You are right... ...the archaeomancer can also get me back the Whelming Wave that returns it to my hand over & over again... ...but against any deck that uses counters, it's useless, also against most control decks, even without blue in them... ...it would also mess up the tempo of the deck & this is a tempo-control hybrid deck type that focuses on survival.......

I'll check your deck in a sec!.. :)

Thanks!

It's lacking draw-oower, but Read the Bones just don't fit in, neither Connections... ...it's working well, but sometimes, against mono-black(not any mono-black) it ends up short on removal... ...also, when a strong mono-blue can use Bident for at least 4 cards & draws at least once with Jace as well & hit the right stuff, than the removal might also fail me.......

I always delite those comments... ...no help, nor opinion at all, only spamming... ...that's stupid & characterless.......

This could work... ...a little slow, but you can survive for sure... ...the only card that is a nemesis for you is Rakdos' Return... ...you could use some Negates in the sideboard to avoid it...

Changes in the sideboard: -1 Zarek(not much reason); -1 Krumpix(not much reason); -2 Downfall(double black won't always happen here); -2 Vine(if not main, than not at all)... ...+3 Negate; +2 Slaughter Games; +1 Revoke Existance...

I like the fact that you use only 2 Jace, since it's -2 ability could cause you to put gates on the bottom & you have only 2 of some of the gates, also no method to shuffle your deck after it happens... ...even tough a source your opponent control could make you shuffle it...

I can see this deck making top-8 even at major tournaments... ;)

You might could help me with this one, since you are also familiar with control decks: http://www.mtgvault.com/poetmasterx/decks/sunwurm-architect/

May be I could also use some Fog &/or Riot?.. ...in the sideboard perhaps?..

Gothy... ...to link another deck isn't considered spamming on this site as far as you also provide help within the same comment... ...any time you want to share your builds with others, it's fine... ...it's what this site is for anyway... ...what other reason would we put decks up here for?......

There is no such thing as being modest... ...because being modest is the same as being at modest... ...it's the same thing... ...especially when you state that you're not being obnoxious, because you don't do something for that reason... ...it's just so transparent.......

No reason for speaking about a deck you want others to see & give their thoughts on & not post a link, because you want to look fair so bad... ...if you did post a link, people wouldn't had to search for your deck on your profile... ...you'd spare some time for everyone.......

Curse of the Swine exiles, not destroyes, wich means it can take out gods as well... ...like Nylea, or Xenagos in Gruul... :)

Well said! It's certainly true... ...especially for Obzedat...

The issue here is Gruul Devotion-ramp... ...Curse of the Swine destroyes the flow of it & especially in this deck, where you have many not too small creatures, those 2/2 bigs won't matter much on the other isde... ...his Devotion will perish, if you exile 3-4 creatures with Curse... ...imagine taking out Arbor Colossus, Polukranos & 1 or more Emissary at the same time!.. :)

Selesnya Charm is good enough for Obzedat, but not for Stormbreath, tough 4 damage usually won'T matter before taking that dude out via Detention Sphere, since you have a nice deal of life-gain here...

Primordial sure is a fun card & useful at times, but wouldn't it make your deck more competative, if you just switched it for Arbor Colossus?..

I like the vay Kiora's Follower toke the place of Voyaging Satyr here... ...even tough Nykthos isn't as wild here as in Gruul Devotion... :)

Too slow... ...won't make it... ...lower the curve a bit!..

Primordial is meaningless here... ...I won't use him even as a sideboard... ...I'd rather use Arbor Colossus.......

Sideboards: -1 Hydra; -1 Negate... ...+2 Essence Scatter, or Nullify...

Good luck!

Sideboards: -2 Glare of Heresy; -1 Rapid Hybranization... ...+1 Revoke Existence; +2 Curse of the Swine...

The deck is pretty good... ...I can see these type of decks appear on mayor tournaments, but won'T make top-8 probably... ...we'll see.......

Here are my 2 new decks since BOTG came out:

Thanks!

I was waiting for BOTG to come out, because since rotation, I've made over 70 decks I belive & had no further plans for new ones... ...now I have a few in mind... ...I think both Rakdos aggro & control will be competative... ...Boros aggro as well.......

I'm playing my "Desecration Mortars"(R/B/W control) deck right now & the only changes I made for it is that I run a few Revokes in the sideboard... ...this deck just doesn't let any deck go for the actual win & it doesn't need much time to finish.......

If you do a budget deck, don't play 3 colors!.. ...the lands alone cost a fortune if you can't get them by other means & without those, it won't work properly...

I suggest you make mono-black or blue or red... ...red is the cheapest to put togeather, but a little less competative than the other 2, tough my mono-red beat lots of full-fladged esper & other types of control decks, even when I haven't drawn Hammer at all...

May be an Azorius control deck could be aranged... ...if you can't afford Revelation, run Oppoetunity instead!.. ...it wouldn't be hard to get your hands on 1 AEtherling, if not 2... ...2-4 Mutavault(as many as you can get, but only use 4, if you play 26 lands - no more, no less)... ...Celestial Flare, Syncopate, Dissolve, Render Silent, Azorius Charm, Detention Sphere(not too hard to get).......

