Warstorm surge? NICE CARD! I'm def putting it in my deck ASAP, it combos with Mycoloth much better than Pandemonium and I don't have to wait in order to play it! all for only 2 more mana. Combined with primal forcemage it becomes a win con! :)

Great deck all around, though I would say put in lightning graves or door of destinies instead of altar of dementia, even when you swing with your war-Pride you are not likely to mill their entire deck in one, or even two goes.

Congrats for stomping at the tournament! I love zombies, and here they are blending so well with vampires. I've never built a standard deck, but if I had I wish I could have built this one!

I can't suggest anything because unfortunately I'm not familiar enough with standard, but I'm betting this deck could hold its own very well in casual play too. If you wanted to mod it for casual then I can't suggest unholy grotto enough, it would combo great with messenger.

If you'd like then please check out my zombie tribal deck. It give all your zoms deathtouch then combines it with first strike for a great attack deterrent. It'll cheats all the swamps in your deck directly in to play with an unholy grotto/korlash combo, makes all lands in play swamps then, after all the zoms are pumped up to deal at least 5 damage each, gives all your zoms swampwalk for a killer finish swing.

It's strict tribal and a lot of fun, the only non creature/non land card is dark ritual.

First, you say something useful about my deck, then I check out your decks. Not before.

Way to go front page more than a year after this deck was uploaded. I wonder if the creator is still around to appreciate it?

A very fun deck indeed, great concept!

Then did you check out my "Fat Fat Fatty" deck? It recently cycled off of the front page. People seemed to like it a lot. :)

I haven't labeled any of my decks as "tournament quality" for that reason. To me, tournament quality decks should consistently win in three turns or less.

I don't like tournament quality decks. My decks are casual, fun, combo/creature based decks.

Lots of mana accel in here, coupled with arbor elf, should provide you with plenty of mana to hard cast War-Pride and take advantage of Rhys's ability over and over.

First thing you need to do is cut out six cards somehow. You need to have the least cards possible in your deck to maximize the chances of you drawing your win condition. I don't think you need Rampant Growth along with all the other mana accell, it'll thin out your deck in the long run, but it'll thin out your hand early game and you don't have any way of drawing more cards.

Also, no need for Avacyn's Pilgrim with all the other mana accell and mana fixing you have. If you cut out all those cards you'll be down to sixty.

Next thing you need to do is make your deck more reliable, so... Worldly Tutor! (or Sylvan Tutor, though it's not an instant). You will need 4 of these for the simple reason that they act as 4 of anything you might be missing. All those high CMC creatures that you have 2 or 3 of in your deck? Take one of each out and put in a tutor, that way your hand will usually be much more well rounded.

That's my advice! You should post this deck in my challenge. :)

PS. I am taking Kamahl out of my deck, and putting Natural Affinity in. That card is just too good to pass up.

I hope this deck makes front page. I'm going to try it out on Cockatrice to see how well it really works.

I don't think you can rely on mana ramp to that extent in this deck unless you are somehow drawing cards like crazy. I've done your 3 turn War-Pride drop before, maybe three or four times, out of dozens of times playing my War-Pride deck. All you have to do is look at how many cards that "ideal" situation takes in order to know that the odds of you having them all in hand, even by turn four, are not very good.

3 lands + 3 mana accell creatures + 1 war pride = 7 cards
Turn 3, assuming you drew on turn one, you will have drawn a total of 10 cards

Tooth and Nail, especially if entwined, would take an amount of mana that I think borders on ludicrous. By the time you have that much mana and a Tooth and Nail, you should have drawn a War-Pride and hard casted.

Of course, all my criticisms and advice will depend on your local meta. You know better than I what kinds of decks and cards you are most likely to play against.

As a side note, as a fellow competitor and War-Pride fan, you must check out this guy's deck. I think it is front page material.

Wow. I think, sir, that you have made a fantastic deck. This addresses all of the problems with getting war-pride to attack, while milking it for everything it has got, and looks like it'll do it quickly.

I like your deck!

One more card suggestion. For this deck, Congregation at Dawn or Lead the Stampede would both completely trump Commune with Nature. Commune with Nature is better cor low CMC decks where you will be looking for creatures on turn 1-2 and playing them on turn 2-3. This is not one of those decks.

