Once modern control decks always had some trinket mage, pithing needle and engineered explosives and "tolarian ruins" I think it was, or ruins of tolaria. Academy ruins?

Anyways it stopped a lot of decktypes.

True :)
I just like trinket mage a lot.

I've built the prototype and based it on dread.
Because of that I've come to think that a pure black poxdeck with raven's crime, dakmor salvage and dread might be pretty good.

Each time the opponent tries to keep a card in their hand you simply dredge dakmor salvage, then you play raven's crime from the grave.

To support such a strategy you will sometimes need to draw more cards than the opponent.
Time to dust of those dark confidants :)

Odd, I've never had any problems with "saving" things.
For a long time I never even used the save button. Things were always there anyways.

Yeah, storm entity has been forgotten by most :)
It's different from kiln fiend, and it's haste might help.
There aught to be a combo with it in our days as I had some close builds back then.
Maybe through Grinning ignus combo and some new elementals ?

Well, my decks are mainly from 2018, so I might have passed what you consider eldrazi winter, I got a lot of different eldrazi decks, like mono white, bloodbraid, colorless, ug, and tron, and probably some others I've forgotten about.

At modern nexus jordan boisvert covers a colorless eldrazi he used to win first place out of 400 at worcester during 2018, it has 4 relics and 1 surgical extraction, and he has used it two times recently with succes, though I didn't look at the sb of 2019 and 2020.

Look up haakon loam.
It was present between 2014, 2018 and into 2019.
No faithless looting there, and its bwg, which means you just add green.
I'm sure you can think up a hybrid.

Ban changes are always the hardest to overcome, so people just give up by default. But the greater reality is that loam existed before faithless looting, and so can be changed accordingly. It's funny you think graveyard hatred was low during eldrazi winter, I remember death's shadow as present back then because both gurmag angler and death's shadow were large enough to halt most eldrazi. And how would eldrazi deal with decks like instant reanimator, or living end, hollowvine and so on. The answer is that through out april to december 2018 most eldrazi designs featured 4 relic of progenitus and 1-2 surgical extraction in the sideboard. Learn from the past or repeat it, or in magic terms, learn the past so you can copy it ;)

Alfred has taken the role of my friendemy (friendly enemy) and is apparently digging into my deep past.

Splinter thinks I talk too much, and knows I can talk about mill forever. We also have a few thorns in each others side.
(Sorry for continuing this conversation splinter, you've nailed it down this time...)

I'm just being my good old wicked self.

I think alfred saw one of your other recent decks and took a look at your old ones, because we've recently been having a troll that uses old accounts to copy/paste a lot of decks to make it difficult to keep a community.
Long story anyways.

Good to see you are still being active.
(Provided that you ARE you :) the troll has a fetish of using edh)

It was fun to see my shriekhorn analysis again, but I've promised splinter not to respond to it :)

I'll be readable if you still revisit mill in modern.
Search for the decktag: wdm mill guide
Then click on the "cards" in my archive to get detailed info.

I think squee was in legacy designs, you had a modern 2018 seismic loam so I assumed we were still comparing modern :)

Anyways I got 64 test decks from around 2018 (all proxy) I plan to post them all in here sooner or later. I can create a list with the names if you want to go through the nostalgia of seeing some of them. There might even be differences between your decks and mine that might be worth a talk ;)
Would you like me to list them ?

Heh, I especially like the urborg, flagstone, smallpox trick.

I've been looking at a few smallpox builds lately (but you know that)
And I remember seeing ensnaring bridge in some of them.
One of the problems with using ensnaring bridge is usually that it won't work before you've emptied the most of your hand, and since I've been designing a mill deck with this recently, one of my fixes were to adapt oona's prowler.

Oona's prowler would serve several functions in your deck:
1. It supports nether spirit, and may get it played early while adding aggression through flying.
2. It "supports" lingering souls by making it cheaper, at the price of not playing it twice.
3. It makes opponents tilt when it attacks turn 3 and they discard a card to cripple it, only to see liliana hit play, crippling their hand.
4. If you adopt ensnaring bridge you can manage to get a turn 3 emergency lockdown when facing ultra fast aggro.
5. It allows you to escape cling to dust faster when facing graveyard based decks.
6. Its actually a decent beater.

That's true, and I think I know which goblin it replaces. Can shoot targets by using goblins ?
Siege gang of course :) which is searchable with matron.

I'm more statistical than mathematical :)
I once got the grade 03 in math and told both teacher and censor that I was happy we didn't have a 00 grade ;)

Getting singles is done by goblin matron, and I often preach that you need at least 2 of the same hatred cards, 3 if it's vital for the deck.

SPLINTER:
He is sort of a troll, isn't he :)
I'll let it slip through this once, I've had the "you don't understand statistics"
Thrown at me before ;) so I'll pretend I didn't see this.
