Solid deck, +1. Like any deck, the hero is susceptible to removal. Paths, doom blades, sacs, etc. Plus of course, you have to draw him. For the time being, I'd suggest putting in Apostle's Blessing to protect him once he's out (since he'll have to wait at least 1 turn to ping people). Very nice deck though!

Forgot to add. What do you think about Wild Growth for more mana ramp? Because if you tap a forest to get 2 mana, you can use your arbor elf to untap it and tap it again to get a total of 4 mana...

Definitely a +1 Jessie. This is definitely another of your decks that I'll have to proxy (or make, since it's sorta budget). Looks like you can slow them down to a crawl while you just poke them to death with 1/1 elves HAHAHAHHA

btw, what's with "don't drop the soap" - I know what it means in terms of the whole prison thing, but how does it apply to your deck? just curious.

Another great deck Jessie. I would have to agree with what others said regarding the mana base at least. You don't have to make it overly complicated. 4 Breeding Pools will definitely help. I personally prefer some elvish mystics for extra mana ramp until you have complete control and just use them to poke the guy to death if you can't find your wurms.

oops my bad, I thought they were standard legal since they are so common.

Very nice deck! +1 and a thumbs up! How do you feel about mana leaks? I've always preferred those over the "noncreature" or "instant or sorcery" specific counterspells.

Light from Within is also great, but it's a 4-drop. That's why I don't like it as much. I have it in a few other decks, but only because there is higher white devotion.

Whatcha think about Honor of the Pure? I think a few should still be able to keep this deck budget. A 2-drop for all white creatures you control to get +1/+1? I love Honor of the Pure in mono-white decks.

Well, I figured you are hands-down the expert in budget decks so you know your cards left and right. Mortify can be good, especially since there is no drawback (such as Path to Exile, which gives them a free land). Plus, I suppose I could use mortify on my own geralf's messenger (after he attacks) to deal an additional 2 damage (I've noticed that most opponents continue to take geralf's messenger's damage rather than kill him and have him come back, even stronger, AND deal an extra 2 damage). Using Mortify on my own creature could be a game-ender depending on life totals heheh. Thanks!

Dude, you're popping out decks faster than I even have a chance to analyze them hahahah! I'll never even get a chance to proxy-test a tenth of them at the rate you're going. Well, in the meantime, do you think you could take a look at my new orzhov deck? It's basically my mono-black with a splash of white:

Thanks bud. Keep up the good work!

Great idea man! Totally forgot about Masako. Great girl who gives vigilance and since it has flash? Smash up their creatures when they attack while thinking you cannot block hahahah.

I want thank everyone who liked this deck, gave comments on it, and offered advice. I've been playing this at my local comic book store and also at Channel Fireball Modern Tournaments. It's been doing really well. Usually a 3-1 record. However, I've been secretly putting more money into tuning it into an Orzhov deck to make it more powerful. You can check it out here:

Noooo! This deck was already taken off the HOT DECK list. Too bad you can only have 2 up there at a time. I really like this one since it uses an old mechanic that no one is expecting (like Knights with FLANKING). Taking a closer look, I have to admit I'm a big fan of low mana curves. I've always been a fan of Door of Destinies (or Coat of Arms - non-budget though DOH!), especially in Tribal decks, except that Door of Destinies is kinda slow. Everything before turn 5 don't add to the charge counters...

Hmmm. How about 2 Serra's Blessing (2-mana, all creatures you control have vigilance). It'll make FULL use of the Bushido mechanic. Attacking and blocking. ;-)

Oops! Good catch. Yeah, mono-black? With such high devotion? Graymerchant of Asphodel is a must! =)

Another +1 Northy! Except for the Titan, I know you got a whole Tribal Zombie thing going on there. However, since the devotion to black is so high, I would suggest adding some Graymerchant of Asphodel. By turn 5, it could already be a game-ender just by summoning him =)

Very solid deck, I like it. +1! I was going to suggest umezawa's jitte, but then I figured adding a single card of those would triple the cost of this deck. Still, yet another great deck!
