without asperger syndrome. It's like a cigarette for me, but it's hell to other people.Going back to find patterns of how many themes like discard, burn, cycle, removal, counter spells and similar could become shellsWould certainly be helpful to new players. Then you could design low budget packages of each theme, show how packages can be put together to create a larger shell (counterspells + carddrawing + few hulking creatures)Then when they start playing they learn to include smaller specialised packages (graveyard hatred, lifegain) depending on the meta.
Damn, there was an error in calculation.Turns out that I have to add, then divide.Ok, for each 26 times I cast stream, 13 of the times draws me a card. Not quite as remarkable. :(And I had just changed all related posts to brag about it.
Alfred! I've achieved 1 to 1 rate with stream of thought. Each time I cast a stream of thought with my stream of mill deck, I get to redraw and play 1 of the reshuffled cards (its random which reshuffled card it is)That means that for me, the card reads: Target player is milled by 4. Then choose 4 cards in your grave and play one of those randomly selected. It took a lot of work to test that damn card, you can read what it took on my page:Stream of millUse the tag wdm mill guide or just search the card name. This means that I am free to either pursuit the older ld-mill or to develop this further along the same lines.I think I might try out a hybrid. An ld-mill with stream of thought as acceleration. The card is a freaking card advantage engine if it's not stopped. This makes it perfect to build up a lantern control mill around it.
Yeah, it is. One day I might even make a tron based mindshrieker deck :)
They only counts as lands when played or on the table. That does mean I'm gonna build a modal mindshrieker deck just for the heck of it.
My guess that inquisition is going out is based on the assumption that you decide which modal side is facing front when you sleeve it. The current rules references are a bit unclear on that.Found it.Front face of modal has a single triangle, backside has 2 triangles.
We can't remember all the details of the game. It's why copycats will one day fail to play the game when there is enough individual decks in the game. Some cards take a certain mindset to be played.Take the infight between lightning bolt and seal of fire. Lb is in most burn while seal is in jund, and seal isn't always there to back up tarmogoyf. It's more or less an adaption against monastery swiftspear. But since swiftspear isn't supported by seal, burn players don't dare playing it, though it might give them an edge in mirrormatches.I've been thinking about the pros and cons of modal spells, and only recently did I conclude that they will probably mean that inquisition of kozilek will get in trouble. Imagine how many cards inquisition is holding back...(Your infect will certainly love to see the card go)Every time we get new cards, magic is actually a new game, but rather than start all over, people stick with the knownUntil it makes very little sense to stick with it, and they also add cards that they think make sense until they realise it didn't make sense at all.In my long past I've seen how older designs suddenly resurface after being neglected for half a year.It takes time for us to get those little details stuck in our mind, and then it starts all over. That's why I am such a huge fan of keeping an extensive archive with explanations on why a card was used, what takes it out, and what has synergy with it :)
Yes, and with so many variants of burn out there with lightning helix, it seems that this deck also needs the extra life in mirror matches, against amulet and other fast decks.I think the main problem in this deck might be that both monastery swiftspear and scourge of the skyclave wants to twist the deck in each of their directions. Burn with focus on swiftspear has manamorphosis and mishra's bauble for example which also brings some immunity against chalice of the Void. With green in it it can use both attarka's command and destructive Revelry. One solution might be thoughtseize, it supports both swiftspear and scourge, and prevents either lifegain, combo or burn, and lowers our life in preparation of playing the scourge.Inquisition of kozilek will soon have a crisis as modal cards can be set to have lands as the face card but their spells can be chosen when the card is played. This will mean that inquisition cannot deal with these cards, which will be a further reason why people wont resist playing them.
Wasn't mox opal banned a while ago ?
Anyways, since my post "evolving modern burn" amulet titan has adapted by starting to use radiant fountain and obstinate baloth. Both of which are comes into play effects. It plays with 1 of the lands in mainboard, one in the sideboard and a baloth in the sideboard. With such low protection it must be winning most trough valakut, so it would be a good testdeck to test out the scourge againstThe deck must maintain a balance between exploiting scourge when it is possible, but must also be able to avoid lowering its life count when scourge isn't drawn.Street wraith would be another way to lower your life.
I was discussing the future meta. It's some time ago
Flame rift would do a lot. Is it legal in modern?
Maddening Cacophony
Nah, eidolons to important, and does forward your goal.Attarka's command with skullcracks might be necessary. The cut would have to be in cards with no impact on the meta, like lavaspike or (gasp) lightning bolt.Rift bolt serves a purpose against chalice of the Void.
Pretty nice idea to put it in burn with a lot of painlands. If you encounter moon it's not crippled. Some of the modal lands acts as a heavier type of painlands, so they could be a further way to develop this.But...I've recently taken a look at a lot of 2nd place burn, because it's then possible to see what defeats burn. The answer in almost all cases was lifegain. And with scourge of the skyclaves tied upon the opponents life, lifegain will be an even greater vulnerability in this case.Keep on the good fight.Mention mtgvault in a video to move more fans in here. This place is currently low on people.
