Hi squiggy_b,

Glad you like the deck. Added Painful Quandry and Mind Sludge (there is no brain sludge).

If there is any deck you'd like me to take a look at post it here.

squiggy_b,

Ha! So many curses! Don't know if the idea will crush the competition but I just love the idea of saying
"I cursed you once, you've cursed you twice, I'll keep cursing you until either you or I die!!!!"

And if I lose saying "Curses foiled again!"

Hi Elsbaun,

Very nice deck. I really like the general concept of the deck. Forced Fruition is a pretty high mana cost card, but it is a killer combo card with Liliana's Caress in this deck. The main problem I see with this deck is doesn't have any defense against counterspell and and enchantment removal. 4 Spell Pierce and 4 Mana Leak instead of the creature removal cards might serve you better.

I just finished a Liliana's Caress Deck using very different ideas. Check it out it may give you ideas of how to improve your deck.

Hi dragon77,

You asked me to take a look at your deck. One card that jumps to mind that might be very useful in this deck is Angel's Grace. You might add a few. The main difficulty in the deck is getting out Workship and Near Neath into play. A few Enlightened tutor or Academy Rector might be of help.

Isochron Scepter + Angel's Grace or Silence or Orim's Chant or Holy Day might give you the needed
defense you desire to set up your Near Death Experience combo.

Angel's Grace
Instant, W (1)

Split second (As long as this spell is on the stack, players can't cast spells or activate abilities that aren't mana abilities.)
You can't lose the game this turn and your opponents can't win the game this turn. Until end of turn, damage that would reduce your life total to less than 1 reduces it to 1 instead.

Hi thGR8D35tr0Y3r,
You asked my why 2 Phyrexian Metamorph in sideboard in your Delver Salt deck? Since everyone is running Phantasmal Images lately in Delver and more and more people are packing Gut Shot and other low cost targeting spells in sideboard. And Phyrexian Metamorph can clone stuff with out the weakness of Phantasmal Images and just costs 1 more mana than Phantasmal Image. Plus Phyrexian Metamorph is just plain good in a deck with Vapor Snags. Opponent ramps into something big like Wurmcoil you then cast Phyrexian Metamorph and then go Vapor snag. That often is game.

Hi Kazzaong,

Glad you like the deck. I not sure why this deck hasn't got more comments. Perhaps it's because the Vault is lately mostly about posts for standard decks. There are not too many Legacy casual players like me visiting the Vault regularly. And Standard players are often hesitate to offer advise or comment on Legacy and Vintage decks. Heck even I'm hestitate and rarely ever suggest adise for Vintage decks and I've played since Ice Age.

Also most good casual decks don't get commented because they are not "tourney worthy". Even if a casual deck does something really new and very different rarely is it "tournament worthy".

Anyway don't worry to much about not me making Front Page, I've had my fair share Front Page decks.

Feel free to post any decks you'd like me to look at and I'll try to get around to checking it out.

Hi Dauros,

What exactly are you proposing? Maybe taking out Dark Rituals and substituting Culling the Weak and replacing Zombie infestation with Ornithropters and maybe 2 swamps with 2 songs of the damned?

Please advise a little more clearly. Idea has merit but I'm not clear how to best implement ideas.

Hi TribalH3adHunt3r,

You asked me to look at your deck.

Wow, lot of 1 of's in the deck. At first I thought I was looking at a EDH deck till I scrolled down.

Why so many 1 of's, fear of Surgical Extraction? ;-))

First off you have 12 cards that are 5 mana or higher this is not good unless you have some way to
put them into play cheaply, you don't, so first off I'd work hard to include more mana efficient cards.

Here is a short list of what I consider the best low mana cost Legacy cards in black, blue, and red.

Black
Thoughtseize, Surgical Extraction, Go for the Throat, Doom Blade, Innocent Blood, Smallpox, Dark Confidant, Entomb, Reanimate, Dark Ritual, Dismember

Blue
Force of Will, Brainstorm, Ponder, Gitaxian Probe, Spell Pierce, Spell Snare, Mana Leak, Snapcaster Mage, Jace, the Mind Sculpter, Phyrexian Metamorph

Red
Lightning Bolt

Red Black
Terminate

Blue Black
Countersquall

Using the above cards and your land base here's what I come up with

22 Spells
4 Thoughtsieze
4 Surgical Extraction
4 Spell Pierce
2 Brainstorm
2 Gitaxian Probe (or 2 Dismember)
3 Terminate
3 Countersquall

18 Creatures
4 Dark Confidant
4 Snapcaster Mage
4 Avatar of Discord
2 Jace the Mind Sculpter
2 Phyrexian Metamorph
2 Bloodgift Demon