Really... ...a 3 color budget deck does not exist... ...if you want me to help you with any deck list, just tell me what type of deck you want to put togeather & I'll make a budget version of it & post it for you....... ;)

Thanks! Your suggestions sure made me think...

I make my control decks a little midrange style, because some of the Rakdos, Jund & Oros & Grixis players have 3-4 Slaughter Games in the sideboards to prey on control decks that have few finishers... ...the 3-4 Mutavault in my control decks are also there because of that(they can't exile lands with Slaughter Games)... ...even 1 Mutavault is enough to end the game when there isn't any blockers, or instant removal for it, but the removal part is why I have to run at least 3 of it.......

I play at lots of stores & that's why I have to make my decks universally competative, tough it's really not easy to do... ...this deck of mine is just an experiment, I haven't yet used it at a tournament... ...what I run is Esper control, Oros(RBW) control, R/G Devotion & Mono-blue Devotion...

Against fast aggro decks, I don't like to use too many counters, only 3-4 mainboard at most...

You are right about the Mountain issue... ...I haven't had problems with it yet, but I really have to change the concept of lands... ...I have to run 9-10 mountains.......

Sure, I get it that it's aggro heavy right now... ...all the places I play at, 40-45% of players play mono-B or U or R & R/G devotion-aggro, sometimes Boros aggro, many play even "Red Deck Wins", aggro orientated izzet(instant/sorcery boost), Selesnya aggro, Dark Selesnya aggro, Esper tempo-aggro...

Most of the time, I play control... ...my favorite is Bant, tough it's not too relavent at the moment... ...my most competative decks right now are my Esper & Oros(R/B/W) control decks.......

Quicken sure is useful at times, but most of the time, it just fills your hand & cost you 1 unnesesarry mana, tough you still get 1 card ahead in your deck, so it's not bad... ...at times, an Instant-speed Verdict changes the game, that's why I used to play Alchemist's Refuge when it was standard... ...but you really don't have other spells worth to be used Quicken on.......

I like your style...

I'd use only 1 Essence Scatter mainboard & 1 of the Render Silent-s there as well(unless you have a 4th Sphinx's Revelation)...

I'd have 1 more Needle in the sideboard, 1 more Negate & no Quicken at all...

Watcha' think about this one?.. : http://www.mtgvault.com/poetmasterx/decks/chain-of-detention/

Well, it's quite good when you have 17+ burn spell in your deck... ...4 Mortars, 3 Magma Jet, 3 Lightning Strike, 3 Warleader's Helix, 2 Skullcrack, 3 Shock & 3 Boros Charm may be... ...3 Commando, 4 Pyromancer, 4 Guttersnipe, 3 Chandra's Phoneix, 2 Stormbreath Dragon...

As for how much Elspeth & Stormbreath cost, it's different for each place... ...I usually trade with Legacy & Modern players, because I have a huge collection of valuable cards, so I don't really have to buy the cards I need, that's why I'm not familiar, tough you can alwayes google it, or so...

If I were you, I'd build this deck & not the midrange version...

Boros midrange?.. ...interesting... ...tough Boros Battleshaper is not a good card, may be that type of deck could still be competative... ...at least I know, I'd never make a deck like that... ...if midrange, than it's 3 colors, but I'll help you with the Boros version anyway.......

Use 2 Anger of the Gods mainboard & 1 more in the sideboard!.. ...use 4 Mizzium Mortars!.. ...3 Lightning Strike... ...3 Warleader's Helix... ...2 Boros Charm... ...3 Chained to the Rocks & a 4th in the sideboard... ...4 Boros Reckoner... ...2 Hundred Handed One... ...1 Heliod, God of the Sun... ...2 Elspeth, Sun's Champion... ...2 Stormbreath Dragon & a 3rd in the sideboard... ...1 Angel of Serenity & a 2nd in the sideboard... ...2 Assemble the Legion... ...1 Spear of Heliod... ...2 Aurelia's Fury... ...1 Chandra, Pyromaster.......

So we than have 1 Anger of the Gods, 1 Chained to the Rocks, 1 Stormbreath Dragon & 1 Angel of Serenity in the sideboards... ...so for the remeaning 11 free spots: 1 Glare of Heresy; 2 Brave the Elements; 1 Chandra, Pyromaster; 2 Burning Earth; 2 Pithing Needle; 3 Skullcrack...

Lands: 4x Temple of Triupth, 4x Sacred Foundry, 3x Mutavault, 2x Boros Guildgate, 6x Mountain, 6x Plains...

Good luck!.. ...if you have any further questions, feel free!..

Never, since I already toke this deck apart :)

Tough it worked out well, but still not really competative... ...I have 6 decks now that I use on standard tournaments... ...Esper control, R/B/W midrange-control, R/G Devotion-ramp, Mono-Black, Red & Blue decks.......

I don't like playing Cleansing with Detention Sphere...

you run too many 3 mana counters, besides, Psychic Strike has no reason to be here... ...I'd rather use Syncopate...

Aishok ain't too good... ...it's process is too slow...

Obzedat will be hard to cast here...

I don't like the Mimic here either...

You should run some Revelations...
