You can always test with proxies against proxy decks to see how the cards work together.
I can tell that overwhelmed apprentice will be great. Here's why:

playing it turn 1 will give you the following advantages:

1: you can keep hands with just 1 land (provided it's blue) and the apprentice will dig down to new lands, making it a manafixer.

2: it's mill will reveal which deck your opponent is playing, and at the same time you can then scry useless cards away preparing to face the deck at turn 2.

3: you get an early defence.

Lategame you get to do the following:

1: if your opponent plays a scry effect the apprentice mills their carefully planted card away.

2: you start abusing teferi and the apprentice to both mill your opponent and to scry forward into your deck.
If you set it up right you will sort of get way ahead on the card quality of what your draw, that the opponent gets depressed and scoops.

3: in my own build the apprentice can be timed perfectly by courser of kruphix. It can also be used to set up the top for a last ditch attack with mindshrieker.

Sage of Epityr will have less tricks but stacks your deck a lot better, especially when used with fetchlands to remove bad cards

Eladamri's call is definitely the easiest way to go combo with the creature parts, but since it only works on that, it might not be the best way to go infinite.

I usually use sage of Epityr to manipulate my odds of drawing the right stuff, but overwhelmed apprentice might also be a powerhouse in that direction, so a combination of overwhelming apprentice and omen of the sea might be overall better than omen and eladamri.

Hmm, neither thallids or pauper are within my usual field, so I'm at a loss here.
As always, I'll say to keep the mana symmetrical (sort of an even split between colors)
Theres also a white token generator around the lorwyn cycle, costing 3w that can be replayed by sacking a land.
It isn't thallid but it was pretty good.

If you ever go outside pauper with this, I just mentioned the decktag: knightfall
In another discussion where I abuse courser of kruphix with mindshrieker.

I'm really in deep waters otherwise.
*choke gurgle*

Also had this weird vision of a more infect like thallid deck with boosting spells, and my brain just went "saps with abs"
I may be sleep deprived...

Search for the decktag: knightfall
The top two decks are lists where I go infinite mana to abuse mindshrieker
Mindshrieker also serves as a way to establish the combo quicker by creating an effect similar to lanternmill, just centered on yourself.

Perhaps you can use my variants to something :)

It should be doable.
Losing life is easy.
Perhaps with scourge.
The important thing is to notice what can kill it, and what plays that.

It had reached a high status of playability before lurrus, and then went explosive.
I remember trying to get millers to play it during 2019 as a replacement for visions of beyond.

Transformational sb is pretty good to have.
Wish boards is something I think can be just as powerful, but it's dependant on drawing the three current wish cards.

Didn't find it, but tried "eldrazi aggro 2016 turn 2" and then found it.
3 mimics and a smasher. Fun stuff :)
I'm testing against shoal reanimator, and simian spirit guide was part of that too.
Gonna miss that ape a lot...

We are not seeing the sideboard :)

Sometimes people tend to keep the sideboard a secret.
The three rest in peace is obviously a meta call, but against some decks they must become sideboard, and that how he will probably throw some people off, by suddenly enabling the graveyards when people sideboard their grave tech out to avoid rest in peace.

The title is part of the lure ;)

I've been thinking a lot about what kinds of sub meta that exists in arena, which is part of why I started on the halfdeck project. A lot of the top meta has visible foundations in the free cards, but also work in a classic cyclical meta with the usual themes.

In my experience the more rogue layers of meta are beaten by consistency, which is why the top decks are the top decks. They are consistent. Having an unpredictable deck leads to unpredictable situations, and it will sort of be random who prospers at these.

The foundation of building my halfdeck series is sort of based on discovering the patterns behind how the meta got the shape it has.

Think about how you are sliding into the basic structure of ramp, and research how ramp deals with the different kind of decks out there, because you will need some of the same tricks to be consistent, but you must also retain your rogueness to deal with the future top.

How many layers of official rank is there ?

Never even thought about the sagas.
That's one problem with watching arena footage too much, you never see what the precise mechanics are.
I've been considering learning the cards more seriously.
But with a third wave of corona, who knows when governments will finally fold and return to the past reaction of just shrugging and get on with life.