Note: How Avatar of Discord sort of helps Snapcaster Mage and
Jace the Mind Sculpter and Dark Confidant may help against the disadvantage of Bloodgift Demon.
Phyrexian Metamorph works with Snapcaster Mage

Your Land base
20 Land
2x Swamp
1x Dimir Aqueduct
1x Izzet Boilerworks
1x Rakdos Carnarium
2x Badlands
2x Underground Sea
2x Volcanic Island
1x Crosis's Catacombs
1x Graven Cairns
1x Sunken Ruins
1x Cascade Bluffs
2x Crumbling Necropolis
2x Island
1x Mountain

How I might of done the land base
3 Badlands
3 Underground Sea
4 Polluted Delta
4 Bloodstained Mire
2 Mountain
2 Island
2 Cavern of Souls

To recap
1. Use the most efficient cards you can
2. Try to put together cards that have good synergy with each other
3. Try to make your land base very reliable

Hope this gives you an idea of how develop more efficient decks.

Hi TribalH3adHunt3r,

You asked me to look at this dec.

Well.....
OK, this deck seems to be type 1 legal.
First off I'm not a big type 1 player. Personally I'm much more a Legacy and Standard guy.
That being said, this deck seems to be a casual deck because there's no side board and since the deck looks to be a sort of combo deck because of Tinker, Master Transmuter, and Enlightened Tutor, The deck really looks like you are playing a game of boy I hope my opponent doesn't have any counterspells because then I win, but if they have lots of counterspells oh well I'm screwed.

This decks really needs some blue counter spells to protect the combo's going off.

Cards you might want to consider adding into deck or sideboard

3-4 Spell Pierce
3-4 Mental Misstep
3-4 Spell Snare
1 Mystical Tutor

possibly 1or 2 Show and Tell - as it is my favorite blue combo card in the game.

Hope my ideas help.

Artful Dodge is a good card. But I really like Gut Shot for all those Phantasmal Images I see lately in various Delver decks. I guess I could try cutting a few Gut Shot and putting in Artful Dodge instead and perhaps sideboard some Gut Shot.

Hi thGR8D35tr0Y3r,

Well I do have Groundswell; its in sideboard. They replace Noxious Revival and Wild Defiance against non-direct damage decks. If you want to put Groundswells in main board and put Wild Defiance and Noxious Revial in sideboard and sideboard out Groundswells against direct damage decks that cool.

But really don't like Groundswells in main deck because I'm running only 16 land which I can get away with because I'm running basically ten cards that cost nothing (mutagenic growth, invigorate, and noxious revival).

Hmmm..... what's not worth the price? This casual and my play gang allows proxies.
That being said. What do you fine wrong with the deck? Other than the price of the cards?

Hi Cfybbdrummer,

I'm suprised you haven't added any extraction to the sideboard. These cards type of cards can destroy combo decks. Surgical Extraction or Extirpate are some possibilities.

You do realize that this deck currently has no defense against counter spells in main deck though the Perplex is an modest card against counterspell in the sideboard.

Many typical Legacy blue combo or control decks contain around 16 counterspells in main board (4 Force of Will 4 Spell Pierce 4 Daze and 4 Counterspell) and would stop this deck in its tracks and go off turn 4 or 5 with no problem. You need to consider adding some counterspell or discard of your own to handle the problem of counter spells. You should consider adding either mana leaks, spell snare, spell pierce, Countersquall, duress, or thoughtseize to your sideboard and possibly into main board too.

Finally Snakerunner makes a very good point. Witchbane Orb and Leyline of Sanctity are troublsome, but even more problematic for your deck are cards that reshuffle the player's graveyard into their library like Emrakul, the Aeons Torn. With no way to extract cards out of opponent's deck your deck has serious problems against graveyard reshuffling. You should seriously consider adding a card like Cranial Extraction into your sideboard.

Hi surewhynot,

Maybe 1 or 2 Shrapnel Blast or Goblin Gernade and 1 Fireblast or 1 Final Fortune?!? as finisher cards.

Of course if you don't need to keep deck legacy or modern legal maybe add 4 Black Vise.

4 Great Furnace instead of 4 Mountains also is a possiblity if you don't care if deck is modern legal.

Hi Otterbox,

Nice deck. But I really don't think a deck is tournament quality until it has a sideboard.
The trick to killing Delver I think is low cost mass removal, extraction, and low cost artifact removal. Things like Ratchet bomb, Slagstorm, Whipflare, Surgical Extractions, and Ancient Grudge.

Thus a sideboard for your deck might be

2 Ratchetbomb
3 Ancient Grudge
2 Whipflare
4 Surgical Extraction
4 Revoke Existence

of course ratchetbomb and whipflare could also hurt you as well so play them carefully.

Nice build great way to abuse Galvanoth.
Put some protection in sideboard for Galvanoth to give it hexproof or to bounce back into hand.