Of course, there is always Defense of the Heart, which I play in my deck, and also combines very well with Forbidden Orchard and helps get around that pesky high CMC in order to let your Angel and Cloudshift do their work. You could run 4 of those with 4 idillic tutors. They would also allow you to drop both Nacatl and Rhys on he same turn.

Nice deck! Bramblewood Paragon and Bellowing Tanglewurm certainly add to the War Pride's already fearsome ability! Primal Force Mage belongs in here for obvious reasons (he's in my deck too) but since you already have white, you might consider a Goldnight Commander instead (he is much better for War-Pride). Rhys just makes War-Pride ridiculous, provided you are able to:

A - Get both out
B - Get War-Pride to attack (1 turn after casting War-Pride, at least 2 turns after casting Rhys)
C - Get your War-Pride tokens to attack (2 turns after casting War-Pride)

This is a very slow combo that is open to all kinds of creature removal. It is also really only useful in multiplayer where you'll need to attack more than once or twice with your War-Pride. Unfortunately, multiplayer is usually rife with wrath and creature removal, so what are the odds of the combo going off? If you are playing this in a two player setting, I would recommend taking this card right out (maybe replace it with Goldnight Commander I suggested earlier).

The only other constructional weakness I see is Restoration Angel (and to a lesser extent Cloudshift). I understand their purpose and how they work, but think about the situation in which you would be most likely to use them:

While War-Pride is still summoning sick.

This is a problem because, assuming you cast War-Pride as soon as you could get enough mana (if you don't you're slowing your deck down), you will be tapped out. After all, War-Pride costs 6 mana to begin with, what are the odds that you will have 4 mana left to cast a Restoration Angel between casting your War Pride and his first attack phase?

What's more, those cards will not help your tokens.

There is much room for improvement here, but you still get applause for Bramblewood and Tanglewurm!

I never thought of a Rhys combo before I saw this deck. Dirty and fun! The only problem i would have is how long it must take to set up the combo. Even if Rhys is already in play, you still need to summon your War-Pride, it's summoning sick, so you wait a turn before attacking, then all your tokens are summoning sick so you have to wait another turn for them to do anything. That's two turns of waiting!

If you do get through those two turns though, your opponents are dead. Not just a little dead, a lot dead.

The problem again is, normally one attack with a War-Pride would kill most opponents, so this combo lends itself better to multiplayer games where you will need to sustain until you can kill all your opponents. Unfortunately, wrath effects and mass bounces are very common in multiplayer games, so by the time you get through two turns with your War-Pride(s), they have most likely been dealt with.

LOL! Never saw that card before. It would help this deck do a lot of wrecking, but I would have to add white and take something else out. What are your suggestions?

Generally I would agree with all of this advice, it should be noted there are exceptions though.

Firstly, you can add mana acceleration to your deck to play higher CMC cards sooner.
Secondly, you can tutor for cards you might need, thus if you are running 4-8 different kinds of tutors, having 1-2 of each kind of card might be acceptable and will allow your deck more versatility.
Thirdly, you can cheat cards in to play using other card abilities.
Fourthly, you can add lots of card draw.

I currently have a front page deck, Fat Fat Fatties, that breaks most of your rules and wins fairly consistently by doing that things I just said. However I will concede that if you are going to break one of the great rules you listed, you do need to compensate for it.

My front page deck:

I specialize in multiplayer decks but this deck looks like it would function best in single player. I can't tell you what you should do for sure, I see your strategy and it seems solid. Force your opponent to attack you with 1/1 creatures you give him, and prevent that damage for free with thunderstaff while allowing your slumbering dragon to get huge.

I might recommend running Worship and maybe Enlightened Tutor to get it out, and maybe Privileged Position instead of Robe of Mirrors? I suppose that would mean splashing white, but it could easily be done with 4 reflecting pool and any of gemstone mine/vivid creek/vivid crag.

Thanks for the comment on my deck, if you liked it please check out my others!

Sure thing, and for reference, fog wouldn't prevent damage from Pandemonium. Fog only prevents combat damage, and Pandemonium is not combat damage.
